'Tis the season to be feasting: what to eat during Christmastime

Well, this is like my other Yuletide threads, except about good. What do you eat, what do you suggest eating round Christmas?

    Okay, I'm going to start with a tradition from my childhood.

    Our Christmas night supper, which we have after midnight on the 25, consists of turkey, stuffing, meat pies (small pork pies about the size of a mince pie), mashed potatoes, green olives, cranberry sauce and applesauce, both sauces homemade. Not a single veg in sight. The sauces and olives go with the turkey. The pies are generally drowned in ketchup.

    It's lovely that you keep that tradition alive. Nostalgia goes well with food :)

    As for our tradition, usually my father cooks a randomly inspired menu on the 24th, and my father-in-law prepares a stuffed turkey for the 25th.

    Sometimes I take care of the so-called 'primo piatto', which is either a pasta or risotto.

    I'm also planning to go for a pandoro at some stage during the Christmas season, but not sure if I'll manage.

    Thanks. That's the tradition at my parents' place anyway. When we celebrate in Québec, that's what we have. It's a mix of the menu they had growing up in their respective families.

    In England, my wife being vegetarian, we have a vegetarian version of the English Christmas roast.

    Otherwise, at least once during the holidays we have a wine and cheese.
