    It would be nice if they made another trailer that features less action. I don't think I've seen a trailer that contains so much action!

    You don't think it'll be near as good as the originals then? The action looks good but too much of it will ruin the film. The first of these prequels had too much action too.

    saw a nine minute trailer i think on youtube with lots visually stunning scenes,only saw it once,taken down by youtube. on who cumberbatch might be every though his brother? or a section 31 agent genetically modified.

    It seems where 'Star Trek' (2009) was already dark with the destruction of Vulcan, 'Star Trek Into Darkness' goes a big step further. Just like the title gives away.

    Having seen the trailer I'd say J.J. Abrahms is looking more to that other darker Star Trek series: 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'. It's my favourite series, full of great storylines and one big storyline that encompasses all seasons. DS9 was a very political TV series, mirroring a lot to the (pre-)1990's political environment. It was also a lot darker, dealing with things like big wars, ethics, terrorism, holocaust and espionage inside Starfleet (Section 31).

    'Star Trek Into Darkness' sounds very much like the DS9-premise. But off course J.J. Abrahms also looked to the revived Batman- and Bond-franchise ('The Dark Knight', 'Casino Royale', 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'Skyfall').

    No, I am completely in for this new Star Trek adventure. It seems Lindeloff and Abrahms not simply created a new Star Trek timeline (destruction of Vulcan and the post-Vulcan-destruction after effects -- Mirrors the post-9/11 world we live in) to have fun, but also to stay loyal from now on to this new timeline.

    Is Kirk's brother Sam in this one? That was a flaw I couldn't quite get past from the first one (but was apparently a deleted scene). That and the fact that he was promoted from cadet to Captain. That was really stupid.

    Well, even the original cast movies were not as good as the original series, how could anyone hope this next JJTrek will be anything but mainly more action and destruction. But it will look great.

    As SFdebris stated in his review for ST 2009, The ending should have been a Montage of Kirk making his way up the ranks up becoming Captain.

    in the original series kirk serves aboard the uss farragut were his captain is killed by a alien creature he then takes command, similar to his father in the last movie.
    the trailer at the end it is cumberbatch who mentions family but that could be a scene set in england about a grieving father (Noel Clarke).
    I still think kirks brother George with section 31 and possibly a person called Soong
    his brother was cut out of the movie, and renamed johnny his friend.

    Big rumors are swirling now that Peter Weller's character in Star Trek Into Darkness is going to be Captain Robert April. Reason for this is April has been revealed in the 1st Comic that just came out that is a prologue to the actual movie.


    In 'The Animated Series' April was the first captain of the Enterprise but that show wasn't considered cannon.

    For those wondering who Robert April was, April oversaw the construction of components for a Constitution-class starship at the San Francisco Naval Yards. That vessel eventually became the USS Enterprise. April later commanded the Enterprise from 2245 to 2250; his wife Sarah served as his chief medical officer.

    Never too late to insert this into another special edition of the movie. Prefer this theme to the one used in voyage home.

    That's compared 'to' the original series, not 'for'.
    I als find Michael Giacchino's Star trek 2009 music superb too.

    I enjoy the themes for TOS and TMP/TNG, but I love TOS the best.

    Cumberbatch said his character had been a member of Starfleet. If he was then wouldn't his superhuman abilities have been detected by Starfleet medical during physicals?. Weller said his character was a CEO and had his own ship. It's possible that April did oversee the construction of the new Enterprise (we never saw it in the last movie) but in this new timeline Pike was given command over him. It's possible that April is outraged at Starfleet for this and wants to seek revenge by taking out the fleet and Pike (we do see a funeral flyover in the trailer). And he uses Cumberbatch's John Harrison to enact those orders. And yes, I believe April on a prior Enterprise found the Botany Bay and delivered the pods secretly to Section 31 for storage.

    He'll probably be an adviser or Producer. After all before Into Darkness, it wasn't sure whether or not Abrams would come back as Director.

    Get Spielberg to direct the 3rd film. Or Nolan. Better yet, Ridley Scott would be great in my book.

    Okay. Good choice IMO. His 09 Trek was more like SW anyway.

    Why does everyone hate the Abrams Trek Movie? It's an improvement over the last two that came before it.
