There's a lot of fun stuff in DAD. Some really quality ideas too, like Bond getting captured for 14 months, being sort of disavowed and then reinstated by MI6, and having a Moonraker-ish standoff with the bad guy at Blades. While it's easy enough to point out what the movie does wrong, I agree its entertainment value is only increasing with age.

It's something of a guilty pleasure. Terrible film.
Possibly the most disjointed and wacky film I can think of. Little makes sense, and one wonders how they got any of the actors on board this train wreck.
As much as I love David Niven, I feel had he been Bond in DN just five years earlier if the series would've stayed the course.

I was going to start my alphabetically ordered Bondathon this month, but a lot has come up including a move happening next Tuesday, so figured next month would be better to start. DAF is the second-up film after CR. Would make for quite a jarring double feature if I find extra time!

More than ever, I find myself losing interest after Felix’s death. There are still a few nice moments to follow, but they are sporadic and the momentum has died, and I find the tonal shifts unwelcome. Not to mention, of course, that ending will never sit well with me.

I still believe that if this film had been trimmed a good hour, and the filmmakers greatly curtailed Madeleine’s involvement (meaning lose her connection to Safin, lose Matilde), and had Bond won the day with an astounding escape, this could have been a great one. But why frustrate myself…this is what we got.

Second watch, liked it better this time then in the cinema. Great PTS and action overall. Madeleine is also much better used in this one. Still not a fan of the ending.

This should be my perfect bond film yet it usually sits in the lower top 10… Brosnan tries his best but I can’t help but think how much better the film would be Dalton or Craig
