The more she says the more certain I am she'll have a part in the film. Tell me I'm not the only one?

I think you could be right Sam. She's publicly saying more in the press, chances are that she'll have a role. But how big of a role remains to be seen. Just because she's female doesn't mean it's the lead Bond girl role. Though it wouldn't bother me. So long as she's not an agent, traitor, former lover or out for revenge character, then she'll be fine...hopefully. X_X

Oh my goodness Benny !! What on earth are you doing ?? Giving ideas to EON about more traitors ?? Good god, I've seen enough of those during the last 4 films !!

Those are type of characters we've seen enough of, for now. With this film, it's the perfect chance to do something different.

Are official casting announcements likely to come in November, just before filming begins or could they possibly arrive before then and if so how soon?

Afterall, official pre-production work gets underway next month, so if Harris and/or others are needed for training, why not announce the cast then?...

Appereantly Harris said: "It would be great to be part of Bond but nothing is confirmed yet. Sam Mendes is an amazing director and a really, really lovely man as well. He's got brilliant ideas. From meeting them, I think it's going to be a very special Bond."

I hope by 'very special' she mean a return to a more traditional TB-esque film...

I don't think so, not with Mendes directing.

Again, the more Harris seems to know the more I think she'll get - or has already got - a part.

And if Bond 23 is "very special" then great, how it's special doesn't really bother me as long as it's remembered.

Site-note: In MI6's recent main Bond 23 articles, they've stated official pre-production begins in mid-July. What is the source for this? Or did they gain this information from their moles?

Pre-production would officially begin in August anyway, three months before filming begins, for stunt training, driving, mainly for Craig, so I was just wondering why the slightly earlier start.

Likely a case or having the extra time and using it, I guess?

Grace Jones was a disaster. So, what can we expect from Naomi Harris?

She liked Grace Jones' acting? Oh my, why did she have to pick one of the worst examples of female roles in Bond history? Does she want to act like Grace Jones?

Female roles? Must've been another AVTAK then the one I saw... ;-)

Anyway, I bet Harris is just talking up to the producers with her comments. As far as people have shown here she's only had an audition. Which, in the Bond universe, says just about squad all.

Oh, and Halle Barry was rubbish, and that's a fact! ;-)

    see?

I told y'all from the get go that she is not going to be right for any Bond Girl role (and I've seen her movies) but nooooo..... no one listens to me and some of y'all even went as far to call me a racist.

She has no talent - it has nothing to do with race.

If she is going to base her portrayal of a Bond girl on Halle and Grace's performance, her Bond 23 girl will be partly AVTAK mixed with DAD!!

If EON is casting Naomie because they want to have a African or African American or Dark Skinned actress for a change, that's ABSOLUTELY FINE BY ME!

But there are much better actresses than Naomie!!

Before any of y'all say anything - nope, Zoe Saldana is not on the list I have!!

She is too expensive now for EON!

@j7wild, citing Grace Jones doesn't mean Harris' character will be anything like her. As @CommanderRoss said, she's likely just wanting to get in MW & BB's good books.

Aye! And to be quite honest, I for one would like to see her in the next Bond.
(I found her quite attractive in pirates. Even with the black teeth she had in the movie. And if I remember correctly, she was quite stunning in 'After The Sunset' starring alongside the Brozzenator)
She's not the worst person to take on the role in the next flick.
  • Come on JC - what have other Bond girls done in the past - at least she won an Oscar for something and she has great breasts. So it's a win win for me. I agree Jinx was an awful character but please leave poor HB alone; she didn't write the script.

As an african american woman and actor, I presume roles are limited for her from the WASPs and god's people who run Hollywood don't you think?

You are probably right. She's been talking about it a lot. Sounds like the job's hers.

    From the Daily Mail:

    Naomie's licence to thrill

Miss Moneypenny, 007’s tart-tongued, flirtatious foil, is returning to the James Bond movies in the shape of Naomie Harris.

The actress met with Sam Mendes, director of Bond 23, earlier this year and is now in the final stages of negotiations to play the long-running Bond girl — although, strictly speaking, Moneypenny isn’t a Bond girl at all; she’s the assistant to Bond’s boss, M.

Naomie made her name in Danny Boyle’s film 28 Days Later. Many will also know her from the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, but I think she did her best work in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, The First Grader (an enjoyable low-budget recent release) and Danny Boyle’s National Theatre production of Frankenstein, in which she played the leading lady opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

The actress is poised to appear alongside Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Judi Dench when filming begins later this year.

The Moneypenny character, who holds the rank of Lieutenant RN, hasn’t been seen in a Bond picture since Samantha Bond played her in Die Another Day back in 2002, when she appeared with Pierce Brosnan.

Samantha appeared in four 007 thrillers, starting with GoldenEye. It’s widely thought she threw the best retort ever at James Bond. Having bedded his Scandinavian tutor, he tells Moneypenny: ‘I always enjoyed learning a new tongue.’ Moneypenny responds dryly: ‘You always were a cunning linguist, James.’

It’s too early to know whether Mendes will want Naomie to play Moneypenny in the same drier-than-a-shaken-martini vein, but she’s an astute actress who will be able to deliver her character any way he desires.

Lois Maxwell was the original (and still the most famous) Moneypenny, appearing in the first Bond picture Dr No in 1962. She retired following A View To A Kill in 1985.

Caroline Bliss played the part in The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill before making way for Ms Bond.

Barbara Bouchet played her in the 1967 Casino Royale, and Pamela Salem had a go in 1983’s Never Say Never Again.

Both of those movies were made outside of the Eon organisation, which controls the screen rights to Bond creator Ian Fleming’s works.

A spokeswoman for Eon said that Naomie had met with producers but stressed it had not been confirmed she would be in the film.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2012464/BAZ-BAMIGBOYE-Naomies-licence-thrill.html

So, is this true, or just plucked out of thin air?...

oh and Harris for Moneypeny I approve.

'A spokeswoman for Eon said that Naomie had met with producers but stressed it had not been confirmed she would be in the film.'
I think this is probably closer to the 'truth' at this point.
She needs to speak less I feel...never before have I read about an actress as much pre-Bond filming as this in recent years.

I'm curious. Which scenes are you talking about, friend?
Did you not read my post? Halle Berry made certain scenes in DIE ANOTHER DAY better than they otherise would have been by not being in them. Like the briefing scene between Bond and M in the abandoned Underground station. It would have been considerably worse with Jinx in that scene.
I'm sure Dimi simply misread it based on your opening sentance 'Halle Berry wasn't that bad'. I misread it as well and misunderstood your meaning. ;-)
Yes, I misread it. But now I understand what Shadow meant. Sorry for the confusion there, pal.

  • they're going down - just being re-branded to the Sunday Sun - which was officially registered Tuesday gone.

It makes me laugh how he's got out of it again - sneaky aussie kutha.

Then again he did loose over £400 million on myspace when he sold it a few weeks ago.

even if it means Bond and Moneypenny sleeping together you know to be risky?

MP: Oh James! I hope it was as good for you as it was for me.
JB: It was worth every penny, darling.
MP: Am I a woman who needs payment for love, James?
JB: All it takes for you to get that pussy shaven, not furred, darling.
