Just come back from seeing it again.

I think the chase on the tube is my favourite action sequence up there with the keelhauling in FVYEO and the cargo net fight in TLD.

I really enjoyed the little details

    - the shot of Skyfall Lodge as night falls and the sound of the curlew carries across the night.

    - The female minister going beyond her brief and carpeting M. Then having to be pulled back into line by Malory.

    - Mallory catching Q and Tanner setting up a trail for Silva to follow ro Scotland.

    - The fighting Tameraire. One of my favourite paintings.

    - The music as the boat approaches Silvas island

Lots of nice touches. Well done John Logan.

Skyfall is an excellent fun movie. It felt like a true sequel to Casino Royale. Craig is still excellent as Bond. M was much better. Everything fell into place perfectly. I had High expectations from the get go and I wasn't disappointed. 10 out of 10 instant classic! :)

I'm happy. I've seen it three times.

I've seen it twice and I really liked it, it's in my top 10, just misses out on my top 5.

I think it's definetly Craigs best and I think they've refound that middle ground of serious stuff and comedy that I wanted them too. I think the PTS was the best bit of the film.

My only criticisms were the gunbarrel, Severine was underused, Patrice was a forgettable boring henchman and the gadgets were nothing really new.

4 times, another one next week. There i still lots to discover and I want to do that on the big screen.
  • I won't be seeing it again.

It's not that I didn't like it (like I said, top 10), it's just that I don't really rewatch films at the cinema. I've never seen a film at the cinema more than twice.

Each to their own. I find it impressive when I read people on here watching it numerous times. I agree though twice is enough for me at the cinema. I've seen Skyfall twice and also saw the previous three Bond films twice at the cinema. I will be getting Skyfall the day it is released on Blu-ray.

SF is the first film I've seen twice since Rocky Balboa (6) and the first Bond film I've seen twice since GE.

So it's done fairly well with me :)

I am impressed when I hear about people seeing it so many times. I can't do that myself, if I know what's coming and I'd seen it not long ago I get bored.

Saw Skyfall and must say the film was a departure from formula but a strong film in it's own right. Not once during it, did I think back to a 60's or 70's Bond. It didn't even remind me of a 90's Bond. The only time was with the DB5 but it was much subtler in how it was played in context to the film's mood.

Skyfall had a very sombre tone in the first hour and is an excellent psychological thriller.

I think it is a great James Bond story and very believable, The film was gritty and the audience were transfixed. The audience was quiet apart from a few scenes like the couple at the underground station when Bond jumps on the tube train.

This is a film that stands on it's own and I cannot with any logic compare it to a previous pre-reboot Bond film.

This is a film showing James Bond and the reality of his job as well as consequences.

I went to see it with four people and they all said they think the film was a change in direction and in a positive way too. Gritty and not treating the audience like an idiot is how they described it.

And the ending was very sad with M and I felt true emotion from Bond like in LTK.

I thought Daniel did a great job as Bond and did not make anything too obvious or predictable which some previous Bond films are guilty of.

This is a Bond film which will appeal even to people who do not like Bond based on the past films.

Saw it today! I went in with high hopes, and I definitely was not disappointed in the least little bit! A very classy Bond movie, definitely surpassed Craig's previous two, and he himself had improved in the role tremendously since CR and QoS! I highly enjoyed the gritty and dark approach that was taken, mixed with the humorous dialogue and very well-played nostalgia for us Bond fans who are celebrating the big Five-O! SkyFall does very well in living up to its anticipation! I was also extremely pleased to see that all loose ends have been patched up now, and we can get back to regular and ordinary Bond-style missions, now that we have a new M, Q, and Moneypenny in the works!

Even though Skyfall is my favorite James Bond film of all time, I wouldn't call everyone who didn't care for it "trolls"....

Regardless, Skyfall was everything and more I wanted after this 4 year wait.

