For that reason the most accurate worldwide gross figure of 'Skyfall' stands at $1,115,149,934. $304,295,238 of which (27.3%) originates from the USA, where 'Skyfall' is still playing in approximately 100 theatres during weekends. In the weekend of Feb 22nd–24th it grossed $143,543 from 184 theatres and last weekend (March 1st-3rd) it grossed $73,529 from 101 theatres. Outside the USA 'Skyfall' has now passed the fantastic figure of $810,854,696, China's $61 Million included (Source: BoxOfficeMojo.com, Entgroup.cn & BoxOffice.com)
Also in the 'Spy/Action Movies-list', an update of 'Bullet To The Head' (with Sly Stallone), the 5th John McClane film, 'A Good Day To Die Hard' (with Bruce Willis), 'Parker' (with Jason Statham), 'The Last Stand' (with Arnold Schwarzenegger) and 'Side Effects' (directed by Soderbergh).
Note for the reader: Take in mind that for, more or less, accurate comparisons, most of the below action/spy movies are produced in 1987 or later. Actually, most of them were produced after the 1990's. All movies in this list are 2D movies!
Furthermore, I have updated the list in such a way now, so that you can also use it as a 'watchlist'. Movies with a '▪' are part of a spy/actionhero movie franchise. Movies with a '▫' are rebooted movies or remakes. Movies with a '∞' are based on previous tv-series.

On the 'All Time Box Office'-list from BoxOfficeMojo.com 'Skyfall' still stands at the 007th place. But the 23rd Bond film is still closing in on the 5th and 6th movie on this list: 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' (2011) and 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' (2011). We really need to be patient now and look how 'Skyfall' is standing after April.
In the meanwhile, 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' came the 15th movie ('Skyfall' was the 14th) crossing the 1 Billion Dollar milestone, but it will not catch up either 'Skyfall' or the 3rd 'Lord Of The Rings' movie.
The standings of the 'All Time Box Office'-list are now:
01) $2,782.3 -- 'Avatar' (2009)
02) $2,185.4 -- 'Titanic' (1998) *2D*
03) $1,511.8 -- 'Marvel's The Avengers' (2012)
04) $1,328.1 -- 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2' (2011)

10) $1,063.2 -- 'Toy Story ' (2010)
15) $1,001.4 -- 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' (2012)
No, but BoxOffice.com keeps updating more thoroughly. In the long run, the figures of BoxOffice.com seem to be a bit more conservative then those from BoxOfficeMojo.com. Moreover, BoxOffice.com is updating their foreign figures more frequently, whereas their US figures are in most cases the same as those of BoxOfficeMojo.com.
I also updated all other spy-/action movies from my list, and where BoxOfficeMojo.com hasn't been updating for instance 'Red Dawn' (2012) and 'The Last Stand' (2013), BoxOffice.com keeps updating these more thoroughly.
So @JWESTBROOK, would you be so kind to please update the figure for us :-P.
But........I can recall 'TDKR' already came out on DVD/BR back in October in Holland :-S.
Actually, looking into it now.. I'd like to wait. None of the major sites have updated from the total we currently have, so I have no way of knowing where Skyfall is without guessing.
And we all know if I put a guestimated figure up there are certain members who wouldn't appreciate it. Patience is key, for now the title is accurate.
You may contact a moderator to change it if you'd like.. but again I see no point until we have a solid figure to tally.
It's not guestimated. Here's a link: http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/movies/bond-23-2012?q=skyfall
Yes, but that is the only one with that figure, so why haven't the other sources updated as well?
That's a difficult question to ask really. It sounds a bit silly, but most likely because BoxOfficeMojo isn't tracking it properly anymore. Especially since the last two weeks. They still do the domestic updates, but the foreign ones not really.
BoxOffice.com from my experience are slightly more accurate and also conservative with their final updates at the end of every weekend. Perhaps I can write them? I'm curious myself...
