For those in the New York City area, the Film Forum is marking Marlon Brando’s centennial year with a two-week retrospective.

Of course, any discussion of ON THE WATERFRONT ….

Interestingly, John Garfield – another “method actor” did something just like this six-years earlier in the classic (and very influential) film noir FORCE OF EVIL (1948). The biggest difference is that actress Beatrice Pearson is a lot better looking than Rod Steiger!

Caught Ronin at Metrograph yesterday. Lovely experience in 35mm!

How is the Metrograph @LucknFate ? How large are the screening rooms, concession prices, etc..

I've never been there, but they are showing IKIRU (1952) next week and I'm thinking of going.

I love it, one big screening room, which is worth admission (17 for non members I think) and you get to pick seats, there's a nice balcony option. The other smaller theater room is the other option, you'll know if your movie is showing there when you choose seats before checkout. I would say that is hit or miss, if you really want to watch something in a room with people, it's tight but not horrible. There's also a restaurant upstairs (does not serve in the theater). I haven't eaten there in years. Enjoy if you go @Dwayne Concessions are glass bottle drinks, "fresh" popcorn already bagged on a shelf. Not so fresh, but tasty usually. I don't for concessions there so I'm not sure of pricing. My friend got popcorn but not sure how much. Probably too much.

Seems to me Jenna Ortega is stuck in fantasy and horror movies. Here's the latest one :

    Thanks @LucknFate.

Lots of great films screening in NYC over the next few weeks so I'll have to prioritize.

Metrograph; IKIRU, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST
Museum of the Moving Image: ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE
Alamo Drafthouse: GODZILLA vs. MEAGLON :D
Film Forum: An "AI" series of films including ALIEN, 2OO1, etc....

I expect Dutch Filmworks going to release this movie, but it turn out there choose falls on Splendid films a Benelux/German company.
