Batman The Adventures Continue: Season Two. In light of Batgirl being canceled, I know that a lot of people wish that the DCAU staff was involved with the live action DC movies.

For my Halloween reads, I’m thinking about either Dracula or Silence of the Lambs.

    Agent Sonya by Ben Macintyre.

With all these Bond books I've been reading I wanted to read some non-fiction for some context and out of curiosity. And this was not only a fascinating story but superbly told, it was utterly gripping.

LORD VALENTINE S CASTLE (1980) by Robert Silverberg.
A bit different from his earlier work, but still great.

Go for Dracula. SOTL is crime fiction.

So is DRACULA. Sucking the blood out of people is a crime in most countries.

I'd say there's a fair amount of horror in SOTL too, mind.

Happy National Read a Book Day everyone! I finished The James Bond Daily Express Omnibus Volume 4. A lot of underrated stories in there, and I recommend it. Now I’m onto The Silence of the Lambs (1988) by Thomas Harris.

I'm flitting between two at the moment.

My own book and 'The Real Bravo Two Zero'

The latter is the findings of an ex SAS man who travelled to Iraq to uncover the truth about that famous SAS Gulf War mission. It give a very different perspective on events recounted by Andy Ryan.

My girlfriend got tired of hearing about my excitement for Michael Mann's Heat 2 novel and sweetly bought it for me, so I'm eager to get into it ASAP. I also got my Deadwood book via Kickstarter after three long years, going to pair a reading of that with another viewing of the series at some point early next year I think. I'm very excited.

Yes bit it's pretty much completely rationalised. There's no supernatural in SOTL.

Just finished Silence of the Lambs. I couldn’t put this book down, it was amazing all around. This goes more into character detail, as most novels do. Highly recommended for anyone! Next up, I’ll be reading the graphic novel Batman 89.

I thought it was fantastic, and as you say, a bit more detail added into everything. I've tried to read all of Harris' other related novels in that universe, think I had one or two I was missing.

I have the so called Hannibal Lecter trilogy. Is there more?

Hannibal Rising is a prequel to the trilogy. I’ve heard good and bad things about it.

Yes, I think this is the only one I didn't catch then, as I remember reading both Hannibal and Red Dragon too, got Hannibal Rising off eBay for cheap but didn't get around to it. I saw the film around release but recall so little from it.

Good advice. I just finished Batman 89 the continuation graphic novel. It was just ok. It was just Tim Burton’s Batman 3. It wasn’t as good as Superman 78, which had some great twists and turns. I’m looking forward to that sequel. I truly recommend Superman 78.

Thanks. I just have so much to read (and reread) I think I'm seriously lagging. Before the pandemic I used to read 30 books a year of various lengths. I am up to 9 now. Ouch.

I've just finished 'The Real Bravo Two Zero'. If you're old enough, you'll remember the media frenzy concerning the 'Bravo Two Zero' book, which detailed the exploits of an eight-man SAS patrol during the Gulf War. The findings (which were backed up by the then SAS Regimental Sergeant Major) vary wildly from what was written by Andy McNab and state that, in parts, the book was wildly exaggerated. There was no fighting with Iraqi troops and no killing of 250 enemy soldiers. No gunfight at the police checkpoint or (mostly) thereafter. Initially, the patrol was spooked by three locals who fired over the SAS' heads (as was the custom) so they identify themselves. That's when the SAS began shooting back. The RSM states that, during the formal debrief, none of the major incidents detailed in the books was mentioned by the surviving patrol members.

It's a good read for anyone who read 'Bravo Two Zero' or saw the TV film based on it.

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn. Part one of the original Thrawn trilogy. It could have been a good movie in the mid-90s.

I finished Raising an Eyebrow: My Life with Sir Roger Moore by Gareth Owen, earlier this month. A lovely tribute to Roger and a interesting viewpoint on someone’s life to get into the entertainment industry. Today, I finished Star Wars Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn. Why didn’t George Lucas make this into a movie back in the 90s? Just another questionable decision by him. Now reading Tough Sh*t by Kevin Smith. It’s time for something hopefully comedic.

I’ve also started planning my reading books for the next year, until December 2023. I would like to finish Ian Fleming’s Bond books, OHMSS, YOLT and TMWTGG. I hope to finish The Daily Express Comics as I have two more Omnibus Volumes (5 & 6) to read. I would also like to read Colonel Sun and Devil May Care for Bond within the next year, too finish off the one-off Bond authors.

Other books that I would like to read are the Hannibal Lecter books. I finished Silence of the Lambs recently and want to finish the other 3 books. There are also some book series I would like to start. The main 4 are Hercule Poirot, Miss Jane Marple, Jack Ryan and Jack Reacher. In between these books I would like keep up with Sherlock Holmes, Batman, Superman, Star Wars, Harley Quinn and any type of history (particularly in entertainment) books. Forgive my rant, I just want to plan ahead. Fun fact about me: I don’t read books in the same series back to back. It can save me from bias overexposure.
