I'd like something more Casino Royaleesque.

Here's the basic outline of a thought I had for the plot of Bond 24...

After a stand-alone pre-title sequence the movie begins with M announcing to Bond that MI6 is attempting to shed greater light on Quantum and its dealings as there have been several unexplained events over the past few years for which they seem increasingly responsible for. While shadowing a suspected Quantum asset Bond discovers that they are planning to carry out an act of international terrorism. After thwarting the deadly plan, Bond discovers a faint connection between the asset and a suicide clinic just outside Zurich, the head of which is none other than a one: Dr. Gunter Shatterhand.

M dispatches Bond to the Swiss Alps to pay a visit to Dr. Shatterhand's clinic under the guise of an EU health examiner to see if the connection has any grounds. During their meeting the two will tour the clinic, designed to look like an indoor garden, where they will have an interesting discussion about mortality and the will to live. In this conversation Bond will let-slip to Shatterhand several hints that he suspects a connection between the clinic and the attempted terrorist plot. Shortly after the meeting, Shatterhand, who already recognized Bond from a photo of his previous run-ins with Quantum, will order his guards to kill Bond. The resultant conflict will culminate in a car chase through the Alps, from which Bond will make a narrow escape.

From there Bond will be forced to track Shatterhand to Quantum’s base of operations and thwart an even bigger plan which they have already put into place. Bond will be captured and brought to Shatterhand where he will formally re-introduce himself to Bond as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. He will inform Bond how it was in fact he who was behind the deaths of Vesper and Mathis, and how he wished he could have taken credit for M’s death as well. Bond will end up spoiling whatever diabolical plan Blofeld has in store, and will set about taking personal revenge on Blofeld by cornering him in the aftermath. The two will engage in a vicious hand-to-hand fight to the death involving two katana’s from a samurai display in Blofeld’s personal office. During the battle, Bond will nearly kill Blofeld when he slashes his sword diagonally across his right eye, hence the iconic scar. Shortly after this however, Blofeld will manage to escape, setting up a continued hunt for him in Bond 25.
    @sirseanisbond Well that sounds epic.

Thank you @thelivingroyale. I thought so too. Anyone else have an opinion? I’m really curious to see people’s reactions to this, especially die-hard Bond fans who get all the Shatterhand references from YOLT the novel. Any feedback is welcome…
  • Didn't we use to have a thread back in the old days of Mi6 where members can post their own plots for Bond 23/Skyfall? We should make one for Bond 24! :)

I'm assuming that this is from a Fleming novel, but any self respecting villian needs a better name than Shatterhand.

I'd like Bond and the villain to dine or socialize together with an obvious undercurrent of tension, masqueraded by chivalrous pleasantries.

Yes, SF was crying out for a scene like this. Perhaps a last meal at SF, before Silva torched the place.

They haven't done this since Octopussy, no? I'd be up for it.

