Yep, indicator lights are there for a reason.
It's the fact that you're driving along and then they suddenly stop in front of you and then you have to usually reverse a bit to let them back into the space. It happened to me again recently and I thought I must record it down on this thread as it's a real bugbear of mine!
Oh don't worry, I know the feeling. Same goes for when you're waiting for a roundabout because you see a car coming and it turns, without indicating, into your street. You've been waiting for somebody's ignorance. I hate it.
Roundabouts are a serious problem here (Vancouver, Canada); I think it's because there aren't many of them, but people entirely don't know the rules of them and it's extremely annoying.
There have been relatively numerous roundabouts for ages here - at least I remember a number of them even from my early childhood. But it seems they've become more popular recently. Within a ten-kilometer radius from my home, at least seven or eight were built within the last ten or twelve years, and this is the countryside. So you'd think people would know how to handle them. But as @CommanderRoss says correctly for his country, they don't.
Well, doing anything complicated at all involving banks is much easier in person, so I’d rather have my own nearby in case problems of that nature arise. Also, the bank I switched to is far smoother and has perks my old local one did not at all. They gave me a credit card with a max of 300 bucks at my last place, and that was after a 100 dollar upgrade, whereas they started me on 1200 at my new one AND give me cash back options for usage while I got no cash back at all at my other one. In general, too, it’s just not very conducive to have your bank be exclusively out of state. I hardly ever use checks anymore, but you never know when you might have to.
I try to put my hazards on when doing this manoeuvre :D
At least you've gotten your brain in gear. Sadly, most drivers give little to no warning when they do this, not even a signal in most cases. It does irritate me. I was never much good at parallel parking and I don't think I've ever done it since I passed my test nearly 20 years ago!
Crikey! I myself live in a road where parallel parking is a constant! So i do get a lot of practice...
Yes, necessity is the mother of invention. I'm ashamed to say I've never used it since I passed my test. I put it under "fancy driving manoeuvres" even though it's not really. I just know I'd probably make a hash of it and have to give up half way through!
Yes, I've seen those in other people's cars and they're a great job. Unfortunately my car doesn't have that feature so I have to do it the old fashioned way! :)
A lot of these parking gadget's take all the skill out of it. But i must say my last two cars have had a rear sensor which is a godsend getting into a tight space! (Sounds like a Rog quip! :)) )
Au contraire. I scratched our for-us-brand-new (3 y/o) car thanks to the sensors telling me I still had space, where I actually didn't. If I'd listened to my brain instead of the peeping noises, I wouldn't have kept going. I'm still bloody annoyed about it.
Ouch! I must admit that constant beeping as you're parking can get quite tedious..
That being said, I understand that new cars in the EU, starting in 2025, will have to have all kinds of sensors that will beep all the time, including traffic sign recognition that will cause a beep if you go even one kilometer per hour beyond the speed limit. Also, while these things can be turned off for your trip, they cannot be turned off permanently. So to avoid annoyment, you have to go through the turning-off procedure every time you start your car.
