I'm just back from SKYFALL, Do you agree Bardem was a classic villain?

After Sanchez and Zorin (My personal favourites) I thought Mr. Bardem ranked very highly. He had Charisma and humour. Great to see the audience for the film was a good mix of youth and classic fans like me (I'm 36) and their were lots of laughs at The Grants VUE in Croydon.

    Yes I do - very near the top of the pile. All the better for me because I was sceptical when I first saw the blond wig and general look

    I think he was fantastic! As time goes on i think most people will agree too, but i am sure there will be others who were not so keen?

    Best since Sanchez for sure. Bardem stole the film. He was camp, evil, insane and OTT.

    I was also impressed at the little things in his portrayal. If you watch this and then No Country for Old Men, even the speed he blinks at is remarkably different (far faster in skyfall)

    As a big Casino Royale fan (as my Avatar suggests) I thought Le Chiffre is one of the best villains but Senor Bardem has manged to upstage him. Very impressed and a worthy adversary. Makes Dominic Green look like a complete wuss!

    Thanks for the feedback, I really enjoyed the film. I wanted to come here and talk to my fellow Bond fans. After the film finished all I wanted to do was come here!

    The rats metaphor is right up there with the coin toss dialogue in No Country for Old Men, classic.

    Javier Bardem totally dominated the film, too bad his first appearance is so late in it. Every scene he is in is great.

    Best acting performance in a Bond film since Chris Walken.

    Yeah I thought he was magnificent. He certainly had one of the best entrances of the series and his demise, although quite simple, was pretty tense and effective.

    He was a powerhouse. He lit up the screen every time he appeared. I cant remember the last Bond villain that was this good. Best Bond viallan ever? Maybe. I think an Oscar nom not out of the question.
    The scene when he first appeared was mesmeric. It looked like one take and Javier nailed it to perfection. Amazing

    Will the producers ever listen to the fans. I doubt it, otherwise they would have done what everyone here has been requesting and put the gunbarrel back at the bloody start where it belongs. The anticipation of great things to come that this signals has now gone completely.

    if the producers (and the rest of the filmmakers) listened to all the fans, then each film would be a jumbled up mess, because each fan would want something different.... if that ever happened, we would get a film about as incoherent as the 1967 Casino Royale..

    Yes, there is no doubt Bardem played one of the series' best roles. Best villain in years.

    Not really refering to either plot or story was merely saying that 99% of fans here want the gunbarrel back at the begining. Having said that, i think the current team have very little interest in impressing the fans who pay their hard earned cash to keep the franchise in profit and seem to be much more concerned with impressing the critics

    Fair point. Bardem is great by the way easily the best Bond villian since Max Zorin and sharing many of the same qualities quite apart from the blondness. A really fine cast all round.

    Maybe the gun barrell will return to the start of the next film. Afterall we ended with Q, Moneypenney and M as a man. Casino, Quantum and Skyfall are the reboot trioligy.

    Great to hear everyone enjoyed Bardem. Can't believe Judi's gone though, I can only imagine she wanted to quit, the next film will miss her gravitas. Ralph Fiennes will I'm sure do a very good job. Moneypenney is sexy, that's great but sad Q never said his "I never joke about my work 007" still their's more films to come.

    He was very flemingian , I think. Something from the pages, and I believe the first bi-sexual villain in the franchise to date. I wonder if "the scene" was in the movie, just because years ago when Craig was hired, there were these strange rumors, that Craig's Bond would have a homosexual relationship with Felix Leiter. Just wondered, if it was just a wink at those people who reported such nonsense back then when the anti-Craig movement was strong.

    if they didn't listen to the fans on some level, i think the series would've fallen off it's wheels by now.... does that mean they always make their decisions based on every fan's needs and desires? No... in terms of the GB, it was a judgment call made by the director, and they obviously stood by and agreed with his creative decision..

    in short - do they need to listen to fans for any and everything? No.... but do they pay attention to the fans? of course they do.

    Sanchez is outstanding. You hated and loved him at the same time. Dalton was the right Bond for him!

    Silva was a great villain, the best in the last 20 odd years. Is he the best villain of the series? Debatable but I personally wouldn't say so. I'd say he's definitely somewhere in the top 5.

    The only time they really listened to the fans, to me, is when they brought Q back for TMWTGG.

    It amazes me that one little change with the GB causes so much stir.

    Anyway, Silva is as weird as Scaramanga & Blofeld in the novels.

    Judi is almost 80 years old. And why should Q say that again? If he does, you'll get moaning in the vein of "oh noes teh dialoguing is nut originul".

    And that has nothing to with Silva.