    The Serpents Tooth:
After a stand alone tile sequence, Bond reports to M (and Moneypenny) where he learns that a brand new british aircraft carrier, HMS Gauntlet, the largest of it's kind, has disappeared in the indian ocean on a trial run, M discloses it was carrying 50 VX-5 missiles, a nerve gas that can kill people in a 10 mile radius, M informs Bond of one lead, a letter had been sent by an anonymous organization, who call themselves the Serpent's tooth. M suggests bond starts his search in South Africa, where MI6 agent Eve Jones tells Bond that sightings of the ship were heard off the coast of Somalia and 2 small fishing trawlers also went missing soon after, when bond is heading to Station J on the outskirts of the city with cook, he is attacked by an african militant, after a motorbike chase through the city, Bond dispatches his opponent (couldn't decide how) and learns he Dimond Nambute, when he contacts Bill Tanner, he finds that Nambute was a member of The EAPL, Ethiopian Army for Peoples Liberation, him and Jones head to station J in the Grasslands of the Transvaal to equip himself for his mission, he finds Q, very upset with his posting in South Africa, gives Bond a camera which can bring up data on any required person and even has a gun in the flash, Q also gives bond a swing wire. When Bond and Jones arrives in Ethiopia he disguises himself as Pierre De Vries, a South African arms manufacturer, trying to sell equipment to the EAPL, he meets Bekele Rambani, leader of the EAPL and apparent fighter for his "peoples" freedom, in reality he is a ruthless killer who takes no prisoners and will kill any men, women or children who stand against him, Bond meets him in the battlefield and after dropping many double entendres, Rambani suggests they go hunting, in truth, he plans to have killed De Vries anyway, to get the weapons for free, he plans to abandon Bond and Jones in the grasslands and leave him to the animals, which he does succesfully, but not knowing that Bond is an MI6 agent until after he has abandoned him, Bond uses his survival skills and fights off a Lion and a pack of hyaenas, and him and Jones spend a passionate evening in an African village before they is picked up by the real Ethiopian army, and is introduced to Dabir Dahnay, a former MI6 agent who works as head of The Ethiopian Secret Service, meanwhile Rambani reports to Dzanani island, off the coast of Somalia, where recruits for his army are being trained and where the Gauntlet has been taken to, while Dahnay shows Bond the layout of Dzanani island Bond recognizes the Gauntlet and The VX-5 missiles, Bond explains to Dahnay that the VX-5 is why he is here and Dahnay agrees that Bond should infiltrate the base. when he arrives at the coast he uses the below sea sewer level to reach the lower cliffs of the island and uses the swing wire to to reach the outskirts of the base and dispatches the lookouts and light towers, he then sneaks through the complex and gets to Rambani's tent where while gathering info he hears Rambani and some european associates approach the tent, Bond hides in one of the kit bags but manages to use his camera to identify the three associates (and record the encounter) as John Willard, CEO of Willard banking group, Ron O'Brien, Admiral in the Royal Navy and Harrison Atwell, inventor of the VX-5 missile and CEO of Atwell & James Biochemical weapons manufacturer. The conversation reveals O'Brien and Atwell gave Rambani the information to hijack the gauntlet, and Willard has Funded Rambani. Rambani requests more time for his plan, to extort The UK, Japan and the US so London, Tokyo and New York were not targeted by the missiles, and to frame the British (if their demands weren't met.) as no other countries had heard of the Gauntlet's launch or the British use of the VX-5 and O'Brien's involvement would pin it on the British, starting a global war. When Rambani leaves to show his associates the Gauntlet and the VX-5, Bond makes his way to the warehouse facility, and contacts Dahnay and tells him to launch an assault on The island to provide a distraction for him destroying the weapons, Bond disarms the weapons and blows up the Warehouse, but had noticed one missile was missing, meanwhile Dahnay's men and Jones arrive at the island and start a battle with Rambani's army, allowing Bond a way to get to Rambani, as Rambani's associates are from the deck of the Gauntlet Bond confront's Rambani on the deck of the Gauntlet, Rambani flees into the bowels of the ship and Bond chases him through a hidden cave which leads to an observation tower. when Bond reaches the observation tower, he and Rambani fight to a stalemate, realising his plan is almost ruined, Rambani explains that he is only one of an association and tries to kill Bond with his Shotgun but Bond sees the controls for the Rocket and fires it straight into Rambani, impaling him and firing him into the air, realising the missile will eventually hit it's target of the south side of Tokyo, bond has to quickly disarm the rocket and regroup with Dahnay's men, where he and Jones reunite and Rambani's army is defeated, eliminating the VX-5 threat and bringing peace to Ethiopia. Dahnay gives Bond his Mangbetu Knife as a sign of respect and appreciation and bringing peace to his people and Bond dons his Navy gear to comandeer the Gauntlet back to england, while he and Jones enjoy some nice alone time. meanwhile Rambani's associates report back to their superior (unseen), who says that Rambani's failures should set an example to his subordinates, and any subordinate who fails but survives should run in fear, then a white cat runs into the room and jumps onto the superior's lap.

    Cast:
    Daniel Craig as James Bond
Idris Elba as Bekele Rambani (has to put on a bit more weight and a bigger beard.)
    Kate Beckinsale as Eve Jones

David Thewlis as Admiral Ronald O'Brien (or him)
    Ben Whishaw as Q
    Naomie Harris as Moneypenny

    Score: Thomas Newman

Not for me. I prefer the original vision for the double O's; that there were only three of them, and they did not work together in the field.

    Definitely NOT David Arnold
  • I literally have to BEST idea ever for Bond 24 and 25.

