original Danish title: Ronal Barbaren (T. Christoffersen, 2011)
Another great one from Einstein Films, which earlier brought us Terkel in Trouble and Journey to Saturn. All of them brilliantly made and exceedingly funny.
This is pretty simple. Basically Jake Gyllenhaal on the phone with various people, getting caught up in a drama. He gives it his all as usual, and this may sound boring, but it isn t.
It is a re-make of this Danish film, which I haven t had a chance to see yet, unfortunately, so can t say how they compare:

Not very original, but lots of fun.
Disappointing. It has its interesting moments, but this is the weakest Spider-Man movie.
Yes, thought it was awful, with poor direction! It needed someone like Sam Raimi, who I've just noticed is helming the Doctor Strange sequel!
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man characters were horrible people, especially Mary-Jane. Willem Dafoe was the best actor in the movie. Both in 1 and NWH. I also felt that Michael Keaton should have returned as Vulture. More variety in villains.
Bad acting, bad fake looking sets and environment frequently take me out of the movie. The lighting is utterly atrocious, this Marvelesque way of making a movie does not work for this type of film.
The Peter Ustinov adaption is far superior.
Another disappointment. The trailer made this look good, but it s boring and pointless. The performances are good, but the whole thing is clumsily put together.
The 1978 one is my very favourite whodunit, I’m a bit afraid to give this one a go, even more so since I was bitterly disappointed with the Orient Express one they did. I’ll probably give in eventually though.
As a fan of Christie I was compelled to watch it, unfortunately Brannagh's Poirot films lack any suspense or characterisation. Everything feels by the numbers and the ending to Nile was very rushed.
Brannagh is just not Poirot which is also a big hurdle for me to get past, Brannagh's ego creeps in a bit in Nile and well I won't spoil it.
Admittedly I am very familiar with the story and watched different adaptions, that may have worked against me. Perhaps the film may work better for people going in knowing nothing.
I do like The David Suchet and Emily Blunt version, I have that on DVD.
I also finished watching the first season of It Takes a Thief. Now, on to the two others. Can't wait to watch Fred Astaire as Alistair Mundy.

I found this even more unsettling on second watch. Still exciting as I couldn t remember how everything unfolded.
For someone who played games and enjoyed the first film, I enjoyed this one as well. Maybe even more than the first.
del Toro sure likes brown and teal, and the bizarre. This is one of his better films, I liked it a lot. I don t think I have seen the 1947 version, but will sure give that a try as well.
Not sure if I prefer this or the new version. They both look great and have a terrific cast. The 47 version has an infinitely better score, but del Toro s version adds a few intriguing touches and has a superior ending. I guess that one wins.
A change of pace and tone compared to the Mila films, for a relatively short film the pace is a bit slow to start with. I played a few of the early games a long time ago this film is aiming for that. I will likely buy it as I have all the other movies. There are some pretty cool moments.
That is possibly the most positive I have seen anyone talk about it. I haven't seen it yet, i'll get around it it at some point.
I liked it though I am a fan of the genre, even though my memory is vague on the games having knowledge of the games helped a lot, even knowledge of the other series of films helped. Resident Evil films are a guilty pleasure admittedly.

I stumbled on this video nasty on late night TV, very bizzare surreal horror film never heard of it previously. Its notable for starring Maryam D'abo as I have never seen here before.
Not bad, but nothing particularly memorable (it pales in comparison to the first 2 films).

I rather liked this one. My taste in films have changed lately.
As on my first watch, I love the clever and funny bits, but the cringy ones are still annoying. Such as the character of Shorty.
