Sky has unveiled the logo for its James Bond-dedicated Sky Movies 007 HD channel and a promotional advert featuring all six Bond actors in a single car chase.

Sky Movies 007 HD is due to launch on 5 October and will kick off with the first film in the franchise - Dr No - before going on to air all 23 Bond movies without ad breaks.

The logo debuted today ahead of a TV and cinema advert that brings together all six actors who have played the lead role in a single car chase sequence.

Sky brand director Lucian Smithers said the logo marked the first time Sky had incorporated another logo with its own in a single piece of creative.

“Partnering our logo with Bond’s 007 emblem shows just how passionate and excited we are about the arrival of this brilliantly British film franchise to our service in its 50th anniversary year,” he said.

The channel was announced in August after Sky picked up the rights to the Bond catalogue from ITV in April.

Don't worry, it's an image and as such can be resized for all sorts of purposes. It's not like a human that grows to a certain point and then remains constant. It will be all sorts of different sizes depending on the medium in which it's displayed. Web, print, TV, cinema. It'll look a different size on all of these. Its size also correlates to the distance at which you stand from it. If I put my face to the screen it looks massive. If I stand on the other side of the room it looks small.

So, I'm going to guess that "all 23 Bond movies" means EON's 22 official ones and Never Say Never Again, or do they have the rights to air Skyfall already?

It's either a mistake or they're referencing SF - which will inevitably have its debut on this channel. No NSNA.

That's a mighty ugly and massive logo.

All their logos look like this. It's part of their branding.

    As an example...

It was always going to look like this.

I thought this was about a new official 007 logo, like these: http://www.abstractfonts.com/forum/images/c5cd640eed50139607614df4c571a94b.png
  • Don't care much about Sky or the logo but I thought the video was pretty cool!

    The trailer is quite nice.

    The logo is nothing special.

Here's a nice bit of trivia from Empire Magazine on Twitter:

The icing on the Bond Channel promo cake? The voiceover at the end is by Colin Salmon, the best Bond that never was.

That trailer is quite "inspired" by the great Tom Waldek. Please pay tribute to his work...
  • I think the trailer is really well done, at least they've thought about it a bit and come up with something cool.

Sky have the rights to all 23 EON films plus Casino Royale 67 and Never Say Never Again.

I like the trailer, I think it's quite clever. The logo is fine, maybe be a little long winded but it's decent.

I thought the trailer was done nearly flawlessly. The only obvious bit was Moore, but it was quite fun.
  • My wife will be so pleased (not) that I can now watch Bond movies all the time via my Sky movies. Cool.
  • Great trailer. I have Sky plus Sky sports but not Sky Movies. I would be tempted to add this but I've already got all the Bond movies on DVD and will be getting the Blu-ray Boxset also. Great for the casual fan / viewer though and hopefully will help convert a new generation into being fanatical fans like us.

That trailor was brilliant! Best moment for me was the smile between Brosnan and Moore! :)) Very well put together!
  • Whoever edited this deserves a commendation.
    Two resounding thumbs up!!!

The 2008 Bonds, James Bonds (Bond vs Bond) is not from Waldek. It was uploaded by simianj. And, well, it has the same smile! :-?

SKY is a satellite service provider.

Those trailers were excellently edited together.

Great trailor, but still hate sky for what they have done to everything they touch.
Money talks as per usual. At least we all have our collections of videos and dvds to watch !
I would not get the channel just yet, if anyone is thinking about it, as it is probably a stunt. Sign up to sky because you want that channel to be added to package and give it a few months and they will pull it for something else.

I agree with the others about the logo.Hopefully they will make it shorter or something. Overall ok commercial.I can dig it :)

I thought of the same when I saw the video. This one is better than Sky's commercial.
