Is he doing that pointing finger thing? As if to say "my friend is higher value than me."

As time goes by more and more possibilities develop for actors in the Bond role.

Well @ArapahoeBondFan of course that's the Japanese musical "Casino Royale".

    With an all-female cast.

Oh is that the one that's supposed to take place in 1968? I didn't realize it was all female. Interesting twist.

Not a theatre or musical fan, and I don’t think it’s even made for Bond/Fleming aficionados! It seems more in the vein of, say, an ‘out there’ Shakespeare adaptation, or perhaps a modernised reworking of an old Greek myth or whatever you get in theatre.

But yeah, probably not my thing. Cool bit of Bond spin off history I guess though.

Bond has a ton of flair and is perfect for theater. Glad the Japanese see it.

Well, that was weirdly interesting. The musical cue at 2:30 sounds familar, the dance acts use the sound of US crime shows of the early 80ies, like Vegas and Magnum P.I.

    Anyway, this is off topic.

I think one of the actors that could easily nail the Bond character is Matt Smith. There's a bar/night club scene in Morbius, where he really plays it cool. He doesn't look entirely conventional for Bond, but my! Smith's a terrific actor.

I've always thought Smith would be better suited to a television adaptation of the books as opposed to playing the role of Bond in the films. They are very different beasts and, as I said, I think Smith would kill playing the former.

I think it's a bit of a shame Smith isn't a bigger star in movies. He's good enough and very charismatic.

Not that I'm pushing for it. It's likely not going to happen. But an actor like him wouldn't make EON nervous about losing Craig. Smith's so comfortable in his skin.

It comes as no surprise but I do just think Callum Turner is pretty perfect. I think he'd be a good balance of what is classically thought of as Bond, especially in his looks, but is a younger more modern actor who I think would be able to capture some of those more "Craig-like" elements which re-contextualised and modernised the franchise pretty successfully. Sometimes I feel like keeping my mouth shut will give more of a chance, but it's hard not to while we're waiting...

Don't do that mate, hearing people's different takes and opinions is what makes this place so great. We've all got our favourites.

I like Turner, he definitely should get a test. I've seen him in Masters of the Air and I thought he was great in that, even if at times it felt like an Austin Butler vehicle.

I wonder if dating Dua Lipa will hurt his chances though? Similar to Hiddleston with Taylor Swift, if you believe reports.

Yes. Callum is another one to look out for. I think he would play a debonair and posh Bond well. A sort of very English James Bond.

I don't think so. The Tom/Taylor thing is not really something that can properly applied because Craig was still in the role at the time. It'd be different if EON were looking and we knew for sure that Hiddleston's consideration was hurt by such a relationship, but given we don't, I think it's fine and if EON want him, they'll want him.

That reminds me actually, @Pierce2Daniel sent me this picture of him with Barbara (and others) from
the "Masters of the Air" Special Screening and Reception a while ago. I'm not saying it means anything but still interesting to know that their paths have crossed and he's at least in her radar.

At one point, Hiddleston seemed to be pretty much one step from publicly asking to be considered without actually asking to be considered. Schoolboy error, dude. I know he tried to backtrack when he (or his agent) realised his gaff, but it was too late by then - damage done. Can't see Callum Turner making that mistake. If he's even interested, obvs.

Anyone remember this little quote which (supposedly) came from BB about Hiddleston? Think it was just before Craig's return was announced - https://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/tom-hiddleston-too-smug-and-not-tough-enough-to-play-james-bond-a3507236.html

No idea if it was genuinely something she said, but it started making the rounds through the tabloids. Obviously he was never considered one way or the other so it's potentially untrue or very much a second hand account of something. Quite amusing though.

Matthew Lewis from the Harry Potter films. I think Lewis also looks like Fleming, and he's got the type of James Bond look one could imagine when reading the novels. Plus, Lewis isn't that popular yet and he's 35.

'Too smug and not tough enough?' :D Thing is, even if it's not a real quotation, you immediately know what they're getting at, right? Good one.

You picture an appearance rather like that of Matthew Lewis when reading Bond novels ? As for "looks like Fleming", whether you mean it literally or meant to write something like "looks like that which Fleming described in writing", I'm trying, but not seeing the same. Of course, everyone is different, and yet, I, for one, am quite surprised that anyone would find the appearance of Mr. Lewis to be that which one could imagine for Bond from any of the novels, by any of the authors. In all seriousness, sometimes I wonder whether agents or others rooting for a particular actor write entries on this webpage.

I think you're reading far too much into it, though. There's a certain vulnerability that comes with Bond when reading the books. That's what I meant by imagining Lewis.