    > BOND 24: Bring back Quantum and let us meet the head of the organization, make him Blofeld. Not the old campy Blofeld, just like how Daniel is not the same as Roger's more tongue-in-cheek character. Silva was psychopathicly charmismatic, so I think Blofeld should be full-on evil, audences should hate him, i mean this guy will rape a woman and then kill her baby, that sort of evil. A real horrible bastard. for the actual plot of the film, well thats easy. The gag with every Bond villain is that they want to take over the world, its a cliche that many people have ribbed the series for over the years, well this time let the villain ACTUALLY take over the world. The end of the 2nd Act should play out like the finale; only this time instead of Bond stopping the baddie, Blofeld wins and gets world domination. But not in a obvious way, we know Quantum don't work like that, they are like a gas slowly taking control and filling the air. Therefore people don't truly know that Blofeld is running things. Set up the finale, Bond and Blofeld go head-to-head. They have a massive fight, it results with Bond taking a knife and badly scarring Blofeld's eye to the point of disfigurement. Order is restored. BUT...Blofeld escapes. Pesky bastard. So...................

    > BOND 25: Quantum is in ruins, the organization has fallen to its knees at the end of Bond 24, however Blofeld has escaped and every security agency in the world is after him. Still with the scar Bond left him with over his eye, Blofeld is on the run and is assuming other identies in order to evade capture, however he stumbles upon something interesting in his travels. I'm not quite sure what it is or what the plot should be but it should involve Blofeld looking for international immunity for his crimes, maybe a retunr to the classic holding the world to ransom, with a modern day tint. Cue Bond's hunt for Blofeld. This film should finnally show (clearly) Bond killing Blofeld, straggling the life out of the bastard literally. Bond 25 works as the end of the Quantum arc after 4 films. After this the series will be ready I guess for a new actor to step in to Bond's shoes and allowed to start afresh without any of DC's baggage.

No need to thank me EON, just send the cheque in the post. As for who should play Blofeld? I'll even do that for them as well: Michael Shannon. Easy.

I have a feeling the next Bond film may deliver more of the old formula, including OTT baddies lair with men in jumpsuits, nasty henchman, corny ending. This is what I am predicting - they will give Craig his YOLT/TSWLM movie for the next one, but done in a more gritty, grounded way. Hell, they may even re-invent Blofeld, since this is what the Craig era is all about - resurrection and rebirth.

You heard it here first folks. That is my prediction for Bond 24.

I hope John Logan will provide a tighter plot with less plot holes for number 24! fingers crossed! SF could have been the best if not for some lazy writing! I am hoping that if John comes up with the entire story it will hold together better than SF!

Well, Bond owns and drives Bentley's in the books.

Actually, I heard that out of Craig's mouth during one of his recent interviews, that he want's to do a Bond film that has a secret enemy headquarters under a volcano. :)

He's said in the past he'd love to do that as long as they can find a way to fit the big lair in. I'm sure in one of the upcoming films we will see this.
  • Not bothered where the gun barrel is first or last in movie
    Sam Mendes
    Thomas Newman
    Not set in New York
    Ralph Fiennes as M
    Naomie Harris as Moneypenny
Return of Kinkade by Albert Finney (could be interesting)
No gadgets as they get sillier everytime
No Quantum, that'll just make it a follow on from Casino and Quantum.
    No trilby
    No smoking (filthy habit)
    No space rockets
    No lasers
    No secret underground Lair
Bond Not ending up with the girl (too predictable)

don't get me wrong I love the old bond but given this new lease of life I don't think they should spoil it by doing too much of the old, same old same old. Let's move on from there!

I'd really like that but I predicted it for SF (film was great anyway though) and I didn't get it. I'd like a TSWLM style film for Bond 24 but I'm not going to get my hopes up again.

Ha ha no problem I have thick skin. But I stand by what i said all the same. Seems like you want to take Bond back to being antiquated and not up to date, bond has to evolve with the times, and thanks for the welcome.... Now, You pick the place I'll bring the guns...

For it to be in 2014 and not 2015!
  • As much as I love classic Bond tropes such as the underground lair and gadgets those had their time which was the 60's. Returning to the formula becomes parody and predictable. Those classics were great then because no one had seen anything like them before. Going forward we need to be surprised by where the series goes. To be sure the story must be connected to something happening in the zeitgeist. This is always the case. The treatment for Bond24 is being written now so I anticipate that whatever is happening in today's news is going to dictate the direction. Economic mayhem or global warming perhaps?
