Only if it is especially unmemorable. ;)
But, No Time To Die IS memorable. It's the only film to date where
It's also the one that some members railed against without having seen it. ;-) That's something I'll remember.
If so he could be a 20-year 007.
Not sure about the logic of that. He’s officially left the role. There is no Bond. Longer gap aside it’s a similar limbo to the eight months in 1972 after Connery left the role. Or the year after Moore left before Dalton was announced. Even Brosnan left in ‘04 and there was no Bond before late ‘05. The only Bond whose tenure you can argue was still going during a gap was Dalton, and that’s because he hadn’t officially retired. Even then I’d go from their last film as the end of their tenure even in hindsight.
I would say we have no James Bond right now, and haven't since 2021. Which presents a problem — who is protecting us from Spectre?
Does finally mean you had always been hoping for that?
Will the Craig era pick up twenty-five later with Bond's daughter becoming an MI6 agent?
No. It means that for 24 films Bond had typically been depicted as a loner and NTTD was really the first film to change that dynamic, however shortlived. It was actually fresh and interesting to watch unfold on screen, and that plot point wasn’t something I hadn’t really expected EON to explore.
You and I both know that’s a pretty ludicrous idea now.

I know you are joking but rest assured that won't happen.
;))
Quite so ! In fact, ALL the James Bonds died in CR 67 !
I love all the (unintentional, I think) parallels between NTTD and CR '67. It's odd.
Trouble is lots of us were saying this about 2024. Ofcourse it seems logical as it is that things will begin to ramp up, but what if we're in summer 2025 and still nothing?
Well, I'd say what I hope and what I expect are very different! I could be comically wrong here, but I don't think we'll get an awful lot of Bond 26 information stuff throughout a good portion of 2025. Not to say we'll get nothing nor that it won't be important if we do get something official, but if that's the case I'm expecting to wait later into the year. I'd be very surprised if they got as far as casting for Bond or anything quite like that, but perhaps an indication of a release date/official pre-production by the end of the year is in the cards (maybe). Still very much early days stuff but more an indication things are moving. If that's the timeline I'd expect a late 2027 release.
I think if anything there'll be more to come out about Project: 007 which I can imagine being released in late 2026 or perhaps a bit later. Either way I expect it to come out before the film.
Apart from that I dunno, maybe there'll be another round of ATJ rumours in 2025?
Again, frame this if it's stupidly wrong in hindsight!
I don't want rumors, I want news.
There's some between OHMSS and NTTD, too, except switch who lives and who does not ie, Bond or his lovey-dovey. These are more explicit, with music, even, from OHMSS.
Somehow, we don't get Bond jumping - in full racing suit - into a Formula racing car in NTTD, nor M's wig blowing off, but both DO have Bond's blonde daughter.
A moment of respect here for Joanna Pettet - regardless of which production group, she is one of the most wonderful Bond heroines ever ! Would love to see her appear in an EON film
So...there...did I wander over enough of the map ?
Not sure what the next one will be.
Oh yes, it's around this time of year we get the traditional 'ATJ has been signed as Bond, shot the gunbarrel, will be announced in March' rumour, isn't it. It comes earlier every year!
Well, if they ever do 007 in New York, they might as well set it in Times Square around the New Year's Eve ball drop. Like the opening of SP but with more tourists. ;)

Leiter: "The bomb is at the reptile house. Repeat, the bomb is at the reptile house."
Bond: "But there is no reptile house."
And off to the races.
ETA: news, of a sort.

Still, it's an update of sorts, so I take it. :)
You do realize that if they start this tomorrow (and they aren’t), it won’t hit cinemas for another four’ish years, right?
Bond will be released before this.