On the other hand, IMDB is considered to be a bunch of nonsense.
And yet, since 2011, BoxOfficeMojo.com = IMDB :) (= Amazon, who bought the former through the latter). The founders of BOM have since left the building with nice $$$, and those who stayed simply live every day with the missed opportunity syndrom, hence probably some lack of motivation, many errors here and there (look at the breakdown of SF box office for UK or Nederlands for instance, the cumulative is going up and down - and if it's change variation, then they didn't do it for other countries with the same currency).
Now there's IMO a lack of respect for them on other box office forums (BOM is considered NOW to be very unreliable on French box office forums for instance). They also closed the forums, etc..
Thanks @Suivez_ce_parachute. Thanks to you I'm taking sites like EntGroup.cn and BoxOffice.com (not to be confused with BoxOfficeMojo.com) better into account. I think you're right.......BoxOfficeMojo isn't that accurate at the moment to look for foreign figures...
Until Nov 2012, BOM reported it was $427M :
You can check that with a news on their site :
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3563
"[SF] will pass Casino Royale's franchise-record $427 million by early next week at the latest"
And now you can check at the BOM CR page that it's $432M (and this NOT inflation effect, as BOM never attempt to do inflation correction on worldwide stuff, as the AFP and some did here too hastily :) ).
So... $5M more "out of the blue" once again (I'm not aware of CR being re-released anywhere with results like that... No CR 3D in China I mean !).
Note that boxoffice.com still sticks to the $427M figure, while the-numbers.com gives a $429M figure.
IMO, as none of these sites are primary sources anyway, what it may mean is that :
- the studio recently updated to $432M and BOM uses that number
- Rentrak gave $427M and boxoffice.com uses that number
- the-numbers did an average between Rentrak (the only available "independent" estimation, probably) estimation and the studio's numbers (and there's quite a past history of fundging numbers for PR reasons)
And remember, all this without looking at the fact the US$ is, by definition, a currency that is NOT representative at all of what is spent in the foreign box office :)
Alas, as there's no "global office" to care for that, we're left in the unknown actually. Or you can chase country by country the state office result. But even then, some (like France) will give you attendees number, not Euro results, and even less bother to convert in a currency not used in their world zone at all...
You can also chase country by country even more specific sites... But you'll end up basically doing what BOM was doing during their "serious" period when the founders were there :)
For your country for instance, the figure of 18.8M Euro for Skyfall is "hidden" here :
http://www.filmdistributeurs.nl/files/1306top20weekend.pdf
and you'll probably have to wait for a round-up in a few months for an even more reliable one.
And if you read German a bit,
http://www.insidekino.de/BO.htm
is also a very interesting source for mostly European countries. It's a bit the opposite of BOM now : zero work on the layout, it looks like Compuserve 1994, but data always availabe at its most original format I think (ie : no $ conversion at a semi-random rate in particular)
http://www.boxofficemojo.com: "The Hobbit is the fourth movie from 2012 to pass $1 billion following The Avengers ($1.51 billion), Skyfall ($1.11 billion) and The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08 billion). That's the most billion-dollar movies ever in one year; while it's too early to say for certain, it seems unlikely that 2013 will match this level."
I think you can update now....;-)?
It is, it absolutely is. It....it's March now and I'm still in this 'Skyfall Bubble' :-S
True, but personally, for me as a Bond fan -my first in cinema was LTK in 1989, my first on TV was YOLT- 'Skyfall' so far is my best Bond experience ever. And with $1.115 Billion in the banks and Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTA's as beautiful icings on the cake.....I'm a bit afraid Bond 24 will not live up to that...
I can only hope that the next 007 outing is better.
Allthough I always said Bond 24 would be on course towards $900 Million worldwide, even an amount of $1.115 Billion wasn't predicted by me. And indeed, beating 'The Hobbit'.........all we Bond fans need to show now is some humility.
Wow, where was the last showing at? That's amazing.
