Fair enough! I couldn't get through my last viewing od DAD! SP was on ITV2 the other night and i watched it. Still enjoy a lot of it!
DAD is really a blot on the Bond landscape for me! Simply atrocious!

Having second thoughts about that ranking now. I keep going back and forth on my favorite Pierce films. I'm sure I'll have a new ranking in a week or two...........................that looks the same as all my rankings LOL.

Thanks for sharing! This ranking looks more authoritative and logical than any IMDB / Rotten Tomatoes ranking of the Bond films... this is the aggregation of true connoisseurs' opinions))

    Still, some minor surprises:
    - Thunderball barely cracking the top 10
    - Spectre at a very respectable #14 despite so much mud thrown at it
    - YOLT below Octopussy and LALD? Okay...

Yeah, I'd say YOLT and TMWTGG are the only two not typical so high on such a list around these parts, and every Bond fan has one or two that they hold higher than the consensus. That's part of the fun.

I certainly think it's that bad. At least in the official series.

    2. The Spy Who Loved Me
    1. Casino Royale (2006)

The latter half of this list is always shifting around.

Very nice Top Ten. A couple of conventional favorites not in sight, but nothing I’d say isn’t worthy. Your Top 8 are all in my Top Ten and the other two make my 15.

    Thanks.
You can probably tell from my list that I don't hold Brosnan's and Craig's films in high esteem. With the exception of TND which is 'just ok' I consider all of Brosnan's outings to be garbage and his Bond is the worst by far. As for Craig... his movies are not Bond movies as far as I'm concerned, just pale Jason Bourne imitations. Only Spectre, which you seem to loath, has a semblance of a Bond film (although not a particularly good one).
I can pretty much recite the first eleven Bond movies by heart but I've only seen Brosnan and Craig's outings once in the theater - and that was enough!

Yes. Absolutely the worst. The only Bond film that gives me zero pleasure or joy. There are flawed Bond films, significantly flawed (DAD and MR, to name two), but at least there are moments I love in them, true Bondian moments. At best, the Mr. White scene is kind of interesting, but even that didn't come of anywhere near as intense and thrilling as I would have liked. And I really dislike Craig's take on the role in that one. You'll find several others that have it dead last if you look a bit more. It bores me (I actaually nodded off in my first viewing, then saw it in the theatre six more times trying my best to enjoy it, out of incredulity).

Yeah. I didn't see Spectre until 2017. When I did, my impression was that it was just very bland and generic. As you said, there was nothing really interesting going on. I was also struck with the impression that I couldn't figure out where all of the money had gone. It didn't look nearly as expensive as it was. I have it rated pretty poorly, but I would still rather watch it than Diamonds Are Forever, The World Is Not Enough or A View To A Kill.

i preface my ranking by saying this is not based solely on what i think of the film's overall quality vs the others - it's a little bit of that, but it's mainly just which one i prefer to watch over the others.. because at the end of the day, i love all Bond movies - well.... 99% of them lol.. but even the couple in the bottom tier i can still find something positive about them.... and my list usually tends to fluctuate A LOT lol... but my top 3 and bottom 3 haven't really changed in years..

    1. From Russia With Love
    2. Casino Royale
    3. Goldeneye
    4. Goldfinger
    5. Skyfall
    6. The Living Daylights
    7. The Spy Who Loved Me
    8. Octopussy
    9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    10. Live And Let Die
    11. Tomorrow Never Dies
    12. Licence To Kill
    13. Thunderball
    14. Quantum of Solace
    15. A View To A Kill
    16. Diamonds Are Forever
    17. The World Is Not Enough
    18. Moonraker
    19. For Your Eyes Only
    20. Spectre
    21. Dr No
    22. You Only Live Twice
    23. The Man With The Golden Gun
    24. Die Another Day

According to my calculations, 17/192 (8.85%) MI6 members have Spectre at last. And 27.6% in the bottom 5. To find a similar percentage from the top end you'll have to include top 9 (52/192 = 27%)

    On the other hand, non-mi6/non-bond-forum ranking % respectively are 3.36%, 13.8%, 26.1%.

So I surmise that just over a quarter of people have Spectre in the top 9. Top 9 aside, MI6 members are biased towards the bottom (16-24th), and 'others' rank it in the middle (10-19th)

despite my problems with SP from a story, pacing, and character perspective, i dont think it's an awful movie.. when describing it to friends, i often say it's a very middle of the road Bond movie - there are some things i really like about it, and there are some things i really think are crap.. but overall, i can still sit, watch, and enjoy.. it's just not one i reach for as frequently as some of the others..
