Where are you located? If your LCS is supplied by Diamond Distribution then they should have gotten their copies by now. If you reside somewhere outside the USA then I suspect your copies are on the way... and as for Amazon, I'm sorry but I have no idea what's up there. I believe in supporting my local retailers. I never say never (Sir Sean taught me that!) but I RARELY buy anything via Amazon...
I liked the structure. I liked some of the stories and don't think I actively disliked any. I think I have to read it 1 or 2 more times to really get the overarching plot, because I was sometimes slightly confused on which panel belonged to which level of the plot.
But overall I would say I enjoyed it.
7/10.
Edit: Just had another quick look. What is it with Dynamite Editing not being able to spell French regions? It's Bordeaux not Bourdeaux and Burgundy not Burgandy.
Now, there is a village in France called Bourdeaux, close to the Rhône Valley. But it is not a wine producing village, let alone an appelation for wine, meaning there is no such thing as a "Left bank Bourdeaux".
Strangely enough, Bond uses the word "Burgandy" to describe a color that in my native German is called Bordeaux.
Edit2: Also, there is no such thing as a 5-Star Michelin rating. They go up to 3.
I have Reflections in Death but I haven't made it all the way through yet. Not a huge fan, I'd agree with an above comment that I'm not sure the format works really well for Bond. The more longform stories work better, IMO.
I just don't really understand why the Odd Job connection is there. From what I remember of the longer arc he is introduced in, the connection is that both have a weaponized bowler hat and are Korean?
Given the darker and more mature direction they have taken Leiter in (which I like) I'm not against having another more gregarious spy character in the mix. Although they sometimes sail a little close to making it the John Lee comic with his sidekick James Bond...
Here's the thing. Some publishers were pretty fast to get their output back on track. AWA Studios, a brand new publisher whose output I can recommend very highly by the way, even started during the pandemic. DC, Marvel, Image, IDW, ... all seem to be doing fine right now. It's just that Dynamite is doing so little with its Bond titles. Hence my worries. ;-)
I thought that Dynamite Comics had gotten in trouble for a number of things, hence the non-Bond related comics.
They seemed to be coming to an end of a cycle with Reflections of Death. So they may have slowed down with preperations which was then made worse by Covid.
The Comicsgate thing seems to very clearly have broken up one specific project in the Origins series. If I recall correctly, the incident that blew up was that the creator who was about to be announced for that title, Rahsan Ekedal, very publicly pulled out. So that specific run is not going to happen.
How far other creators now no longer want to work with Dynamite is unclear. Some who had previous runs on the line where very critical publicly (Moustafa, Lorde, Ayala of the top of my head), but I don't think there were any real announcements. But it's probably not easy for Dynamite to find creators at the moment.
Agreed
Written by Bond-newcomer Christos Gage with art by Luca Casalanguida (who drew James Bond: The Body and James Bond: Kill Chain), the story sees "Bond recruited into the terrorist organization by Ernst Stavro Blofeld to end an internal power struggle that could have apocalyptic consequences."
The first issue of 'James Bond: Agent of SPECTRE' will be released in March 2021.
This is incredibly exciting! Glad to see we might be returning to new gritty arc akin to Kill Chain
Okay, so: my apologies, I haven't been keeping up with this forum as much as I might. Life gets in the way, you know how it is...
But: @MaxCasino's comment from a month or so back cries out for a response. Here's mine: Dynamite Comics has been publishing comic books for many, many years now. They've published books featuring characters as diverse as the Lone Ranger, the Green Hornet, Vampirella, and Red Sonja. The non-Bond related comics have been their staples for a long, long time now. Whatever troubles they may or may not be having, 007 comics are a small fraction of their output. Please keep that in mind when forming and stating your opinions.
"Agent of Spectre" sounds like the best concept Dynamite has announced for 007 in quite awhile. I look forward to seeing it... in July or August or sometime in late 2021. (As I've suggested before, keep their track record for timely releases in mind when forming your expectations...)
Here, for instance :) https://archivo007.com/los-comics-de-james-bond/
There was a lot of potential from where things were going after Kill Chain and the Felix Leiter one. I wish the latter was given another volume or two because it was a great spinoff. I lost interest after the Body and only reading a few issues of Oddjob. Origins wasn't bad, but I haven't gone back to finish that either.
Does Bond look a bit... fat? :)
He’s shrunken quite a bit too! Judging by the size of his gun.
I thought it was Russian Superman-style alternative history thing for a second.
