I love being a James Bond fanatic, I constantly watch the films, I read only Bond related books, I listen to the soundtracks rather than the radio and I try to spend as much of my disposable income on the Bond merchandise, but there is just one small blot on my otherwise perfect existence and that's having to share my world with a partner who dosen't appreciate the necessity of immersing oneself totally in the world of Bond.
Don't get me wrong I love my wife dearly and in every other area she is a lovely and perfectly reasonable woman, but try as I might I can't seem to make her understand that James Bond is far more important than shoes, handbags, soaps, the kids and stuff like that! It's not that I haven't tried to educate her, I've spent many the hour while watching the films with her giving her a running commentary on various facts and trivia and generally just being 'really interesting', but for some reason she refuses to immerse herself in the subject. It's not that she hasn't got a sufficient grasp of the subject, thanks to my efforts she is now very knowledgeable about James Bond, but she seems content just wasting her life on real friends, family and a variety of interests and hobbies that bear no relation to 007.
Has anyone else been unfortunate enough to be struck by this strange bewildering phenomena of living with a partner who dosen't like the world of 007, and if so any suggestions on what I can do? :)

It does sound however that you may have one of the more tolerant ones. I say that because my wife will occassionally watch a Bond film with me, as long as Rog isn't in it. She lets me keep my Bond books in the book case and is faintly amused (and not at all aggresive) about my Bond coasters and Bond tea mug.
She draws the line however when I climb in to bed at night, lean over and suggest some hanky panky in my best Roger Moore accent. I know it puts her off completely, but I can't help myself. I sort of get Roger Moore tourets.
I don't collect as much as you though, so it doesn't impose nearly as much on our lives.
My conclusion? I'm afraid she'll have to go saunders ;-)
Thanks NicNac, I knew I could rely on you for some sound, sensible guidance.:)
And that did the trick. She thoroughly enjoyed the Connery flicks, finding that unlike Brosnan, Connery and even Moore had a lot of charisma. Luckily, Brosnan was canned and Misses Luds was very excited to see CR, participated in a pre-CR Bond marathon and the rest is history!
Her favorite Bond pic is CASINO ROYALE (2006)... Walking out of the theater she actually exclaimed, "Hey! That was really, really good!"
I am a Tomb Raider Lara Croft fan since the game first game out in 1996 on the Sega Saturn, before it was ported to the Sony Playstation and the PC MsDOS.
I have a copy of every game ever made and some of them I even own duplicated copies (i.e. Tomb Raider 1, I have it ithe PC, Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn versions).
I have comics, books, strategy guides on print, strategy guided on VHS, toys, action figures, t-shirts, Lara's Leather Bomber Jacket from Tomb Raider 2 game, Timex Watches, the 2 movie adaptations on VHS and DVD, retail posters for the game, movie posters, movie banners, cardboard standee for the various games and the movies, 2 life size Lara Croft statue - each one 6ft tall and worth $1000s; and even Lara Croft Chocolate Bars in their original wrapping, sealed in bubblewrap and sitting in the refrigerator since 1998.
I didn't meet my wife until 2001 and she didn't move in with me until 2003, two years before we married.
Right from the bat, she wanted me to get rid of all my Tomb Raider stuff: i.e. throw them in the trash!
You Kidding?!?
Some of that stuff is worth some $!!
She thinks it's not healthy for a grown man to play a video game whose main character is an animated woman with big breasts!
Well I fought her and I won and I haven't lost a single item in my collection and she knows better than to touch it or do anything with it - unless she wants a death wish!!
You , my man.....hardcore !
I have been collecting Bond memorabilia in the late 70s. My wife and I started getting serious right as GE came out so she was immersed in my Bondom right from the start. At least she knows it is part of who I am.
She didn't like Bond.
...we broke up :(
;)
I still live with my folks (sad I know) and my mum calls me obsessed. The only bond film she has ever been interested in watching was GE. At least she has good taste :)
1 - TB
2 - GF
3 - GE
4 - FRWL
5 - TLD
She's a bit biased for the first 2 - she has very fond memories of Bondmania surrounding GF and TB.
She has seen every Bond film in theaters on opening day !
You know, you'd think with so many Bond fans being men that I wouldn't have this problem, but I've never dated a guy who was a Bond fan. Most of them were indifferent and would watch them with me, but none were really fans or cared much about it.
That said, my brother introduced me to one of his friends and later told me that I would like him because his favorite Bond is Timothy Dalton, and he lists off his favorite and least favorite Bond films. I went a little girl-psycho-crazy nuts and had us married in my day dream world in the next 5 minutes....Nothing will likely come of it, but you never know....

I hear what you're saying boys, and I feel your pain.
I first met my dear lady 15 years ago, and at that time my Bond collection stood proudly on shelves around the house.
After a few years it was all pushed back into a spare room....
When our first child came along, the room was needed- so Mr Bond was relegated to one display cabinet and the rest packed away.
Following our recent move to a much larger place (with rooms to spare) the unpacking of Bond has met with considerable resistance.....
Cries of 'Oh, I was gonna use that space for (insert pointless girlie object here)' can be heard from the wife....
And while she will go to the cinema to see the latest Bond fick, she will never rewatch one from the past.
Fortunately she does have some hobbies which take her out the house a few night a week, giving me and Mr Bond the personal space we need.
women..... and they don't consult you before they decide what to do with that space, do they?
They just assume it's okay because they are women.
Really essential that is...
She doesn't mind the films although she's not a big fan. She likes Daniel Craig quite a bit even though she doesn't usually go for blonde men!
She came with me to see Spectre and quite liked it...
I think most women don't understand mens nerdy habits whether it's Comic books, football, Star Trek or 007 but mostly tolerate it.
