I'm OK with her being in a Bond film as long as she gets killed and is limited to no more than 10 seconds of screen time.
When you boil it down to pure talent, then she simply is a very good song writer. Like Prince and others before her you have to get beyond the image. A Bond film? Maybe, I certainly understand where @Sir_Hilary_Bray is coming from. She would reflect where we are in 2011/12 as other stars have done in the past.
As for Bond, if they let her sing the title theme, I can understand it. If they hire her for anything else, including fetching Daniel Craig his donuts, they are mad.
Probably not B23, because of the 50th anniversary, but if in 3 years both of these artists are still 'big names', I would not rule out either one of them making a theme song.
I've never understood people hating a type of music or a particular artist. I can understand someone saying "That music isn't to my tastes" but actual hate? Really? With all the bad people in the world (dictators slaughtering civilians, pedophiles, Wall Street investors wiping out the retirement savings of eldery people while giving themselves multi-million dollar bonuses) someone singing a song engenders hate?
As for Lady Gaga as I said in a previous post she certainly has the singing chops when you hear her acoustic performances. I wouldn't mind her having a title song. Nothing she has said has indicated that she would want to act in anything like a Bond film, even if only a minor part and I don't think that type of stunt-casting fits in with the way Bonds films are done in the "Craig era" (if only two films are anything to go by).
@Luds...... Lady Gaga's talent lies in the fact that she has none lol... her voice is pretty average - but due to the magic of mixing, and autotune, she can sound halfway listenable.....
basically what it boils down to - is that I don't want another title theme like "Die Another Day".. i don't need a theme to appease all the little trashy club dancers.. that is what angered me about Madonna's theme..... because around that time, I had just hear her song "Frozen" (which i love) - so i thought holy crap, she's doing a Bond theme? it's going to be epic!...... sadly, it was an epic FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!
So, the likelihood they'd go for Lady Gaga for the title song maybe isn't great (she probably wouldn't want to do it anyway - it's not where she sees her career and image right now, I'd wager, and she hardly needs it) - and it's even less likely they'd offer her a role. If they did it'd be a tiny Branson-like cameo that'd make little dent if at all in the flick, I'd imagine...
