Welcome to the forums, @alphabetagaga!
'on a trail which was closed to the public for the day.' is what i am looking for
I doubt that location would be on Street view.
It is Google Earth at 56*37'07.23''N 4*55'53.53''W
This 'track' leads South from the A82 and is signposted 'Glen Etive'. I drove down this track last summer looking for the location. I ended up at the building on the linked page above.

That lodge is 'Dalness' which I believe is the Fleming home Michael G Wilson mnetions in the commentary. It looks very similar to 'Skyfall' and is possibly it's inspiration. Before seeing the film I had assumed that the DB5 was parked in view of that. Sadly I was wrong but ended up with a similar shot to the one in the movie and promotion shot.
Incidently in the finished movie the DB5 starts on the track quite a way down then in the aerial shot from behind is back on the A82 and then back on the track but near the turn off from the A82!
56*37'07.23''N 4*55'53.53''W
but are the above coordinates 100% correct? google maps does not like it and copy and pasting the above directly into google earth and that does not like it either
That's probably because there should be a degrees symbol after the 56 and the 4. It's definitely the right place.
I prefer to drive a Vauxhall Combo Van myself, of course.
excellent posts thank you.
Glencoe is amazing though. The drive down the A82 and the Glen Etive road affords surely some of the most breath-taking scenery on these Islands.
The location scouts certainly did their homework for Skyfall.
The exhibition was well presented, but nothing amazing. No movie props or owt, but it was free, and there was plenty of info on the filming. It was a fun presentation.
Here's a screencap of the DB5. You can see it's the same place as the one where my van is in my previous post. I tried to take a picture of me standing with my back to the camera all cool like Craig. But it just looked liked I'd stopped the van to have a piss.
"Is this where you grew up?"
And there's the tree in one of my photos.
The scene immediately after the words "storm's coming" is the bit of road after you turn on the Glen Etive road off the A82.
Writing this makes me want to go back. It's a lovely place, and hunting out the Bond filming sites it an excellent reason for visiting some stunning scenery.
Glad you like my snaps.
Fantastic pictures! So cool to see and read, thanks for posting and sharing!
The combo line just killed me! =))
