It's not a mistake - there is no third place. Connery and Brosnan are equal Bonds for me. Only if you'd torture me I'd say Connery is better ;)
    Are hot coals sufficient?
LOL, your list is fine by me.... as long a Dalton is onatop. ;)
  • Want to start this by saying I think all of them are great actors and played the Bond that they played to the best of their ability and were perfect for their era, but for the representation of Bond that I like most:

    1. Connery (just watched his movies again, his first 4 performances are nearly flawless)
    2. Dalton (best 2 movie stretch since the first 4)
    3. Craig (haven't seen SF yet, may change)
    4. Lazenby (wish he'd done at least one more)
    5. Brosnan (after GE didn't have much to work with)
    6. Moore (loved him in LALD and FYEO)

    Onatopp? Your accent......Georgian!
  • 1.) Sir Thomas Sean Connery
    2.) Pierce Brendan Brosnan
    3.) Daniel Wroughton Craig
    4.) Timothy Peter Dalton
    5.) Sir Roger George Moore
    6.) George Robert Lazenby

If Skyfall is good, Craig will definitely be moved to number 2.

Can see what you mean...Craig is fifth at the moment, directly behind Brosnan on my list...all Skyfall needs to do is be average at worst and he will take 4th spot in my rankings....think he will do it ;)

    2. Lazenby
    3. Connery
    4. Moore
    5. Brosnan
    6. Craig

The only change is Lazenby, whom has knocked Connery into 3rd place.

    1. Connery (simply the best)
    2. Lazenby (really liked him as Bond)
    3. Dalton (best Bond since Connery post DAF)
    4. Craig (good actor - almost pips Dalton - but have yet to see SF)
    5. Moore (his best was his first, though TSWLM was fun)
    6. David Niven (the gentleman Bond)
    7. Brosnan (sadly never lived up to the hype)

It's funny though. I think Lazenby is the weakest Bond, but it may be partly because we only got to see him for one film. Even though I didn't think he was great I would still have much preferred him in good versions of YOLT and DAF.
No matter how strong or weak his performance in OHMSS is you can't change the fact that he's a pig. So many poor girls forced to deal with them, and many between the sheets. Then he brags and cajoles about it like he expects everyone to praise him. I'll praise you George, by sticking my foot somewhere you won't like it, and you won't be able to sneer your way out of the pain.

I think Lazenby comes across as boastful. Connery never bragged about his personal life or how many women wanted him.

Lazenby forgets as an actor he was not good enough. He was not an actor and fooled Harry. I mean he had lines overdubbed in the film which is a minus. But I liked OHMSS and felt Diana Rigg deserved a better 007 like Sean.

Lazenby looked good as Bond but came across clumsily in parts. Peter Hunt may as well be the guy who takes credit for making Lazenby serviceable. Sure Terence Young groomed Sean, but Sean could act and had it anyway. I mean in DAF, Connery is still fine. I actually love the campness of the film.

And he would not have survived by acting like a mega star on set which upset Cubby as well as Dana. He blew it and should quit I could have done the 7 films if I wanted. He still has not wisened with age it seems.

And the irony is that the worst actor arguably got the best film.

The constant need to compare has always been a bit funny. I remember the eighties. Roger Moore WAS the best Bond ever. Most people I knew thought so. At that time I was still thinking Sean was the best Bond. Then the nineties came and Brosnan was the best Bond. After that Craig was the best Bond in the new millenium... Since then people has been starting to promote Lazenby and Dalton.

Well, the thing is - it doesn't really matter. We all love the guy in some incarnation. We all have something we identify with. When I grew up, I wanted to be tough. That's why I thought Sean was the best. Now, when I am in my forties I value other things. Today I just love the Bond that Roger Moore did. But there is at least one movie by all of the actors I like. So here is my CURRENT list. I suppose it will change.

    1. Roger Moore
    2. Sean Connery
    3. Daniel Craig
    4. Timothy Dalton
    5. George Lazenby
    6. Remington Steele (or was his name Brosnan)

Even if Pierce is put last, I still love Goldeneye as one of the top 5 Bond movies.

    Pre-Skyfall viewing:

    1. Connery
    2. Moore
    3. Lazenby
    4. Craig
    5. Brosnan
    6. Dalton

I expect Craig to move up the list with Skyfall's release, potentially even as high as #2 or 1. But I really disliked Quantum of Solace as a film, so Casino Royale is the only positive piece I have to work with at the moment, and it still places Craig above Brosnan and Dalton (who I feel did capture the spirit of Fleming, but failed to impress me as Bond).
  • For the record, I like all the Bonds and I think they all did/are doing a great job. I just like some more than others.

    1) Dalton
    2) Brosnan/Craig (saw SF and now I can't make up my mind)
    3) Connery
    4) Moore
    5) Lazenby
  • If you change the decades the listing would be totally different. It depends with age, which was the first Bond you saw etc. Still:
Connery & Moore are the backbone. Sean set the standard Roger was smart to own it in his way, thus 7 films.
Brosnan,-had Rem St. not extended he was cast before Dalton.( Credit M. Cambell)
Craig (again M Cambell a man who knows how to restart the series)
Dalton (deserved more, and better scripts)
Lazenby The man is no actor, but had balls, and a suicide line: this never happened to the other fella. ANYONE that said that line was done.

    1. Craig
    2. Connery
    3. Dalton
    4. Brosnan
    5. Moore
    6. Lazenby

Although if I could choose one actor to have a coffee with, I would choose Sir Roger Moore, no question. ;)
  • 1. Craig
    2. Connery/Moore (Connery if I had to choose perhaps by an inch, but I love Roger Moore as Bond maybe more than I should.)
    3. Brosnan
    4. Dalton (who's criminally underrated)

    5. Lazenby (Wooden performance, great at fighting though, I understand he's not an actor, but he brought the whole film down a bit. That being said OHMSS does have problems of it's own.
  • 1. Craig

    2. Dalton
    3. Connery
    4. Moore

    1. Connery for his style and presence, good in serious & funny moments
    2. Dalton (balanced performance overall and human)
    3. Craig (very good but too serious in QoS) - have not seen SF yet ... I hope he goes up in the list
    4. Moore (nice and natural but too many jokes)
    5. Brosnan (charming but not too convincing)
    6. Lazenby (had some good moments but apparently not so many as the others)
