I didn't realise it was even possible to buy tickets for the real premier (the one that the stars go to). What kind of price are the tickets? Where do you usually get them? (Just from the usual cinema box office?)

You can't buy tickets. You have to be lucky and know someone who knows someone who.....

Ah, as I thought! I suppose there must be some well-connected people here then!

It used to be possible to buy tickets for the Royal Premiers, but at a very high cost. I recall filling out the application forms found in the Odeon Leicester Sq lobby 4 weeks before the event, then having to wait to find out whether I had managed to secure a ticket. Even though you paid you weren't guaranteed a ticket!! I also recall it was roughly £100 and that was in the late 80's. I have no idea what the cost would be today, if indeed it is still possible to get a ticket.

What was the TLD premiere like? Did you see Princess Diana and Prince Charles?

The TLD Premiere was special for me as I had always wanted to attend one since the early Roger Moore years. I recall that they had the Aston Martin with skis and rockets attached sitting outside for people to gawp at. Needless to say I managed to get up close and personal and have a good inspection of the vehicle. They also had a stuntman dressed in a black tuxedo abseil from the top of the marque to the entrance just before Timothy Dalton arrived. This was for the TV cameras and was made to look as if it was Dalton doing the abseiling before he took his cue to be interviewed by Thames TV. The whole event was magical... and I even managed to get a kiss off Fiona Fullerton after the movie!! You see I was young and good looking in those days.

And "yes" I did see Di and Charles.

oh how i wish i could make one of these Bond premiere's! You can bet that they are gonna go to town on this one!

Even though i live in the UK! With work it is highly unlikely i will be able to go? However we do get some film premiere tv shows late in the evening over here. So? I expect the same for Skyfall so i can record and keep them for prosperity!
  • Checking back in. So I guess the premier is the 24th not the 26th. I'm still hoping to fly in, probably arriving the 23rd. Anyone else give going to the premier further thought?

Going to sail over from the Isle of Wight for this (fingers crossed) as it is a while away yet, you never know what is round the corner. But started to think of what to bring to the party.
So far thought of food, drink, waterproof sheet, extra warm clothes in case you get wet. camera, spare pen, empty water bottles, plastic pipeing, elastic and a very small funnel.
The empty water bottles are strapped to the thighs with the elastic and the small funnel and plastic pipeing is for when you need a pee. At least you will not loose your space when you need a toilet break. Lastly scissors so you can cut the billboards off the barriers.
  • I live in London. Sure I'll be popping up to the premiere :)

There will be no chance of getting premiere tickets but I'm hoping to get them for the parallel premiere that takes place in a adjacent cinema sans all the stars. I'm pretty sure its part of London film festival and as I recall tickets for QOS went for about 25 quid.

You still get to wear a tux and walk the red carpet but you are segregated from the stars.

Sorry guys but I'm afraid I can think of nothing less Bondian than camping out like a pikey from 6 in the morning, pissing in a bottle and getting rained on. If I cant get in to this B premiere then I'll probably just swing by at about 6.30 and soak up a bit of atmos. Did this for QOS and saw Daniel and Olga from about 100 yards. Not worth 12 hours of waiting to shorten the yardage for me.
  • I sure don't plan on camping out, LOL! My plan is to meet up with some Bond fans, have some food, hang out around the premier closer to the time when the stars arrive and if I happen to see someone, great. If not, not a big deal. Then seeing the movie on the 26th in London or perhaps Paris. How does one get to go to the parallel premier? Is there a website to buy tickets or is first come, first served? Thanks! :D

Yeah for QOS I'm pretty sure they were available first come first served on the London Film Festival website.

Bascially you got to walk through security along the red carpet and through the middle of the square. Then you got separated and had to cross a special bridge above all the peasants and into the other cinema (think it was the Empire), whilst the real VIPs went into the Odeon.

Joe public in the square didnt know the difference though and were taking pictures of anybody in a tux.

Suggest you keep an eye on here:

The dates would suggest that the SF premiere will be the climax of the festival.

....You are right bondsum, you used to be able to buy tickets!! I bought a ticket for LTK premiere from the princes trust!! About £140 at the time, and I got to sit the row behind Micheal Kamen of all folks! And was only about 25ft from the Royal duo and the Eon lot!! I think I got the seat because it was a spare single and good timing on my part, who knows!! All I can say is walking down the red carpet to the main doors of the Odeon L/square in my tux and people screaming and shouting etc was a bit scary for a shy 18yr old!!!
But a good time was had, meet many people, best of all was Kamen who was a good laugh and totally genuine!!!! Robert brown and Cubby brushed past me, and then from nowhere Timothy Dalton appeared on the stairs and was spotted by all and swamped for autographs etc!!!
While I walked out the main doors totally in love with "Cary Lowell" and off to find my waiting car to drive me home, my Dad in his old vauxhall in other words!!! Oh the simple days of youth!!!!! :-B

Not quite in the same ball park, but when LTK was about I managed to win tickets to the Charity Premiere at the Odeon, Torquay (Devon) through a local paper, and also won tickets from The Today newspaper for the same film (different venue - Drake in Plymouth), they were running a serialisation of LTK and had a competition to enter. I still have the Torquay ticket and booklet from the showing. But to go to a real premiere would be quite an event.

Whether or not you will be able to meet up with folks from this board - the town is full of Bond fans as it is anyway and opposite to what some here say - go and make the queue at Leicester Square. Its a very speecial atmosphere, that you won't find in a theater nearby or anywhere else. You can see the film a hundred times, but this is unique.
I was there startinf at 9 am and wasn't bored. Something to see, someone to chat tgo at all times. They play the clips, they play music - I say - that is pur Bond.

I'm thinking about going to london for the premier this year, for CR and QOS my dad and i attented a regional premier in huntingdon which was a day after the actuall premier and a day before general release. these were organised by Q103 i think and it was a good night, the tickets were £25 each and you got a vodka martini, canope's brought round, you dressed in a tux and the lady's wore evening gowns, they had an aston martin DBS there (it wasn't one used in the films thou, i dont think), they had a casino mocked up, they had a band playing bond themes, they had an auction of bond memrobelia ( with money raised going to charity) and then at 9'o' clock you went and watched the film. i'm thinking about going to london to soak up some atmos and maybe see the stars and then hopefully huntingdon might do the same sort of thing they did for CR and QOS the day after.

@tqb, what's the Broccoli-held event like in Baltimore? I'm relatively close, about two hours from Baltimore.
  • A little over 6 weeks until the premier! Anyone planning on going? I'm stopping by Leicester Square (thanks Germanlady!) on the day of the premier to take in the atmosphere and take pictures. I probably won't hang around too long as I have a very long list of things to see in London. I will work in a meet-up on the 23rd or 24th if anyone is interested. Just PM me. I'm also going to Paris and seeing Skyfall there if anyone is in Paris Oct. 26-28 and wants to join me. :o)

  • I'll be there. I went to the QoS premiere and had a great day. We arrived at 8am and still weren't the first there! It was a cold stand but thankfully, a dry one. The security was tight as Princes William & Harry were attending. There was a security check as they let us into the crowd pens (strangely, no such security at the War Horse prem earlier this year with Will & Kate in attendance). I got Daniel's autograph, along with a few other cast members. He was great with the fans, even though his arm was in a sling at the time. With this premiere being at the Royal Albert Hall, I'm not sure how it will be laid out for the crowd but another very early morning is in the offing.
