I take it you read News of the World?
Post EON James Bond or the second Trump Presidency?
Take your pick...
Like Sherlock Holmes, James Bond will live on, some versions will be loved and some versions will be hated
Even during the EON era this has been the case, some of the James Bond actors and some of the movies made have attracted plenty of vitriol from fans
Ultimately we still all get to have our say, by watching or not watching, which will still have an influence what happens going forward, just as it has in the past.
No idea what that means.
But what about Jonathan Nolan as writer/producer? He already worked for Amazon.
But overall very sad days for us Bond fans...
Yay
NB - In "No Time to Die," the SPECTRE agents use a high-tech gadget that looks like a portable anti-gravity device or a personal hover platform. They drop it down the shaft, and then they jump off and use it to float down slowly, defying gravity.
+1. I can see now how that song, as well as the ending where Madeleine is telling the story of James Bond to her daughter (who is clearly an avatar for Barbara Broccoli herself) as Barbara's final bow.
Sigh.
I've never been a fan of billionaires. With few exceptions they're cut from the same cloth. When you can buy anything you want, where's the thrill? Power and control.
I would have to agree somewhat, however you are now saying you don't like Barbara Broccoli by that standard.
Exactly. It used to be millionaires but then people found out the champagne socialists were millionaires, so they shifted their rhetoric.
Damn, that hits hard...

"They’ll be doing their best to make a lot of money, so hopefully they will make good movies."
I like what Dalton did there. Amazon hopefully understands that good Bond movies pay the bills, not mediocre ones. Medioce Bond would bore people who can easily watch a great M:I instead.
It would be a hard feat considering it ended publication back in 2011.
Thanks for that. Made a lot of sense.
I would still like to see that Danny Boyle script. Probably too risque for Amazon however.
Yup directors like Nolan and Villeneuve - big names dedicated to celebrate the theatrical experience - won’t ever work with Amazon for obvious reasons.
I think the Boyle script was the one that saw Bond return to space. They may revisit that idea at some point I guess. Not sure how I'd feel about that. I kind of feel like Moonraker should be the one and only "Bond in space" film.
It certainly does. Let's all hope that Amazon doesn't screw up the legacy of Harry, Cubby, Barbara and Michael.
I hope some more info comes out about that someday, it’s hard to picture what it would have been.
If it was "Bond in space" I have to say I'm surprised they ever countenanced doing that again, especially in the context of the more serious Craig era. But we probably don't know the full story and maybe never will.
Interesting.
There's "in space" and "in space". Bond in a rocket on his way to the Moon? No. But what about commercial space flights that are already happening, with civilians taken just high enough for the altitude to qualify as "in space"? Granted, it seems a bit strange for the Craig Bond, but in a not too distant future, this might actually be pretty "normal".
Anyway, I don't really want it either. Plenty of cool stuff can be done on Earth.
Nolan won't be directing a Bond film anytime soon. After his fallout with WB he put his "Oppenheimer" project out to auction. Universal won that auction as they agreed to specific Nolan "non-negotiables" - namely, he required the agreed upon budget of filming the movie to be matched in the marketing budget. He also required a "blackout window" in which the studio was not allowed to release or promote another of their movies from 3 weeks before the release of the film and up to 3 weeks after. He also demanded a 120 day theatrical window were the film would only be shown in theatres with no streaming or on demand release. And more importantly he demanded "full and complete" creative control of the project.
I can't imagine Amazon paying $1 billion for full creative control of the film only to then hand it over to Christopher Nolan.
Also, Universal acquiesed to all of these demands and Nolan now has a great working relationship with them. So much so, that he didn't put out his current project "The Odyssey" out to auction. But chose to work with Universal again. Citing his close relationship with the studio and more specifically Donna Langley, Chairwoman and CCO of NBCUniversal.
I really don't see Nolan helming a Bond film anytime in the future. Not only because of what I just mentioned. But also, for the fact that Nolan has expressed filming a period piece Bond film. And I definitely think Amazon will be aiming to engage and attract a younger audience with the IP.
