@SirHenryLeeChaChing, thank you very much. I appreciate that. I, too, like to think I'm doing something right to warrant some great gifts.

My HTC Aria has been getting worse on me and I finally dropped and cracked the screen into tiny little pieces, so my parents got an iPhone 4S for me for Christmas. Great phone, and that's all I really wanted.
  • I got the 50th Anniversary James Bond postcards for Christmas.

I finished my last bits of Christmas shopping today.

I got my brother the Misfits boxset, I got my mate a litre bottle of Smirnoff, I got my nephew the latest Call Of Duty game and I got my fiance this necklace she wanted. I've already spent lots this month so I'm dreading my next credit card bill.

@Creasy47 Wow you have a great girlfriend. Is the 4S the one with the voice control? I've lost track of all the apple stuff to be honest. I have an Iphone but it's a 3G one.

Kerim Bey- Is that all you want?
    Bond- Well....

@thelivingroyale, that it is. Wonderful little phone, seems to do everything that I've always needed a phone to do, plus more.

@SirHenryLeeChaChing, haha, I honestly only asked for that. I usually hate asking my parents for stuff for Christmas, but my mom offered and didn't really mind purchasing it for me.
  • Even being away from relatives and friends, we wait until Xmas day to open our presents - we don't open them early if we see each other beforehand. So no prezzies from anyone else yet.

Like JackDagger, my only early present has been from myself to myself. My girlfriend *didn't* get me a blue sweater that I wanted so I picked it up yesterday (already 40% off, and then an additional 40% off of that - why wait for Boxing Day?). Then I saw (on another site) that it was a close match to the sweater Craig wears under his Barbour. I had thought it was a very bright turquoise blue, but in real life it's much more subdued. So that was a bit of serendipity!

My best friend and I met up today and exchanged gifts. I got him a John Wayne biography (he loves westerns, the Duke being a favorite), and he got me The Dark Knight Trilogy on Blu-ray! Believe me, I just got done placing my jaw back in its correct position. I didn't expect him to shell out for something like that, so I will look on to his June birthday to really treat him and return the favor. It was a grand old time we had. He and his parents are film buffs too, and we talked about movies for a good forty minutes, then my friend and I watched "Hammett", a nice little film. Overall, a great time, and it was wonderful to see my best mate again in the best season of the year.

Well, it's been a James Bond Christmas. Along with all the usual presents I got a Sideshow Collectable Sean Connery (Dr No, Tuxedo), a Sideshow Collectable Roger Moore (TMWTGG, White Suit) and a small book on Aston Martin.

    Lastly, I got....

    THE JAMES BOND ARCHIVES

It's immense. Hugely large, impressively heavy and beautifully printed. It's going to take me ages to get through it.

It does have a rather curious picture of Daniel Craig's Casino Royale screen test.

Very nice to hear you've had a wonderful Christmas, Brady. Nothing better than spending time with family and good friends.

It has been a hell of a Christmas, and I hope you are all enjoying time with friends and family.

I got Sleeping Dogs and Hitman: Absolution for PS3 and a Playstation Store card, "Tough Without a Gun: The Life and Extraordinary Afterlife of Humphrey Bogart" (a biography), The African Queen (a Bogart film), a Michael Bublé archive that goes behind the scenes of his life and performances, and a laptop cooling pad.

And I hope you are having a lovely Christmas too, @Creasy47!

You made out pretty well with the presents, then!

I have. I spent time with my parents and dog this morning, and beat 'Far Cry 3' a few minutes ago. Wonderful game. Wrapping up random achievements on 'Black Ops II' now, and then I plan on watching DN.

My copy of Hitman: Absolution was bought at Wal-Mart, so that means I get the High Roller suit as part of the deal! Naturally, as a Bond fan, I am excited as all hell!

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, unfortunately, it can only be used in Contracts mode. I was pulling my hair out trying to find the best place to reserve it for which pre-order deal I enjoyed the most, only to find out that the weapons/suits can't even be used in the single player.

I hope the 'Hitman HD Collection' next month will wash the bad taste out of my mouth from 'Absolution.' Truly a disappointment, though I hope you manage to enjoy it!
  • I got Far Cry 3, Ted on DVD, some clothes and socks, a fondue pot, a new watch, a small leather travel bag with cologne and aftershave, some scratch tickets, gloves, chocolates and ... the 007 Fragrance!

