There is also another good cut scene, after Bond first meets Sanchez, he reunites with Pam at the bar, and they have a nice well written banter, it's just before they meet Q!
Anyone'd think it's the main villain of the film.
People keep saying she isn't a good actress, but I find her highly convincing as a golddigger who tries to stay away from where she came from. Go and have a look in all the places rich people party, you'll find plenty of girls acting exactly this way. I find her very convincing in the role. I have more trouble with Carey beeing a former army pilot and now CIA operative. She's often more childish than professional, and not very convincing. Lupe may not be your regular 'girl who wants love', but that doesn't make Talisa portray her in a wrong way.
Probably my least favourite Bond score, but you're right, love Kamen's gunbarrel music!
Good point. But i didn't mind one bit! Incidentally the elevator they're in was used again in Spectre i believe...
It's not so much that it's 'just a water fountain.' It's the wrong tone for what we've just witnessed. The film should have ended on a sombre note instead of the ghastly 'happy' ending with Leiter on the phone (Apparently quite chipper even though his new wife was murdered a couple of days ago..!)
I don't think ending on a sombre note would have been a wise decision, mate! As I said Leiter should have just been heard on the phone, rather than seen, but I don't think it's as catastrophic as made out by some. And I like to think that wonderful moment with Dalton, just after he kills Sanchez, where he sits down and you can see in his face, the relief, revulsion of what happened, there was no need to hammer it further!
Yeah, but i think the makers should have followed the serious tone they'd set up through to the end. It's all a bit too neat and tidy for me! :D
My main gripe is the timeline. The time between catching Sanches, the wedding, his escape, taking Della, it all goes way too quickly, and that wasn't necessary. The story would be more believable if they had showed there had been some time inbetween. Bond doesn't need to leave the day after the wedding, he could've easily stayed a couple more days, and the impact would probably be even bigger.
Same goes for the ending. If it'd been a week or two between Della's death and Bond enlightening Sanchez, the talk between Felix and Bond would've bene a bit more natural. Feix is way too 'alive' in that scene considering his wounds. I think CR handled this a lot better.
but isn't that what you'd expect from a golddigger? Lines to manipulate without the emotions that should be there if they were truly meant?
Great aerial shot of Bond carrying Tracy out of the sea. The sun hits the water to the left of the screen and the reflection looks all sparkly.
Bond carries her shoes into the title sequence. If this was Brozza Bond he'd for sure have a sniff.
Surreal atmosphere during the beach fight. Objects on the sand placed strategically for best framing and love that shot of the DBS in the foreground with Cougar at the far back and centred. All Bond films would make excellent video games, but right now I'm imagining this beach scene in third-person, roaming around the boats and netting at dawn, anchors everywhere. Dawn and dusk is never long enough, IMO.
Bond's hotel room key hangs from a unique metal ball-shaped fob. The same type - or perhaps the exact key fob prop even - returns in LALD, used as a sliding lever knob on Kananga's cavern lair control panels, with all the switches and light indicators. This paneling appears in several Tom Baker Doctor Who episodes, where it can be seen more clearly.
'Casino' lighting on the swimming pool is a nice transition overlay I'd like to see more of. Playing cards look very similar to the ones in TB or GE. Love these designs that omit the value in the corners. Recently picked up the playing cards seen later, at Piz Gloria.
"Well, Tracy, next time play it safe and stand on five."
"People who want to stay alive play it safe."
Always expect Tracy to make it rhyme and say, "People who want to stay alive stand on five."
And then, Bond could say, "Please stay alive. At least 'til five."
Bond to Tracy: "Get dressed." He should've followed that up by handing her back her beach shoes.
At the hotel reception, Draco's man pulls a gun from behind a newspaper. The paper appears to be a customized version of a real newspaper, with all the same articles and photos present, just positioned differently on the pages.
Irvin Allen's Che-Che sounds like Oddjob here in the car. What he lacks in dialogue he makes up for with that awesome flamethrower backpack.
Laz's accent slips. "Mystery tour, ay?" The majestic mystery tour. Down Under, ay?
Interesting sounds as Bond punches on with Draco's men just outside his office. Echoey effects that remind of Bond being back in those seawater pipes in DN.
Draco holds a similar cigarette holder to Kerim Bey. I wonder if they smoke the same brand. Bond's reaction is funny as Draco ignores his question of why he's telling him Tracy's life story.
Olympe, then Olympic henchmen uniforms. Chess game here, then in the Alpine room.
I read somewhere that Draco's wife in the framed photo is actually Diana Rigg's mother, Beryl Helliwell.
"What she needs is a man to dominate her!" We could all use a little dominating from time to time. To keep us in line.
"To make love to her enough to make her love him." If only it was that simple.
If I've taken anything away from this film, it's that turning down Diana Rigg and a million pounds in gold is Stupido!
Some of Draco's men recently defected to Blofeld. Any details of who they were?
Moneypenny looks her most attractive in this film. Bond must agree, finally asking her out for cocktails at his place.
"What did you expect? A knighthood?" I remember some fans expected Bond to be knighted at the end of NTTD, because of those photos of the Queen's guards walking by when Madeleine crosses the street.
Not a fan of how some of the dialogue tries to convince us this is the same Bond. The line about Manuel keeping the hotel to it's usual standards and this line here from MP: "Same old James!"
I have the West Indies wall map seen in Moneypenny's office. Same size, I believe. This one is also seen in Bond's flat in LALD. Anyone know what the other map is in her office? The one with a single country or island at centre? Do you recognize the shape of that coastline?
"There may be a connection between that man Blofeld and the lawyer with offices in Bern, Switzerland. Named Gumbold."
"Gumboot?"
"No, Gumbold."
"Gumball?"
"Stupido!"
Do Bond and Tracy walk through Pinewood gardens? Would love to see that location from FRWL return with the real Bond stealthing around SPECTRE Island.
Draco company signs can be seen as Bond pulls up out the front of Gumbold's building. I knew they were placed on construction cranes for the safe-cracking moment, but hadn't spotted them in this earlier shot.
Subtitles spell 'Nymphalis polychloris', but google says Nymphalis polychloros.
Sir Hilary uses the same matches as M - Swan Vestas by Bryant & May.
"We've traced your line back to Sir Otho le Bon." Said Sir Hilary Jr to Simon.
"We never speak until we're absolutely certain there's no error on our side" - If only more people followed this advice.
Daily Express newspaper read by Campbell when Bond arrives in Switzerland is also a custom paper, and it features an article on the front regarding the rush-hour train crash, staged by Blofeld in the deleted Phidian/rooftop scene.
Blofeld's henchmen roll out the carpet for Fräulein Bunt, right to her door. Doesn't matter if the pilot slips over and breaks his neck though - everyone can fly a helicopter.

First time I saw Moonraker was on Boxing Day ( or St. Stephens Day as we call it!) Its premiere on TV. Always enjoy it, aside from the silliness and Jaws!!
