Quite an exciting back and forth it ended up being between QOS and SF. I suspected QOS was going to win, though, so I’m a little surprised, as it seemed to get more praise while SF got more complaints on our site.

Yea the back and forth between QOS and SF was exciting… if you told me those two would be competing against each other 5-10 years ago I wouldn’t believe it (granted we are a small sample)

I think we had the same situation with Moore’s elimination game where Octopussy and LALD both were down to nothing but kept getting rescued from elimination.

Damn, QoS would've taken over SF if I had voted this morning like I usually do.

SF deserves to be more on the level of CR, IMO. Just like the magnificent NTTD, by the way. I know it's a minority opinion, but still. Let's see how long this lasts.

    Sunday

    Casino Royale - 32 (-2)
    Skyfall - 5 (+1)

    ELIMINATED:

    3. Quantum of Solace
    4. No Time To Die
    5. Spectre

It does not. Not even close. Skyfall is a really good film, but it lacks that great bondian feeling that CR oozes of. And don't get me started on NTTD.... the worst cinema experience of my life...

But let's get down to the important stuff:

    Sunday
    Casino Royale - 33 (+1)
    Skyfall - 3 (-2)

    ELIMINATED:

    3. Quantum of Solace
    4. No Time To Die
    5. Spectre

I don't know where we're supposed to post suggestions, but I've been loving the Fleming Novel stuff, and we've recently done the novels, short stories, and Bond girls. Would love to do a Fleming Bond Novel Villain Elimination Game if others are interested!

You can post suggestions here: https://www.mi6community.com/discussion/8997/so-you-want-to-start-a-new-elimination-game/p86

Not a frequently used thread, most people start an elimination game if they feel like it. I think your idea is excellent!

    Final score!

    1. Casino Royale
    2. Skyfall
    3. Quantum of Solace
    4. No Time To Die
    5. Spectre

This seems to align with the general fan consensus as of late. For me there’s two battles here (QOS vs. SF, and SP vs. NTTD). Personally I would flip both compared to the game outcome, but they are VERY close.

It’s just nice that QOS gets more love among the hardcore fans than general public. If left up to casual viewers, the consensus seems to be:

    1. CR
    2. SF
    3. NTTD
    4. SP
    5. QOS

Not sure if CR or SF is the more popular film overall, but got to give the king the edge. QOS is the only Craig film my sister and her husband didn’t like. Something about it doesn’t resonate with the non-hardcore.

I do think that QOS is the worst of the five (which is not saying it is all bad, there are definitely some redeeming qualities about it, though certainly not the editing). And SP, while disappointing in several ways (like the plot) is probably still slightly ahead for me. And yes, I see the other three about on the same level of excellence, though not for the same reasons. I found seeing both SF and NTTD at the cinema for the first time a much more exhilarating experience than I remember about CR (not to mention QOS and SP, which I found a bit disappointing). But I love all three, among my top five Bond films ever.

So the ranking you quote, @FoxRox, applies to me although I do not consider myself a "casual viewer" after being somewhat of a Bond fan for over fifty years (maybe not "hardcore", though...I can live for months without watching one of the movies). Except that I'd put the first three as tied at No. 1, and the rest as No. 4 and 5.

Without a doubt the best Craig Bond film and a very worthy winner! :-bd

In fairness to CR I can understand that it's an easier film to watch than SF most of the time. SF is a tad slower and has less set pieces that drive the story. So I can understand why maybe casual viewers or even fans might prefer CR.

If I'm honest though, while CR is undeniably one of the better films of the series for me, its flaws tend to become more obvious on repeat viewings. I was talking in another thread about some of the strange dialogue that takes me out of the film, for instance. By comparison I find SF gets better the more I rewatch it (even if it has its flaws too).

Perhaps SF is just a Bond film I have fonder memories of though, or perhaps it's purely my preference. Regardless, I'm not quite sure why it has such a mixed reception on these forums sometimes...