I thought that was how it would be, but I don't much care. More reason to go back and replay the levels to improve my score. I have been playing Sleeping Dogs anyway, and haven't put in Hitman just yet. If anyone wants to get Sleeping Dogs but is hesitating, DON'T ANY LONGER! The game is fantastic. The story and characters are interesting, the plot smart and satisfying, all surrounded by the beautiful Hong Kong. The graphics are gorgeous, especially the character models and landscapes. The action is insane. You wouldn't believe the kind of things you can do. Jump off a bike as it hurls into enemies. Move from a bike or car onto another car to jack it stuntman style. Experience high octane parkour in chases or as a way to get around the city at any time. And the combat, oh the combat. The combos are amazing, the takedowns brutal, and everything is so fluid and thrilling to dish out. This is the single greatest combat I have seen in an open world sandbox style game of this scope (not counting Batman with that crowd). United Front Games took notes from the best of the best in gaming combat mechanics, and boy does it show. The little things in the game also make me immensely happy. You can take increasing damage from the bullets or beatings you take, and your clothes and body will be bloodied from that damage. Also, if you are in a messy fight, sometimes the enemies' blood will splatter on you, leaving you in a bloody mess (pun intended) even if you didn't take a single hit, which is awesome. The cool thing is that when you go back to your apartment you can wash your face in the sink and the blood goes off. Little things like that are cool, and show how close to reality the game tries to be amid the jaw dropping action. You truly feel like an undercover cop under pressure, and that the risks you are taking are worth it. You can take out various gangs hanging out at drug dealing locations, and then hack the cameras near the spot so that you can return to your flat and survey the deals. Once you spot the supplier, you can call on the cops to take action, cleaning up the streets just a little bit more each time. You can even make friends with girls and take them out to do a bunch of fun stuff. With all this content, and some I haven't even gotten to yet, I must say that I am deeply impressed. This game makes GTA 4's minigames and post campaign additions look like child's play. It is a spectacular salute to Hong Kong style cinema and intense action, with a great protagonist you really care about. I highly, highly, highly recommend this game. Even as I turned it off a while ago, all I want to do is play it some more!

Let's see. I got something useful, something decorative, something instructive, something funny, and something Bond-related.

The useful was a new feather-bed. I really needed one.

The decorative was a painting about Paris (kinda pop art, complete with a red 2 CV). To think I had to go to Britanny to get that whan I live near Paris...

The instructive was a book about the slang and the expressions used at the Arsenal of Brest. Instructive, and funny as well.

The funny is the Benny Hill show DVD set. I prefer the Monty Python, but there's something to be said for low-brow humour. And there's the Hill's Angels, who are reason enough to watch the set.

The Bond-realted stuff was Daniel Craig's version of Millennium: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Haven't read the book, nor seen the two (or three, counting the TV series) versions of it, so I don't know yet what I should think of it.

Anyway, if I appreciated the gifts, I could have done without the family quareel that followed. An experience I wish to forget, and that's all I'm going to say about it.

So I received the The James Bond Archives - I'll be more than a while getting through that(!) but The James Bond Omnibus Volume 4 was out of stock. I did get the money to go towards it though so I'll be ordering it soon.

I also got some chocolate, something I didn't need with the amount I've eaten over the last two days as it is!

Since we are now officially in the month of December and Christmas countdown clocks all over the world have begun ticking down, I thought I'd bump this thread again. You can share all the things you hope to get this year, what you plan to get others in your life, or what Christmas related traditions you have leading up to the day.
  • QBranchQBranch Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

I might be getting a good digital camera for Christmas. If not, then the money towards one. Then I can finally upload some decent photos of my Bond collection and props I'm working on. As for getting gifts for others- I have no idea. Once again, I've left it to the last minute instead of gathering ideas months in advance... 8-|

I picked up 'Magic Mike' for my Mom and 'Dark Skies' for my Dad - waiting to see what else they're interested in - and I bought an infinity ring and an LP for my girlfriend. As for myself, I splurged on some Black Friday deals, haven't found a Christmas gift to get for myself.

@TheWizardOfIce, you mean 'grammer,' right? ;-)
