Which is the part for you, in any Bond film, that is very touching, and/or sentimental?

Here's my choice. Bond shows his compassion and lovely side.

For ME, kissing Wai Lin to give her air in TND... the music score helped.

    "And Saunders......thanks."

This last line before Saunders' death always gets me. Bond realizes what an asset and a friend Saunders has become, and quickly loses him just after that realization. Dalton played that scene well following the death, when he popped the balloon and pulled the gun on the mother and kid.

Tanias pleading that she knows nothing about what is going on before collapsing into tears always gets me.

    And Lisls death..

The interaction between James Bond and Moneypenny on his wedding in OHMSS, here you see the depth of their feelings toward eachother without too much dialogue.

    My pick has to be...
James Bond and M at the chapel in Skyfall. Bond's reaction to M's death really left me speechless.

Tracy Bond's death in OHMSS, Vesper's death and
James Bond & M at the chapel in Skyfall
  • Shower scene with Vesper for me. Score helps as well.
Also the whole "I have no armour left" speech
    brilliant stuff

    4. Moneypenny cries at Bond's wedding
    5. Vesper's suicide
    6. Saunders' death
    7. Bond kills Elektra
    8. Lisl's death
    9. Domino learns of her brother's death.
    10. Melina begins her revenge in Italy.

Some great examples there Kerim. I'd add Aki's death in YOLT.

That was definitely really saddening. The way she is choking and still trying to call out for Bond is pretty heart-breaking.

I agree with all of the above. I also got a little emotional
during Silva's interrogation scene in the isolation chamber when he explains the pain/torture he went thorough post-cyanide and removing the teeth. I just thought it was very played. A truly multi-dimensional villain with real motives for revenge.
  • Q's farewell in TWINE
    00 status rescinded in DAD
    'I never left' in QOS
    Tracey's death in OHMSS
    Ferraro's death in FYEO
Pam looking on at Lupe /James in LTK
'Are you calling me a horse's arse?' in TLD

Forgot that one, but yes, that is worthy of consideration.

I did say it may change next week.

  • Haven't seen Skyfall yet, as I live in North America, but the one that comes to mind immediatly is : "I love you, I know I'll never find another girl like you", splendidly delivered by George Lazenby.

    in order of the films..

    in Thunderball...
when Bond tells Domino about her brother's death, and then puts on the shades - which is presumably to hide back tears welling up in his eyes..

in On Her Majesty's Secret Service...
The whole relationship between Bond and Tracey, and how it tragically ends... and the 'hat toss' goodbye to Moneypenny by Bond..

    in Octopussy...
when Octopussy thinks Bond has down/been eaten by Alligator.... the look on her face with the music - you know she really felt something for him..

    in Licence To Kill...
the ending does indeed always get me... i know it's cheesy... but i love the fact that he could have easily stayed with Lupe had he wanted - but he runs after Pam, jumps off the balcony into the pool, swims up to her and pulls her in - they laugh, kiss *cue Patti Labelle* lol.. IMO, one of the perfect endings to a Bond movie..

    in Tomorrow Never Dies...
when Bond finds Paris dead - then his cold kill of Kaufman.. you'd be blind to not see the emotion, pain, and revenge in his eyes as he turns the gun towards Kaufman's face...

    in Casino Royale...
the first (but in film, second) tragic relationship, this time between Bond and Vesper... i think the capper is Bond trying to resuscitate Vesper.. and him giving up, kissing her - then feeling angry about her betrayal and pushing away, trying to stuff down his feelings - but can't - goes back, picks her up, and holds her... powerful stuff..

    in Quantum Of Solace...
Mathis' final moments in Bond's arms..

Yeah, Mathis' death scene was pretty touching.
  • Never did quite get the whole Mathis was a bad code name thing though?
Was I missing something bigger or was it as simple as it sounds?

it's as simple as it sounds..

Mathis wasn't his real name, just a false one..

and Bond's comment of it being a bad cover name is because it just sounds like a bad name - which is why Mathis kind of laughs (as best he could) at Bond's comment.

bond using his magnetic watch to unzip madeline smith.

    "Sheer magnetism, darling."
  • OP 'No more problems' Vijay's death. I really believe Roger's acting in this scene with Q.

    roger Moore is genius lol

on a serious note pedro armendez as kerim bay, because of circumstances off screen, i find his performance
    brilliant and touching.

one of the best characters in any bond movie.

I think most films have their own touching or strong moments:
Dr. No "...finding the man who killed Strangways and Quarrel"
FRWL Bond and Tania's scene after Kerim's death
Thunderball Breaking the news to Domino
OHMSS Bond's proposal in the barn, and Tracy's death
TMWTGG Bond being a bit ruthless with Andrea about the Lazar bullets
TSWLM The scene when Anya finds out that 007 killed her lover. One of the best scenes
    of the Roger Moore era.
FYEO "You left this with Ferrara I believe..."
OctopussyBond finally coming face to face with Orlov
and Bond warning Octopussy and the general at the circus about the bomb.
TLD Saunders death scene, 007 holding Pushkin at gun point, and the amazing scene
when Kara tells Bond she knows he's a spy and poisons him with the drink.
LTK Bond's reaction after setting Sanchez on fire
GoldenEye Bond and Natalya in the Russian prison cell and the final fight between
    Trevelyan and Bond
TWINE actually James Bond telling Renard "She's waiting for you"
CR Bond and Vesper after killing the guy at the bottom of the stairs, shower scene,
dirty martini incident and Vesper's death
QOS discovering the oily miss fields, and the final scenes in Russia when Bond
tells Corrine about her lover and the necklace
Skyfall Quite a few scenes but I won't spoil anything for those who haven't seen the
    film yet... :-)

You're kidding right? Bond getting teary just for breaking some bad news? I'm surprised this scene has made other people's list too. I always thought that Paula's death was my standout scene ('heart touching-wise' anyway)

Again, I was more saddened by Vjay's death in this film.
