what would Bond do if he came out of service?

If Bond had to leave Mi6 for any reason and had to get a regular job what would it be. Many people come out of the force's and find it hard to adjust to normal life and struggle to find a regular job. If a real man had Bonds job and had to leave the force having killed so many and not really known anything else what would you do? how would he cope and if he did what job would he be good at? I think that the only job bond would be good for would be demolition or using his language skills in some way. Any thoughts?

He'd probably leave for Jamaica, buy himself a nice little pile and write some heavily fictionalised novels about his own experiences. You never know, they might just catch on. ;)

Hmm I think he would be ornithologist. :D :D :D
  • Retire to the Bahamas and pass the time by playing cards at gentlemen's clubs, swimming daily in the ocean, doing some bird watching at his island retreat, and maybe take up writhing a novel or two.

It depends which actor we're talking about:

    Connery - golf pro
    Laz - Porn star
    Rog - reconteur
    Dalts - sad recluse
    Brozza - night club crooner
    Craig - hit man
  • Craig's Bond has said he 'has no idea what an honest job is', so he'd need a sugar mamma :P

Bond in general I could picture owning a gentleman's pub in either England or Scotland, assuming he had to remain tight lipped about his previous secret business (meaning, no biography's or stories of his adventures)
He'd have a nice quiet life and would never be further than arms reach of a drink!

I can't imagine Bond settling in the UK. He'd hate it.

Get a job in field sales, selling bed linen to housewives.

He would go somewhere remote and just blend into the background! B-)

Nobody has said it yet? REALLY?

    He'd be enjoying death.

    Awesome. Just awesome.
  • Clearly with his background he'd probably be working as a professional bodyguard for VIP's.

Depending on which incarnation your inclined to think about, in classic sense I'd say he'd be a restaurant critic for Michelin.

  • Professional gambler.

Wouldnt he just be a professional gigolo?
Wooing rich divorcees in the riviera, eating and drinking in fine restaurants and gambling their money in Monte Carlo. Basically what he does anyway just without the danger and killing.

Not sure what they'd do later but:

Sean's Bond would probably end up moaning about his severance package.

Lazenby would have been persuaded to quit by an enemy agent.

    Roger would write his memoirs.

Dalts would quit after not seeing action for years.

Brosnan would find out he's been fired via a phone call from M.

Craig would become a close protection officer for Her Magesty.

He'll open the door to his flat, toss his coat on the couch, shut the door, walk into his bedroom and strip down to his boxers and a simple white shirt, go back out into the kitchen, grab a beer, walk over to his easy chair, grab the remote, turn on the TV and watch the news.

That would come later. This is just his first five minutes without a break.

I get it, then "Wai-Lin, a Jackie Chan film is on, dear!"
10 minutes later, the shagging. :-\"

I don't think Bond would watch the news if he wasn't in it anymore.

I've always had the feeling that he wouldn't watch anything other than the news. Seriously, I have doubts that he watches sitcoms or dramas.

Thinking about it, I don't think he'd watch tv. I don't think he'd stay in London, maybe even leave England. Scotland, perhaps ;)

I have a hunch that Roger's Bond would look up and hook up with Octopussy. They are "two of a kind"...you know?

That's what I'd think too, except he likes them better married. Jealous husbands, humiliated chefs, outraged tailors, pretty much what Lee describes in TMWTGG is what his normal life would entail. And beating anyone who got a little courage half to death ;)

  • He would semi retire but do the odd job for hire to help fund his continued womaniser, alcoholic and gambling ways.
  • I always thought if Bond were forced out of the service, he'd follow Felix's lead and become a Private Eye.

Connery's Bond: (Go back to Skyfall lodge and hunt.)
Lazenby's Bond: (Become a professional boxer.)
Moore's Bond: (Hook up with Octopussy.)
Dalton's Bond: (Become a private detective and vigilante)
Brosnan's Bond: (Hook up with Natalya after dumping Jinx and stealing the diamonds.)

(I'm excluding Craigs bond because his tenure isn't up yet.)
  • Fleming's Bond in YOLT seems to have an odd fixation with buying a chicken farm post-retirement.
