  • I love the Avtak one.

Cr--Cornell is an awesome singer. Maybe the best pipes in the History of Hard Rock. Better Than Plant. Better than Daltrey(though Love Reign O'er Me is fantastic). Better than Steve Perry of Journey. He is the shiznit, ,and I hope you guys knew of him before That movie.

Without doubt Casino Royale - it is just so brilliant, doesn't have the cliched naked girls (nothing against that, but it is nice to have a change - I recon the girls will be back for Skyfall) and just fits in so well with the casino theme - another great casino themed one is LTK. And sorry fassbonder have to disagree AVTAK is probably the worst ever (well = worst with QoS) I find it embarrassing and amateurish - don't think anyone did their best work on that film.
  • it's cool ,Lancaster.

it's all just opinion. Avtak is the 1st one I really watched way back then.

Ah, yes, first Bonds do have a special place I have to admit. And as you say it is just an opinion. T'would be a boring world if we all agreed on the same thing. Hoping the Skyfall titles will be up to scratch.

    My favorites so far:
    The Spy who Loved Me
    Diamonds Are Forever
    The Living Daylights
  • The CR titles are cool but suffer from lack of naked girls.

I'd love to say one of Daltons, but it has to be GE.
  • I have to go with Casino Royale on this. If for no better reason than the fact that even though it lacked girls entirely, it still felt more Bond-like than anything I'd seen in a while. It was creative, sleek, simply perfect. And it used Craig very well.
  • My favorite is definitely DAD. I despise the song and have no use for the film, but I think Daniel Kleinman did a brilliant job in including the fire and ice elements and showing the torture. It’s the only Bond film in which the OTS actually furthers the story.

Honorable mentions for TB, TSWLM, GE, and CR.

I never understood the love for Casino Royale titles, great theme from Cornell for sure, but a bit of a dull and uninteresting sequence with silhouettes and playing cards and bullet trails in dour colors across the screen. Never was a fan of Binder, and one or two of his work are genuinely awful, but a handful of his title sequences are quite well done. Kleinman also takes praise for his fine work on Goldeneye, DAD and TWINE. I can't remember who did QOS, but it was rather a muddled nauseating mess, a bit like the film itself, but not the worst we ever saw. I hope Skyfall is a definite improvement on what came before

CR's opening titles somewhat further the story, as well, though very slightly. We see Bond's 007 status activated, so I suppose that's something.

That's a good point, Creasy. I hadn't thought of that. So I suppose we can say that TWO Bond film OTS's advance the story...and both come from Kleinman.

If anything, DAD's opening titles definitely move the story along, but man, was that CGI bad.

  • Hi guys! First post!

My fav opening which pops into my head is the opening to Quantum of Solace game on Xbox. Great song also! Check it out on the link if you haven't seen before!

Welcome to the community "DamoConnolly". Not played on aconsole for ages but certainly a nice sequence. The music had a Goldeneye feel to it in places i thought!

Welcome, @DamoConnolly! That video brings back memories, QoS on the Xbox 360 was one of my most enjoyable experiences in terms of multiplayer gameplay. I had so much fun with that, including the single player storyline, which I gave a few playthroughs.
  • Thanks guys! Defo has a Goldeneye feel to it. Just got back into playing multiplayer on Bloodstone great to see it still active.

Sorry for going off topic. Big fan of CR opening and LTK as was first Bond I got to see on the big screen so has always been a fav !

I love everything about that movie.

Don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but the original opening sequence, Dr. No captivated me from the very first instant and cemented my becoming hooked on the Bond movies. The simplicity of being exposed to the gun barrel sequence for the first time and then the seamless transition to the flashing shapes and colors, all with that original Bond theme. Always found the titles to From Russia With Love and Goldfinger a little disappointing after that.

But I think my favorite would have to be Daniel Kleinman's opening for Casino Royale: another seamless transition from a gun barrel sequence in a completely rebooted form, the casino imagery and actors incorporated into the sequence, and unique, fun imagery without falling back on the same old naked-women-doing-gymnastics-on-guns that nobody can do better than Maurice Binder did. That, paired with the black-and-white sequence, made my favorite stretch of the film.

As for QoS, the title sequence made much more of an impression on the big screen (unlike the rest of the movie, which I actually find more enjoyable watching on DVD than I did in the movie theater). I felt like I was flying along with the motion of the camera, over the desert and into space. Also, I think Another Way to Die is the most underrated Bond theme of all-time.
  • I would say Goldeneye would be my favourite! Daniel Craig would have been good in Goldeneye. Pierce Brosnan made that movie and James Bond though! cant wait for SKYFALL!!

I would never have wanted Craig in Goldeneye, Brosnan made his debut, and did an adequate job, I wouldn't replace him with anyone

I can't even remember what I originally chose at this late hour (and some intoxicating beverages), I did like Tomorrow Never Dies though, Daniel Klienman, did a fine job and superb Sheryl Crow music, it was a winner. Shame about the actual film though :-<

I reckon GE is probably my favourite. The title sequences for the Brosnan films are the few things I like about this era.

OHMSS and Dr No are up there too.

Well, it seems CR is kicking butt- and rightfully so. Just recently, I found an article on Daniel Kleinman, who made the titles for GE-CR. It's an older article going back to 2006, but it's worth a look as he explains how he went about designing the titles for CR.

For me Binder is the king, and the top three are his:
    1. OHMSS
    2. Dr. No
    3. Thunderball

In the league of the non-Binder:
    1. Casino Royale
    2. Goldeneye
    3. The World Is Not Enough (not because of the song, but because of the oil looking style)

Casino Royale. It was refreshing to hear a male singer after a run of (very good) female artists. The song was matched the visuals very well.

The opening was one of the few features of that film that stayed true to the Bond formula. Hopefully there are more gadgets and the 007 theme song in Skyfall.

Infact, I think I'll probably have to re-watch all the title sequences to give an accurate opinion. I based my opinion solely on the visuals too, not taking the song into account.

    RIP Tony Scott
  • I had never seen the Quantum of Solace video game OTS. That was very well done, and very cool!

Oh, and THAT’S what happened during the car chase at the opening of QoS? I finally got to see it without the world’s worst editing getting in the way = )
  • Tomorrow Never Dies. I love Daniel Kleinman's overuse of electronic images and just bombarding the screen with a malestrom of visual information, yet still keeping the tried and tested formular of the dancing Bond girls. Another excellent one was the Die Another Day opening titles. Was a nice clever invention to incorperate Bond's torture by the Korean's into the usual visuals.
