Just noticed for the first time in TSWLM, in his final confrontation with Bond, Stromberg enjoys a bottle of Tabasco sauce with his dinner. How is he going to get his favourite condiment after he destroys civilisation..?

That wasn't from the HP sauce conversation on Bluesky was it?

The theory is that Stromberg was stockpiling crates of Tabasco to not only flavour his lobster but to also fuel his submersibles. It makes everything better.

Maybe Nick Nack has a supply as his late boss had a taste for it with oysters.

TND and Titanic opened the same weekend and both movies end with the stars floating away on a peice of wreckage.

Stromberg comes up in the replies. I only mention it as it's the second time in as many days I'd seen Stromberg's tabasco mentioned! :D

Tabasco has been known to go well with an excellent pate, refreshing cucumber sanger, Preveza prawns, succulent sheep's eye, and of course, omelette. It makes everything better.

    Good catch!

I was reminded of the Largo being a dark version of Bond. The person mentioned that they are both late for their respective meetings. Never thought of that before.
  • During the car chase sequence in Hamburg (TND) Bond's BMW 750 rear window gets blown out by Stamper's associates, moments later it's back intact, then missing once more when a missile is fired at Bond's vehicle which goes cleanly through to blow up one of the goons own moments after.

In Goldfinger, Oddjob drives to the junkyard to crush the vehicle, which is a neat trick as the front end appears to have no engine.
  • I watched the climax in DAD and one of the major complaints is obviously why does Graves have a suit that would electrocute the wearer.

As I remember, I'm pretty sure the gloves electrocute whatever they touch. If Graves is touching the plane, then the current would rush through the fuselage where it create a circuit with his feet, electrocuting him. It seems ridiculous still, but that's probably the logic the writers were going for.

Did anyone notice how Electra is portrayed as a sort of savour figure to the villagers, and at the end she says "for the glory of my people!" Do you think that was an attempt to make her a more complicated character than just pure evil? Like she as some altruistic intentions, or perhaps its to reassure any audience members who have started to suspect her too soon? I don't know, but it definitely feels intentional that it was an aspect of her they were keen to play up.

The latter i should think. Same as when she panics when she gets buried in the snow with Bond, to display her apparent vulnerability.

Yeah, the only difference is you could say she exaggerates acting scared to manipulate bond, but when she says that glory of my people line it comes across as sincere, like that was supposed to be apart of her character and not some mask she's wearing, not to mention by that point the game is already up.

I think TWINE tries to have its cake and eat it at the same time. I always believed that Elektra was having a genuine panic attack but I suppose if she did so well in evading her kidnapping scenario there might not be that much PTSD to deal with.

With regards to the pipeline, I think the answer is neither. I believe Elektra's mother was Azerbaijani, and her listening to the pastor, along with the "my family's legacy" was meant to show the stronger connection Elektra had with her mother, which served as foreshadowing.

I think a love for her mother's people and the feeling her father was a theft to the fortune might have also played a part

In DAF when Bond is infiltrating Blofeld's lab, he pretends to stick a card into the reader as he waits for the other guy to go in.

Yes I love that. Klaus Hergersheimer has already entered his card and Bond comes up after and makes it look like he swiped his. Then he talks to Klaus for so long the doors almost close on both of them. Classic stuff.

Seems to me as if this thread doesn't alert you to new postings. It's just suddenly at the top of the list. We've had this before elsewhere.

My brain probably noticed it but for some reason it never clicked with me that M has a golden telescope in his office from GF through TLD, with the exception of TMWTGG and OP. I wouldn't mind it making a comeback in future films.

For a while I've been trying to figure out who the framed chap is in the red uniform on M's desk or behind on the mantle. Any ideas?