I am happy to be here with like-minded folk who don't oppress the other viewpoint. I too enjoyed Skyfall, though I need to see it at least once or twice more to get the full scope of it. I have my gripes with it, but over all it truly is the greatest 50th anniversary present we all could have wished for, and it has done things that have never been attempted in films of the past. A great addition to the franchise. :-bd
  • I think Skyfall will be regarded as a classic in years to come, although like me, I already regard it as such. It is so memorable for so many different reasons. The script, acting and directing all top notch. It is a worthy entry and fitting tribute to the 50th anniversary.
  • I think it rewards multiple viewing. The details are wonderful.

This thread should be merged with all the other treads and their positive reviews. Having splitter parts of the same thread all over the place is the downside, when you can't do sticky.

I think Skyfall is the kind of film we will keep finding details for years, I'm eagerly awaiting the DVD release.

In a way I also feel the same.

This will shock some, I really did like SF on an undemanding level, especially on second viewing, it's not perfect because something can always be improved, but on the whole as popcorn entertainment I'd say good job 8.5/10.

And with all the cash it's taking world wide, all I can add is bring on Bond 24, hopefully in 2014.

I think this is ok. Other threads offer reviews, first impressions etc all of which can be negative as well as positive. Hopefully this and the anti- SF thread can counter balance each other.

Excellent! And since only 1% of our members seems to be ranking the film lowest of the Craig's, I think we have a sure winner!

I' m something of a Craig fan, always have been. I don' t dislike any of his Bond movies but SF is his most entertaining. CR was very good but the last 20 minutes felt a little tacked on. QOS had its problems but Craig was excellent. SF, for a long film never really dragged. It was fast
paced (although it wasn't over burdened with action sequences like some Bonds), exciting, funny and well acted. I wasn't keen on the overly busy credit titles but I can live with that.

I hope that doesn't make me a sheep, but if it does, then, erm baaaaaaa.

Have seen it twice, enjoyed it just as much (maybe more) the second time. Thought it was a great film, my only gripe was the underused BM (she's gorgeous and should have been given more screen time - hope the blu-ray has all her cut scenes in the bonus features). Nice to have Q and Moneypenny back (no issue with either actor) plus it was great to see an old school friend in a non-speaking roll, quite a shock the first time I noticed him. All-in-all a great Bond and can't wait for the blu-ray.

I think Sam Mendes has taken Bond in a really different direction. I actually prefer his take on it than Martin Campbell.

There was nothing tacky about SF and it was not entertaining in the mindless sense. You had to think all the way through and the film maintained it's sombre tone throughout. It did not sacrifice it's structure for the sake of a good joke.

What I liked about it is you once again see that Bond's work is filled with tragedy and how the character does not find it easy or gain easy recognition for his effort. It shows how cold his work is like when he has to leave a dying agent on M's orders knowing he will die as a result.

I felt Craig played Bond very matter of factly. It was very contextual to the plot and the overall story.

This is a film that would have been hated in 1995. This is a completely new style Bond film, and not the Bond we knew in the pre-re boot era. This threw the audience in the deep end rather than a shallow pool pretending to be deep.

SF took itself very seriously and never let go at any point to throw away what it built up. It did not lose nerve at any point or hold the audience by the hand.

Considering this is a film where M dies, you can feel her story and slow demise throughout. This is also the most politically charged Bond film especially the enquiry of M by committee. I thought that was a clever touch and added a different spice to the world of Bond.

I also notice that how people die is more realistic and you feel the loss of life. Seeing people lying in a pool of blood is so well shown. And contrary to what I have heard, the villain is not set up to be likeable. I did not see any similarity between him and the Joker like some do. Why would Xavier Bardem copy Heath Ledger when he did not pay attention to what other Bond villains did to not influence his performance?

This is why the payoff is so good at the end. Are you really going to like the man responsible for M's death and humiliation? The man who almost destroyed Bond's career through his actions?
