I was referring to the 2005 Lowry remasters. I haven't got AppleTV so I can not comment on their picture quality

They're alright I guess; I was hoping for a cool new painting or something, but they're good images.
I like the big retro 007 logo; funny to use two different versions of the logo in the same artwork.

Here's the regular set cover. Not bad! And actually the back says Dolby Vision hooray!!!

I would swap the disc colors of DN & YOLT, and make TB a dark blue, and all the disc colors schemes would match the movies perfectly in my mind. Definitely picking this up once I can afford it, and it’ll instantly become one of my favorite things in my 4K collection naturally. Looking forward to Moore, Brosnan, Dalton, and Lazenby all coming as well, though I wonder how they’ll do it exactly for those latter two.

The 4k Apple tv versions are fantastic, but no doubt a physical disc will be better quality.

I might put these on a gift list.... but I'm not going to be watching Bond movies in the apocalypse, so the optimist in me is fine with going digital forever. I have the Bond 50 set + Skyfall, don't like SPECTRE or NTTD, so I'm good.

These steels are abysmal and that's even before the back 'artworks' have been revealed.
They were not even capable of choosing the most suitable stills for each movie, despite having access to hundreds of them. That's even a lazier effort than what they've done with the previous Bond steelbooks. Shame.

I’m at a point where I couldn’t care less about the artwork. I would prefer using the theatrical posters, otherwise it’s not something that makes or breaks a purchase.

I'm starting to get old of this Japanese fetish people have. It's becoming cliche.

Oh really, they made it up? Where’s that one from? Maybe different regions. I do prefer that one though.

Don’t read Fleming’s You Only Live Twice.

Yes, the early white collection pic was a fake. Those sites likes to produce fakes to direct traffic to their pages.

HDR? Original audio? Extras ported over? I'm glad I've got my pre-order in! As long as the other actors' sets follow in a reasonable time frame I might happily part with my Bond 50 set.

That's where I'm at. While I'd prefer the poster art, I can live with the production stills. I wish they had chosen better ones, but we've at least come a long way from the weird photoshop covers of the Special Editions and some of those blasphemous airbrush jobs of the initial Blu-ray run. These play it far safer.

I don't think they're bad stills at all. But I actually prefer the standard edition artwork, I think it's really quite stylish.

"From Dave Norris: "The new UHD HDR masters are derived from brand-new scans of the original negatives performed last year (2024). The Atmos audio mixes are also new, and not merely upmixes
    from the old 5.1"

Just looked at my account and I haven't posted for around 4 years but I have always taken the time to read what's going on in the forums. It looks like we're getting brand new scans for the Connery films that were done only last year instead of repurposed old scans i.e Lowry. I just hope they do these films justice and its not 'enhanced' by A.I.

That’s great news, TheDigitalBits is reporting the same thing.

    These sound worth picking up.

I know the Amazon takeover was big, but learning these Connery films are 4K scans from the original film with new HDR Dolby Vision is the most exciting Bond news since NTTD. Also, I find the steelbook art for Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and DAF quite tasteful -- FRWL and YOLT I would've went with a different still. Very excited for this!

I agree. I think the YOLT one unintentionally looks like he's against a blue screen instead of a sky (which is funny because the Thunderball still is a behind the scenes photo, and yet I think it works well in capturing the spirit of the film). The FRWL one could have been a better Bond-focused shot instead of one where we know Kerim is just off to the side. Minor quibbles though. I'm happy with the look overall.

Debating on pre-emptively unloading my Bond 50 set in anticipation for the other films to follow. They seem to be in good hands at Warner, and I won't be sorry to lose the awkward sleeves that house the discs.

Very likely a production still of Connery on set against a blue screen that wasn’t processed for print. That would have been the easiest thing for anyone to touch up when putting these steelbook designs together.

I think it’s a real missed opportunity that the hand drawn artwork from the original releases couldn’t be sourced for the steelbooks. The only one I’m a real fan of is Goldfinger, mostly because I’ve always liked that still of Connery. Thunderball’s is at least atmospheric to the film.

I would have recycled the 2015 steelbook art based on the main titles. I never actually got any of them because I didn’t wanna buy the blu-rays again, but I would have gone for 4K easily.
