Who should/could be a Bond actor?

  • What's worrying is that the press seem to be doing dual articles on the next Bond/who should be in that 50 shades of grey film...it's like who ever gets one role will get the other

Next Bond for me? Well if Sir Roger doesn't get offered, I wouldn't mind Christian Bale

Should be an unknown. An unknown will offer something fresh to the franchise. And do we want Batman to play Bond? Nah, Bale had his big franchise (he also appeared in the Terminator franchise), let a less known actor have his chance with Bond. :)
  • Nicholas Hoult

Defo he will play Bond within 10 years.

He might be the one after DCs successor.

Assbender for three films then our man Nick.

  • Tony from Skins? Bit too gormless looking for Bond surely?

DC seems to think that Steven Gerrard would make a great Bond.

I think DC is wrong in this case.

Scrubs up nicely - watch out for Jack the Giant Slayer/Killer in 2013 - it'll make him a star.
  • Fassbender's too old, Hardy wouldn't take it.

I reckon Jonathan Rhys Meyers isn't a bad shout, but he's 35 now. He does look very much younger, though.

I'd also suggest Martin Compston for 10 years time, when he's lost the puppy fat and scrubbed up a bit. He's a cracking actor, and could definitely do the dark heart of Bond.

Don't know if his English is up to much, but Maxi Iglesias has an interesting look, and holds a strong screen presence.

Also, half the cast of Game of Thrones would have made good Bonds, past or future: Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Iain Glen, Liam Cunningham...

I always thought there wre potential actors that could've been Bond:

Cary Grant (if only the Bond movie came out in the early 50's, Grant would've been perfect for Bond, he proved it from several of his movie including North by Northwest)

    cary.jpg

    CaryGrantBond.jpg

Sam Neill: I was aware of his screentest video when he tried out for The Living Daylight. I thought he could've nailed Bond like on the style as Dalton (maybe better).

    Clive Owen:

    Clive%20Owen2.jpg

    0013729c050d081d228305.jpg

Before Daniel Craig was selected to be Bond, Owen was my biggest contender to take over Bond after Brosnan. He does a good job in action movies, if you seen his driving in those BMW commercials, you know he would nail the character really well. He matches Bond's height (both him and Bond are 6'4'). That and his face really does yell "Bond, James Bond"

    After Daniel Craig:

    Tom Hardy:

    hb-tomhardy-040412-liwcjx-mdn.jpg

    NEtGeeMCxWoKxw_1_2.jpg

    hardy1.jpg

Tom Hardy has stated in a interview he would love to play as 007.

    http://www.movieweb.com/news/tom-hardy-wants-to-play-james-bond-for-christopher-nolan

Now I know Hardy has the look and he has done 2 spy film, so he might have potential. His look does fit 007's personality. Hardy is like a younger version of Daniel Craig so he may have Bond material in him.

    Michael Fassbender:

    fassbender.jpg

    michael-fassbender-weighs-possibility-replace-daniel-craig-as-james-bond.jpg

When I see the first image above, I can imagine him as Bond. Although he had no plan to take over Daniel Craig's role as Bond, I think he has Bond material in him. Beside, the fake Chris Nolan's Bond trailer. A lot of people said Fassbender had a Sean Connery aura/persona in Fassbender that also add in to his Bond potential according to this interview:

    http://screenrant.com/michael-fassbender-james-bond-benm-117237/

I would love either both Hardy or Fassbender to take over 007 after Daniel Craig, both of them has 007 character and potential.

There are actors I don't want as Bond:

Robert Pattinson: Because of Twilight, I don't want him as Bond because it'll infect the Bond fandom with Twilight fangirls, and I don't want all the Twilight fangirls to say "Edward is a better Bond then anybody else, Daniel Craig suck, Pierce Brosnan is not hot, blah blah blah. Tom Hardy is not hot looking enough".

Jason Staham: bald-head 007 does not fit the character and his look. Also because he does a lot of martial art, he'll turn James Bond into Bruce Lee not a superspy. So keep him away from James Bond. I would want him as a bad guy in the next Bond film.

Clive Owen has no charisma IMO abd just bores ms to tears. Even the sound of his voice is coma-inducing. We really dodged a bullet there.

Only one clear choice now - I'm sure EON have got them on their shortlist.

Go on Joshua Bowman or should it be JB? The god's have spoken.

Some people said almost similar thing about Daniel Craig, and look what happen, turns out Craig portray Bond very close to the novel incarnation. Also I think Clive could've pulled it off also.

Some do, some don't. I still think Clive could've been a good Bond. Guess we'll never know. There was a lot of UK actors that may have fit James Bond 007.
  • I hate to repeat myself but Scott Adkins would be brilliant. He'd definetly be the best fighter out of all the Bonds.

Sorry but Clive Owen is no where near in the same league of acting, screen presence and charisma as Craig. Like I said, we really dodged a bullet.

That maybe your opinion, but I think he could've still pull it off if he was selected. When people heard about Daniel Craig was selected to be Bond, people got worried and was mixed (I was mixed also) he may not have pull it off after Casino Royale, he impressed a lot of people including me. How do you know Clive Owen may not be good as Bond. I seen a lot of his movie and I know he can pull it off as Bond (he has world-class act, and he matches Bond's height). I think he has potential and a lot of people back before Daniel Craig said Clive Owen was the perfect candidate to take over after Brosnan and before DC was selected.
  • Some fans certainly come up with some absolutely terrible ideas for who should be Bond. Please please just think - would the actor look the part in physique, and would the actor be able to act the part.

Concerning Clive Own - I think he is a decent actor, though he is a hit and miss actor. He is too old to play the part after Daniel Craig gives up. But Owen could have maybe played the part at one point - around the time he made the film Croupier perhaps. I imagine him as playing Bond rather as Lazenby did for one film - and then being dropped. However, I think actors like Idris Elba or Clive Owen would be great playing opposite Bond.

    Yeah. Scott Adkins :P
  • OK as I've been forced on to this thread, Michael Fassbender for next Bond after Daniel Craig does next 2.

If I was honest I'd say give Danny & the team another shot at perfection, then give Mike a go if Danny shot's wide again, we need a great Bond using Goldfinger as the blue-print.

This! though I could substitute Fassbender with Tom Hardy or Henry Cavill if Fassbender declined.

I,m almost tempted to say that the Bond series should end after Craig's era as it's hard to improve on perfection! Tom Hardy,Christian Bale or Tom Hiddlestone for me. Fassbender at a push.

    Ah fanboys.
  • DC will be an extremely hard act to follow. I think Fassbinder would be up to it, for Dc has established what a seriously good actor can do with the role, but EON may well go for someone less well known. Good young British actors who will be 35-40 in 2017 include;

Tom Hiddleston; Dan Stevens; Adam Rayner; Jonathan Rhys Meyer
  • in terms of peoples suggestions; we should take into account that DC has set the bar for 1. acting skills required 2) the training and physical fitness for the role -
I think certain actors being mentioned would have to seriously get into shape using 'DC's book of training regimes' if they were to be considered for the role lol I think unlike in the past, having an actor who doesn't meet these standards wouldn't/shouldn't be considered for Bond.

Again, Scott Adkins. He could kick DCs arse.

Actually, all things considered, Scott Adkins isn't a bad choice after DC.

I'll give you Tom Hardy, but Henry Cavill, have you seen Cold Light of Day, more wooden than a barn door.

Also Scott Adkins for the same reason "Expendables 2" hello!
