    4. Moore - really don't get why people like this so much
    5. Dalton - just a bit.......meh.
    6. Lazenby - I was cringing when I first saw that from OHMSS. Just terrible.

Well for a start it's number 3 on your list so you must like something about it...
Its my number 1, and that reason being is the fact Moore is clearly making a deal of the line and is emphasised by the great 'Bond Meets Solitaire' cue. Why does it make it a good thing? Because I would love to say my own name to someone like that, whilst George Martin's track kicks in. To conclude - coolness is what make Moore's my favourite!

  • For me, it is as follows:

    1) Roger Moore
    2) Sean Connery
    3) Pierce Brosnan
    4) Daniel Craig
    5) Timothy Dalton
    6) George Lazenby

The overall best "Bond, James Bond" moment for me is in the casino in Octopussy. Suaveness and coolness personified and, because of it, almost menacing for me.

As much as I love Brosnan's, it has to come in second. Connery's delivery is pure perfection, and him lighting the cigarette just adds to the beauty of it. It cannot be beat.

Well, firstly I never said I hated it. Just think it's a tad overrated. I put it at four cause I think Lazenbys and Daltons are just too dull/bad to put above it. Not saying I don't like Moore's Bond though.

Connery's line form when we first meet him in Dr No is the introduction that every other Bond actor has and tries to live upto. So much so that, Connery's delivery of the line is one of the hardest aspects of any Bond actor to pull off. Every subsequent actor post Connery has said this and it's the line that audiences anticipate from every Bond actor to pull off. Why? All because Connery set a benchmark that nobody will ever match. They may come close but they'll never match it let alone surpass it.

I'm surprised to see Craig so high on some people's lists (someone even has him at no.1!)

I have to be honest, as much as I love him in CR I've always thought his line was jarring. I thought this the first time I saw it and I still think it now. There's just something awkward about it, you can almost see him thinking 'better not f*ck this up'.

I'm a die-hard Moore fan but I'd have to give it to Connery. I don't think there's ever been a delivery as good as in DN.

I really didn't like the way Lazenby said it with that goofy smile on his face. His was the only delivery that I hated. Everyone else made the line sound cool but with him, he was just a regular Joe Schmo saying his name.

1-Connery, who else? We judge the following Bonds by the standard he set.
    2-Timothy Dalton
    3-Daniel Craig
    4-Pierce Brosnan
    5-Roger Moore
    6-George Lazenby

    1. Connery - perfect and one of the iconic moments in cinema
    2. Craig - also superb in CR
    3. Brosnan - not for everyone, but I have always really liked the delivery
    4. Moore - the highest he will ever come on a poll of mine...delivers the line well.
    5. Dalton - too throwaway
    6. Lazenby - hate his delivery
  • Connery - Essence of suave and cool.
Brosnan - Also great, but lacks the confidence of Connery's delivery.
Craig - Works perfectly in the film, feels a little less than the others on its own though.
Moore - Also works great in the film considering the circumstances.
Dalton - Throwaway, but also works considering he's in a hurry.
Lazenby - Something just feels really odd about it.

Other than Lazenby they all work remarkably well.

Both Connery & Craig: the first because it's just so cool with him smoking a cigarette and the second because you're so glad that he has captured White. And of course his little smile after he said it.

I don't see how it's awkward or forced tbh. And opinions are beautiful things.

Dalton's 2 deliveries never sounded right to me... i don't know what it exactly is - i think at times he's trying too hard to make it not sound forced, that it comes out awkward - and they also picked weird moments for him to say it as well

Connery is the best with Brosnan being the worst by far.

I wish we'd go back the "My name is", as it should be and not "The name's", who introduced that and why?
    I agree entirely!

    1. Connery - That Introduction Scene is unbeatable!
    2. Moore - Sir Roger gives a golden delivery everytime!
    3. Brosnan - The line in GoldenEye is magic on the ears.
    4. Lazenby - Spoken with good confidence and style.
    5. Craig - I think on Craig it feels a little too gruff maybe.
    6. Dalton - The line just doesn't work for Dalton's intensity.

Connery and Moore might be tied for it though :D

    1. Sean Connery. - Never really enjoyed the classic Bond movies growing up, but now that I am getting older I've started to apprechiate them more.

    2. Pierce Brosnan. - I grew up with Brosnan as Bond, and I've always loved the way he played the part. Sort of feminine with a touch of badassery. Especially in GoldenEye. Rewatching his other films now actually make me cringe.

    3. Timothy Dalton. - I just always love that scene. He quickly answers the question, he doesnt have time for chit chatting with the girl.

    4. Daniel Craig. - Rewatching that seen without the build-up, I feel like he doesnt really deliver the line that well. But it's pretty good nonetheless.

    5. Roger Moore.. - He was a good Bond, but not my favorite delivery of the line.

    6. George Lazenby. - Have to rewatch OHMSS. Probably my least watched Bond movie, but as I am listening to the audio book of it, I'm starting to like the story alot.

You're right. Dare we say... it was forced? It seems to me that if it would've been up to him, he wouldn't have said it.

  • In my opinion, nothing beats Sean Connery's "Bond.... James Bond" in the opening of Dr. No. I also enjoy Roger Moore's "hesitating" approach in For Your Eyes Only, like he suddenly recalls his first name. :)

Without Connery the line would never have the meaning it has, so....

    Connery
    Moore
    Brosnan
    Graig
    Lazenby
    Dalton

This is almost the reverse of who I think liked as best actor!
