Was EON invested in this game? They have done precious little to promote, or even tease it. I hope we don't see the game released to little fanfare. Course we don't even know how far along things are.

Project 007 featured in the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. IO announced that the project is coming to Switch 2, as well as their Hitman game. So the game is still in development.

    No new footage was shown.

Nintendo Switch 2 would have already been mega-hype, now even better lol.

Last console I bought was the Wii(!), so I'm long overdue for an upgrade. And what better way than with a new Bond game.

Honestly, no clue how these things work. The announcement says Amazon and EON have formed a new joint venture to hold the right. So a new Danjaq, if you will. It is unclear to me if that only covers films or everything else as well.

As you say, all the signs are it's a new Danjaq so it'll cover everything and how Bond is licensed out to books, games, CDs etc.
I guess the supposed billion was because previously the Bond rights had been split between Danjaq and MGM, but now Bond will be wholly owned by a single entity but that is co-owned between MGM and the Broccolis (if I have that right, I'm not sure I've ever 100% understood it).

Is the sound out of sync for everyone or is my computer on the blink?

It's not just you, the audio is out of sync.

I'm glad that that Project 007 is still happening, but at this point, I had hoped that we would have seen something.... anything. Even some concept art. Just something to give us an idea of what they have in store for us.

While Project 007 is not based on any particular Bond story or Bond actor, I wonder if there’s any coordination with IOI and Amazon (formerly EON) to time the release of media packets, or a new trailer, with more substantial news about the new movie.

I mean, neither needs the other, but relaunching Bond in both gaming and cinemas may get more attention from audiences in either camp that like, love or are piqued by Bond, whose media interests don’t intersect naturally.

I also wonder whether Bond in this game will still be a unique iteration, or will Amazon want their new Bond on every gaming website, gaming magazine, hobby shop and retailer in the world?

Or, is a unique creation, separate from the movies, what Amazon is looking to test or model. If Amazon is really considering spin-offs or remakes, then Project 007 may be the perfect case study to see if changing the formula, even slightly, will play. Of course, AUF from EA, featured a unique iteration of Bond, but AUF had so many of the same action beats, and actors, from the films that there wasn’t much suspension of disbelief required from players. But Project 007 seems so much more ambitious and creative that it could form its own center of gravity for a ‘James Bond Universe’ all its own.

The version of the bond must be a fictional version and not based on a potential actor kind of like agent under fire.

That Bond was a hybrid of Brosnan and Connery. Wasn't a huge fan of the voice. Caulfield voicing Brosnan’s body was even more jarring.

It's great to know that they're still releasing it after the uncertainty of the creative rights changeover, but it's pretty disappointing to have nothing more than the exact same gunbarrel animation they released 5 years ago!

I think it's a wait and see situation at this point. Amazon haven't mentioned Project 007, to the best of my knowledge.

I'm not going to pretend to be super knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the contracts, but I'm guessing the Amazon takeover will have little to no effect on the game other than their logo also being attached to it. Based on the updated promo, it is being shown right alongside the EON Productions logo.

I don't think anybody has anything to be worried about. IO Interactive is also prepping Hitman: World of Assassination for release on the Switch 2 and they've got another original game coming out. They aren't a massive studio by any means and games have a much longer production cycle these days.

It's worth saying no matter who runs Bond this game will (in theory anyway) benefit the franchise and indeed future films. Bond has such a rich history in video games and it's been so lacklustre over the past decade or so that they'll want this project to succeed and get some new audiences.

I remember that being so off putting, especially because they had hired voice actors imitating Brosnan’s voice in the past.

Something owed to how late into things that Brosnan’s likeness was secured for the game. The AuF Bond was meant to appear originally (indeed he’s still in early levels of the handheld version of Nightfire and I believe Calvin Dyson found a trailer that had the AuF Bond in it, as well). I guess it was too late/expensive to redo the voice at that point.

Here’s some footage of the AUF Bond in Nightfire as well. These seem to be from E3 in 2002.

Then oddly enough there’s this trailer that’s also from E3 2002 for Nightfire - you can’t really tell due to picture quality but the Bond in this trailer doesn’t resemble either the generic model they used for AUF or Brosnan.
