Just saw Queer, aka "You know, Daniel Craig turned into Dirk Bogarde so gradually, I didn't even notice" (and I liked it).
These are just coincidences, rather than easter eggs, but here they are.
    – A poster for a movie starring Pedro Armendariz is seen in the streets at night
    – As it's based on the life of William Burroughs, there's an evocation of the William Tell stunt, in which he aimed for the glass of whisky on the head of his wife and missed, something that may reminisce you of a scene from Skyfall.

Regarding Oscars, the project was always a long shot. But it's very interesting to see that both Peter Finch and Colin Firth won their Oscar (for Network and A King's Speech) a few years after playing a gay character in Sunday Bloody Sunday and A Single Man.

Seems a bit similar to Golden Compass for him. Unless they want him to voice Aslan I guess, which he'd be good for.

He's rumoured to be playing Uncle Andrew Ketterley.

Depending on how this movie is, this could be Craig's first decent and serious post-Bond role. He already backed out of Purity and the creed of violence.

That would be Queer. He didn't back out of either - Purity wasn't picked up by Showtime and there hasn't been any movement on Creed of Violence since it was announced.

If Daniel Craig was attached to either, they certainly would have gotten more traction. That is the answer to why neither came about.

That’s not true. The answer to why these projects haven’t happened is because the studio/executives shelved them. For whatever reason they’re not worth pursuing at the moment in their eyes, or these projects would most definitely happen— with or without Craig.

Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be any momentum here at the moment.

Filmula? That’s the production company. The only cast attachment since 2022, or 2023 is Craig. The script is done, producers in place, but no cast outside of Craig, no movement at all.

Could be in development hell and they’re working on the script, but it sounds pretty dead at the moment.

I think the director who is attached, Justin Lin, lacks in vision. His films are usually competently assembled pieces of action. Story usually takes a backseat (personally, I haven't been able to sit through ten minutes of one of his films; I tried a couple of times to watch a few FF flicks with the kids, but bailed. Fast).

As for the Theron /Craig team up: I suppose on paper it sounds good, but outside of Monster and Furiosa, has Theron truly impressed as an actor? Does she go deep? Or is she more surface? And if the team up she had with Craig at the Oscars from a few years ago is any indication, they didn't really set the world on fire with chemistry.

Lastly, and this is based more on intuition than anything: it just doesn't sound like a project Craig would pursue post Bond. I could be wrong, and we'll see if this film comes to fruition, but, it just seems more like a producer and agents fantasy than a picture that will see the light of day.

To be fair I thought Star Trek Beyond was a really enjoyable, straightforward blockbuster that got everything right.

Well I can’t wait until Craig does get another film up and running . After Wake Up Dead Man his slate is currently not very full!

He definitely likes to take his time with his roles. We'll see if he does Othello or Narnia.

I'm sure if Barbara will share some of her billion dollar bribe with Craig for Othello.

I thought Theron was excellent in Young Adult, Tully, and Bombshell.

I don't really know what Craig wants to do with his career. It seems clear he has some good offers.

What’s your point? Of course he has good offers, he’s an A-list star.

Once again, a little redundant (?).

My point is that he's still an A-list actor.

He could be counting money in his mansion or making Knives out movies for the rest of his career.

But, yes, he still has good offers.

Well, I know he’s said in interviews that because he now has young kids he’s mindful about how much time he spends away from home and is more selective of roles. Which honestly is fair enough. It’s also worth saying he’s a big actor and will be mentioned as a potential for some big films in development, even if they’re only just rumours and/or he’s not directly involved.

I wouldn't count on Othello. Babs was producing and got Qatari money to finance it, with the understanding that Qatar would be a major location for the next Bond film. Well...that has now been blown up (no pun intended) so that would seem to leave the film in limbo.

Good point. Quite true. But she'd likely still need investors. I have not yet heard any updates that the movie is a green light, without the Qatari money. We'll see.

If Daniel Craig says he'll do Othello, Barbara Broccoli will drop everything and make sure the movie gets made with him. Just a feeling I have. Maybe even have Purvis and Wade do some script polishing. What could be a joke, has become reality for Barbara and us. Oh well. She is with DC what Martin Scorsese and Tim Burton are with their MANY same leading actors.

Any news on Two for the Money with Craig and Charlize Theron? Seems to have stalled

Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be any momentum here at the moment.
Why thankfully? Seems like a pretty good team up.

Well I can’t wait until Craig does get another film up and running . After Wake Up Dead Man his slate is currently not very full!

He definitely likes to take his time with his roles. We'll see if he does Othello or Narnia.

I wouldn't count on Othello. Babs was producing and got Qatari money to finance it, with the understanding that Qatar would be a major location for the next Bond film. Well...that has now been blown up (no pun intended) so that would seem to leave the film in limbo.

A billion dollars from Amazon in her pocket, she could just fund it herself. I mean I am sure she always could have but even moreso now.

Good point.

This all gives me another thought. With the amount of money they got and with Bond hitting public domain in 2035, what's keeping her from undercutting Amazon at that time and reclaiming Bond for EON?
