in matter of fact it should be done right now to keep us pumped up for B23
But - would it be fun?... sure it would be... i often said it would've been fun to have a fake website for Green Planet back during the months leading up to QOS - in which Dominic Greene might even welcome visitors to his website with a video - and explaining what the organization does... little things like that i think are fun... but in the case with Bond - aren't a priority..
but it should be more than a website game:
1) an official facebook page with competitions, exclusive content, ...
2) a cellphone james bond app: some new apps offer gps powered offline challenges, like finding hidden things or just chase your friends via gps, you could create a Bond themed game: like goldeneye 64 offline or a kind of sherlock holmes mission, where you have to find ficitonal Bond items in reallife (say there is the golden gun hidden in the nearby park, I have to find it faster than my firends), this works globally as the targets would be set at random
3) a youtube channel with INTERACTIVE videos (where you can choose your own outcome, there are already some cool videos like that), outtakes, ...
Either way, sounds interesting.
Unless you mean, take the "put everything into it" approach, which also normally goes wrong...
and the first trailer for Goldeneye did not feature Brosnan's name at all...... but it's more acceptable that they would advertise "Brosnan as 007" for those films, because Pierce was already pretty well known.. he had a successful TV show in which he was the lead - and also a few other films in which he starred in and was the lead, that were semi successful before Goldeneye came out...
in terms of getting the product out there and showcasing it - they did a marvelous job i thought.. hell, you couldn't go a single day of watching TV without seeing a Bond commercial - and this was a solid 2 months before the films opened - the trailers were attached to almost every blockbuster movie those summers.. their marketing was fine.. that's one thing Sony/Columbia know how to do correctly..
Where I live, the local Regal multiplex had the teaser poster out for CR about 6 months before it was released.. then the official poster came out about 2-3 months before the film came out... and i recall seeing the teaser trailer and official trailer numerous times that summer and fall leading up to release - as well as a barage of TV spots..
for QOS, I remember seeing the teaser poster with just "007" on it around the same amount of time before the film was released - maybe even a little earlier.... then poster 2 came out, with the official title - the one with Craig holding the rifle.. then about 2-3 months before the film was released, the official QOS with both Bond and Camille came out... again - there was numerous TV spots.... if i recall 1 teaser trailer - and one 1 official trailer... i know there was at least 1 trailer that did get a lot of circulation..
for DAD, i remember seeing only 1 trailer in theaters.. and i remember 2 posters, one with the p99 on the block of ice - and the official one.... same thing with TWINE and TND - anything before that i can't recall, because my first Bond movie in the theater was TND - but i only remember ever 2 posters for all the movies - QOS was the first that I saw 3..
typically - only 2 posters are released for films - unless your talking about a comic book movie, where they feel the need to advertise multiple characters for the film.. DAD might be the exception, because i remember seeing character posters online - but I never saw them in my local theater.... but anymore - unless it's a gigantic summer blockbuster - all your going to get is 2 posters... and for me, that is more than enough... wet our appetites with a teaser poster - then give us the goods leading up to the release.. anything more i think you start getting into overkill mode in terms of posters..
trailers - there are typically only 2 that are ever made.. a teaser, and the official one... it's on rare occasion where a film will get 3 trailers or multiple official ones..
Connery/Lazenby/Moore/Dalton posters >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brosnan posters >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Craig posters

Bond 23 desperatly needs another Domino or Fiona... Both would be even better. The tragic failure of CR and QOS must be repaired quickly, or else. Less lingering on shirtless Craig, more female sex symbols, more Q, more Moneypenny, more Bond theme, less Arnold, less Dench, more humour, more escapism, more glamour, more fun !!

only 1 comes to mind of being remotely close to being memorable - and that was Xenia from Goldeneye - but i would still take Rider and Romanova over her any day of the week.. Elektra and Magda are close seconds - but Elektra lacked the "sexiness" to be a memorable Bond girl/villainess - like how Fiona did in Thunderball - sorry - but thats the way it goes...
so to squarely place the blame on the recent Craig films is a bit short sighted... they've recently tried to give us that "sexy" Bond girl - with Denise Richards, too bad she less acting talent than a wet carrot.. i know Rosamund Pike is a favorite to a lot of guys on here - but i thought she looked absolutely horrible in Die Another Day - not one bit sexy.. Halle Berry only had one sexy scene - and she's another i don't find too horribly attractive either....
in my opinion - the very last of the memorable Bond girls were Solitaire and Anya Amasova.. they were the last of a dying breed..
