We can debate which actor is the next best fit to carry the series forward but we have to ask ourselves is the actor interested in being Bond?

Mr Burton is getting decent reviews, could do well for Harry Lawtey.

Yes, please. Lawtey would work as James Bond.

A bit chameleonic, he is. Could very well work. Just keep his hair longer and darker, and yeah, I can see it.

For me it took until Skyfall for Daniel Craig to feel really settled into the role of 007. Part of that was that in both CR and QoS Bond was still very rough around the edges, but I think they kept just enough to make it feel like Bond. I do think there is a certain amount of leeway with what you can leave out or add in, provided it works for the story you are tellling.

Let's not forget that CR and QoS were mainly a two-parter origin story for Bond.

True. And they should've ended the story arch there.

Yeah. That was clearly the intention. Even the gunbarrel at the end of QoS was there for the arc's conclusion. But after SF made a billion...understandably, EON wanted SF's DNA in Craig's subsequent Bond films. But SF...even with its limited action, couldn't be top and is clearly better than SP & NTTD.

My views exactly. CR and SF are Craig's best. The others are a bit of filling, with some good stuff thrown in.

He would have to put on a tad of weight, but he is an intriguing prospect.

I thought his being Australian counted Chris Hemsworth out, but I saw him as a Man In Black and he looked good. His documentary shows depth and I am sure he can put that in a role. We have had an Aussie Bond before many here would agree the result was a great movie. Can Hemsworth modify his accent ? I don't know about that, not being Aussie or British.

His name has come up; depending on what they want to do, I think he could handle the role.

I think Chris Hemsworth is a good actor. But we've already seen him multiple times, and won't be surprised by him. For me, one of the stars I would have liked for the role, if he were younger and British, would have been Jon Hamm. Also, Hamm isn't that frequent in films like Hemsworth, so I can imagine Hamm being more interesting. Not going to happen of course, but just saying.

I think him already being in his 40s will probably rule him out. The accent… I didn’t like his posh English accent in Rush, but I’m sure he’d get it right for 007. Time, though, is not on his side.

Yeah agreed, ideally fill out a bit, but he's a very good actor. One of those with a very natural delivery who catches your attention when he's on screen. I could see him doing something interesting with it.

Yes agreed, he'd be a bit... safe. He's fine, not great, not hugely interesting but is an effective star.
Also as mentioned he's had a lot of films in which to crack an English accent (all his Thors, Rush, Men in Black etc.) and he's never got it right.
Funnily enough, two of those films were with Tessa Thompson, who I think does an amazing British accent. I was surprised to find out she wasn't.

Pierce can get a run for his money. Harry Lawtey starring as Pouty McPouterton. What's with this guy? Yuck.

Current favorite. Although I'm not mad about his accent, where's it from, gents? Anyone knows? A bit rough isn't it? He can, of course, do whatever accent he wants. And maybe he is a bit too tall? At 1,88... Anyhow, he could bring his Industry costar Marisa Abela along. That would be deeply appreciated.

Looks a bit young, but could work I guess.

I was watching A Real Pain, and although he’s not Bondy at all in it, I was struck by Will Sharpe; he’s just a really good performer. Recently in the White Lotus too. Not typical Bond looks but he’s good looking and well built; I don’t know if he’d be interested but he’s good.

I considered him after WL season 2 also. I thought he was the standout in the Giri/Haji miniseries where he played a rather witty rentboy. He's got some range on him.

I must watch Giri/Haji, yeah; would you recommend? I guess the only thing is he is a director himself, not sure it would be something that interests him.

I've made a decision - mtm is the one to impress. I've studied his critiques. I know his criteria.

Yeah, it's a decent watch, kind of oddball but I think you'd enjoy it. It's been a while since I saw it and the main thing that sticks with me is that Will Sharpe stole the show (and I'm a Kelly Macdonald fan).

Cool thank you, I need a show; one of those which fell through the to-watch list! :)

Harry Lawtey just looks a bit too average to be 007. I’ve only seen him in Joker, but he has a fairly ordinary appearance. He doesn’t have the striking looks of Dalton or Brosnan, nor the rugged presence of Craig.

Jacob Elordi has a similar feel as Dalton in these new photos from Vogue

Lawtey is good, but reads so young. Then again, I guess Dickinson does too.
