Raye was the best of the three, but not impressive. The other two seemed to have changed the tunes. Really poorly done. The songs and the dance completely uninspired.

I didn't mind the performances too much. I'm a fan of both Raye and Doja, don't really have much of an opinion about LIsa...

...but the thing that I've been curious about is how rushed it seemed (which in turn may have informed how off the tribute felt) and whether it was quite a last minute addition to the proceedings given the news about EON handing over the reigns to Amazon? Also worth noting that Raye, Doja Cat and Lisa's collaboration was only released about 3 weeks ago?

Doja actually mentioned nerves got to her performing that tune and saw a lot of hate, but she’s proud to have shot her shot. Good attitude on her. If she ever wants a stab at an original Bond song she has my confidence.

There are many original performers, from every decade of the film franchise, still active and in fine vocal form. ; other than not being flavor of the month there is no good reason that several could have participated in the tribute. One from each decade would have been cool, and fitting.

Unless they couldn't get them. The idea of Lulu performing at the Oscars in 2025 is a delicious one though.

I knew it would be naff, all Oscars shows are naff and disappointing.

How rubbish was the Bond segment at the Oscars? The singers murdered the songs. So much for a big announcement. They even showed a clip of Connery in NSNA which was nothing do with EON! Very shoddy work all round.

It was all a bit strange, wasn’t it? I don’t watch the Oscars so only just saw clips of the Bond tribute.

Can see Amazon trying to get Margaret Qualley as a Bond girl after that though. Maybe anyway.

Just saw a report of the Bond song tribute. Never heard of any of the singers. But I think they did a good job (anybody can sing Skyfall better than Adele, by the way). At any rate, a pointless undertaking at the Oscars this year. But then, aren't the Oscars pointless anyway?

The deal hasn't closed so no announcement was coming.

Do people announce things at the Oscars? I can't think of anything I've heard of being announced there.

Yeah that never happened. This was all just a tip of the hat to Michael and Barbara, nothing more.

I’m sure Barbara and Michael were a bit embarrassed at the quality of the so called tribute

    Who paid the tribute? Amazon?

I do kind of wonder if Eon were involved in suggesting the singers in some way, I can believe they've maybe had their eyes on some of them for singing a theme.

It was that bad I was expecting Minnie Driver to appear as Irina from Goldeneye, “strangling the cat”!

If every award and every awards show are also pointless, then yes, the Oscars are pointless.

Just imagine Phil Collins sitting in the audience having to hear his song mangled. 🙄

    That’s assuming they’re miserable snobs.
