  Under the circumstances, it's definitely a respectable gross. The early predictions didn't leave too much hope for a smooth opening and/or a good performance. Nice to see it holding on!

  Seeing how well NTTD is doing under the circumstances, tt does make one wish we lived in a universe where COVID was the thing delayed 6-to-18-months.

  I had a feeling the film would have legs. I've felt compelled to keep going back and encourage more people to see it. Granted, I know my eight viewings are NOT the norm, but I have to imagine a more than respectable number of viewers have gone in for something like three or four screenings.

  It’s no surprise, it’s been the case for every film. I think the one exception is TENET because Nolan actually prevents his movies from being distributed on home video for like six months after theatrical release.

  I don’t know. Seems a little too soon to me and after all that “only in theaters” narrative to put it on Apple TV so quietly and so randomly feels… like and error.

  Screenrant is no The Hollywood Reporter. Let’s see what happens in the coming 24 hours. As for now, it seems like an error to me… too random… or perhaps that’s what I’m hoping.

  Yeah there's a 5 min preview for free on Amazon tonight (US). They're getting us ready... I would have thought they'd hold off because I don't think Eternals is going to do great and Dune is niche, so I would expect NTTD to have legs into Nov. But assume they know the numbers and can make big dollars getting it streaming where they share less revenue with theaters, etc.
  
  I'll break down to watch at home for $25 or $29 before I can buy it... I saw NTTD 2x in IMAX and 2x in standard... IMAX makes all difference in world. And since I can't see it in IMAX anymore, I'm cool with it seeing it at home asap. The standard screens, one in particular was so dim lit and not as focused in shots, sucks to see it that way after IMAX... theaters are digging their own grave.

  Since it looks like NTTD will be available Tuesday on Apple TV - and on every torrent site worldwide - if it won’t top F9 then we know the reason why.

  I will say that my experience with the AVX screen at Yorkdale for viewing #8 was easily the worst of the lot as far as both sound and picture are concerned. It wasn't so much as to undermine the entire film or anything, but it was a noticeable drop-off.

  To be fair, F9 was also released in this manner. I don’t think this is unprecedented. EON just didn’t go the Nolan hardliner route of cinema only for six months.

  Just watched the Amazon preview. it's surreal yet comforting for this film to already be on my TV (or at least part of it) after the continuous pandemic delays.

  On Amazon (UK), it's currently saying that NTTD is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray on 21st December.
  That's crazy - especially when I think back 20 years ago to watching Disney and Pixar films at the cinema and then having to wait at least 6 months for them to come out on VHS and how long that felt to me! 😄

  yeah Goldeneye took six months to VHS, and a year past that for DVD.
