Would you rather a female Q OR a female M for the next Bond adventure?

If you're lucky, they're just announcing it by then...

Yes just in time for the 100th anniversary. Plus a long awaited video game developed by the same people that created the Hitman series. Also the 10th season of Road to a Million. LOL!

1953, north sea floods, some tornadoes in the USA, an uprising in East Germany, Eisenhower becomes lassoed.

it was quite a year, and I'm not sure I'd be too keen to see much of it, but I guess sitting in Glodeneye would leave all that misery behind, and an interview with Ian, If I'd manage (I'd just introduce myself as an agent of the future, and proof it by predicting what would happen in the next few days) would be fascinating. But staying there, nope, no, not at all. (still hiding some aeroplanes from ww2 surplus in a barn though).

2053 I hope to see without time travel. Interestingly, it would have to be 'a version' of the future, for I'd definately go back afterwards and change anything in my personal life that I don't liek the outcome of.

Perhaps it's safer to stich to 1953.
There would be a sound of thunder. Yes.

We'll probably get a novel or two with Bond ACTUALLY in them. In all seriousness, I would love to see Bond's future in 2053. We know he's too popular to be ignored, honestly.

Interesting discussion as always. Love the creative takes on both sides of this time travel experience.

Lets jump into another aspect of the Bond films. The creative team! Some bring the series to life with creative flourishes and details that make the films so wonderful to watch.

Would you rather write a Bond film OR direct a Bond film?

Two of the most important roles of the creative team. They both have a huge impact on the tone of the film. Have fun with this one, which behind the scenes role would you rather do?

Writers have been plentiful in the series. Lately Purvis and Wade have been the resident screenwriters, but others have also written for the series to great effect. Scripts often need to be polished and some ideas were abandoned in drafts. You will likely be on the job for a number of years before the film comes to light. You might have to do re-writes while the film is being shot.

    OR

Directors are one of the first hired. They are responsible for the creative process and have input into hiring the rest of the team. You will be involved in the pre and post production of the filming and the film will become your baby. Many talented directors have brought the films to life. Some have even directed multiple adventures.

Which one would you rather have? Feel free to get as creative in your answers as you wish? You can tell us who you might cast in the film or what elements or tone you might strike with your creation.

Well, I know for a fact I'm not a director, but I fancy myself a writer, so I'll say write.

I feel I can write humour pretty well, so maybe I'd be on the writing team handling that area. I like playing video games too, so best keep me away from the director's chair.

I'd rather direct because I "get" Bond.

I love and respect the character, the franchise, it's history, the Broccoli family and the fans .........especially the fans here on MI6. :) .

Also, as a go-getter, I'm confident I could direct a trilogy of Bond films, one every two years. :)

Write Bond, as I have already done. Just fan fiction short stories, of course.

Director, as that means I get to choose the tone of voice, so to speak. And you can just dump parts of the script you don't like and let the writers sweat it out until you're happy.

Directing Bond is a big job and requires a lot of experience. I do work on videos for my current work, and I have personal projects, but I'd certainly say I'm not at the level required for that role.

I'm not a scriptwriter by trade, but I guess I've been a script editor for one project, and I've written in my spare time. Between the two I'd probably be better suited to that side of things at the current time, but probably not to Purvis and Wade's pay grade!

@thedove - you forgot to delete the word "travel" from the thread title.

I think I have a knack for writing when I feel like it, but don't have any idea on how to write a screenplay (except copying the structure of those that I have available). But I definitely wouldn't know what to do as a director. Hell, I wouldn't even know what to do as an actor, except maybe like Ringo (or Buck Owens) in "Act Naturally". So I guess for the good of the world, I'd rather pass.

You should be an editor @j_w_pepper :)

I encourage everyone to just have fun with it. I didn't think we would have any film makers in our midst, though it sounds like we have people in the field, way to go @007HallY!

I have never directed anything and I have written but never a screen play but I would choose to be the director over the writer. I would love to mold a story and to set the tone for the film. I would love to work with the actors and the behind the scenes talent to bring a great adventure to the screen. I think of Peter Hunt and what he poured into OHMSS. I would love to create a film that reflects what I love about the character.

Take a risk! Be Bond! Be a part of history or Hollywood lore!

Imagine you are a stunt performer and you get to perform a stunt in a Bond film. Have fun and tell us which one would you rather do.

Would you rather water ski behind an airplane barefooted (LTK) OR Sky dive off the Eiffel Tower? (AVTAK)

Oh bloody hell, both are scary as f****. I think I'd go for the waterskiing, allthough climbing up the plane, even flying low, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do, scared out of my wits. But jumping off of the eiffel tower is not much different.

If I'm a stunt performer, none of my current fears involved, I'd jump off of the Eiffel Tower. More iconic: you can point to one landmark as opposed to just basic waterskiing, where you could do anywhere.

As me, I'd be terrified to sky-dive normally, and BASE jumping would be even worse. Waterskiing seems less scary, and also a lot more cool (at least it comes out that way in the film)

It really is an interesting choice. To me, waterskiing always looked cool and it looks easy and then you attempt to do it! LOL!

I loved that stunt in LTK and thought it looked so epic to see Bond escape the baddies in that way. I think that is the one I would rather attempt. If I can look as half as cool as the original I am taking that one for sure.

I'd rather travel write a Bond film. I'd likely travel write the Bond film through a Southeast or South Asia junket. Maybe even travel write it down to Antarctica, to get the detail of the Drake Passage correct. But yeah travel write would be the thing.

I reckon there's more skill involved in the waterskiiing, while with a skydive you just have to trust your equipment. So, in this alternate universe where I'm not a clumsy coward, I'd love to take a crack at the LTK stunt.

The story behind the Eiffel Tower jump in AVTAK is amusing. Naughty stunt man indeed.

That's the one I'd rather do.

Good stuff, that waterski stunt always awed me a bit. I don't think it gets enough love.

BTW @RichardTheBruce travel writing Bond sounds lovely and something worth doing.

Okay lets talk Q and M. Both roles are mainstays of the series and there is some question as to whether EON will recast a new set of Mi6 characters or whether the Craig crew would return. If recasting I would like to ponder this question:

Would you rather a female Q OR a female M?

The John Gardner books explored a female within Q branch and called her Q'ute. Bond even beds her. We have never had a female Q and I wonder what story dynamics or plots it might open up. Is it time for a female Quartermaster?

    OR

Go back to a female M. Tried once, or twice depending if you think they were one in the same or different characters. Judi Dench shone in the role as M and became a big part of the story. Especially TWINE and SF. One wonders if we should try a female M again?

What would you rather see in our next screen adventure?

I don't have a massive preference. I guess Q as they haven't done that before, but equally might feel a little like going through the motions.

What we should have is a female villain. It seems crazy we haven't had one in 20 years.
