Just curious: what constitutes getting interviewed? Or will everyone get a turn eventually?

I'm very happy for the kind words and to have been selected, everyone. I'm really looking forward to getting this started and learning so much more about you all.
  • Can I get a turn, too?

Anyone who wishes to be interviewed simply lets me know, either via PM or in this thread. I will then add their name to the list in the opening post.
As we have a large membership, and thankfully many willing members to take part it will be a long process to get through all of you. Each interview usually takes about two weeks to complete. This being the case, those of you on the list will have to be patient.
Towards the end of each interview I PM the current interviewee and ask who they would like to nominate to be interviewed next. Then at the end of the interview, the next member is revealed.
These are not quick to do, and cannot be rushed, with a little patience they usually run smoothly, but with time we will get through all of you.

Maybe employ a few common questions as core requisites, then, to ensure a sense of individual vitality, proceed at will in whatever direction one wishes?

I am happy with you setting this up exactly like the old one, Benny. Especially as folks seemed happy with that. There is a tried and true formula already apparently, and that's a good thing.

Ah, this brings back memories. I think I got interviewed in like '07 or something by Retrokitty. Good days they were, before the dark times...before the Empire...hang on, no, that's something else.

Great to see this thread revived @Benny. It always was one of my faves from the old place.

Who was in charge of this back in the day, @Benny? Lala, PK? The name escapes me but boy, did it go a long way.

I started the original then after a while retrokitty took over. It certainly did go a long way.
I'm sure we can create a thread here that many member will enjoy taking part with, but also learning more about the person behind the avatar.

I was going to say @retrokitty but thought it can't have been, it shows you how much I remember! Great name for the thread mind, "behind the avatars", I remember when that was coined. It goes back a long way.

I'm looking forward to Creasy's interview.

I'd be more than willing to be interviewed, but perhaps I'm not yet a big enough "name" here on MI6 Community. Please let me know if I am or not...

Of course you can put your name down to be interviewed.

Thank you Benny. Iook forward to the interview as a long-standing member of the James Bond online community. I also look forward to your other interviews with other members here on MI6 Community. Do you have any idea as to when the interviews shall begin, Benny?

    Thanks,

    Dragonpol.

Good question, and the answer I'm happy to say is...now!
Yes my first set of questions have been delivered and answered by @Creasy47. So make yourselves comfortable, and here we go.
    Benny wrote:
What started your interest in James Bond?
    Creasy47 wrote:
When I was young, my mom came home one evening with Goldeneye on VHS. I must have watched and rewound it countless times before she went out and picked up Tomorrow Never Dies for me, and eventually The World Is Not Enough. From there, it was a mixture of me renting and purchasing the rest of the films on VHS, and that brought me to collect and read the novels, alongside rewatching the other movies to an endless amount.

Ahhh the memories, of knowing only one of the Bond films. Rewatching it over and over, before the rest of the films are introduced to us. I'm sure that's true for many of us.
    Benny wrote:
What are your thoughts on each of the actors to play OO7?
    Creasy47 wrote:
Sean Connery is THE James Bond. While everyone has their favorites, it's really hard to deny that he is the quintessential James Bond who had it all: lethality, a grand sense of cool and suavity, a wonderfully urbane attire. Connery's Bond was wonderful. George Lazenby, while getting such a short time with James Bond, was unique: he's far from my favorite, but I've grown to enjoy OHMSS more and more, and I really didn't mind him in the role. Roger Moore is always enjoyable to watch - so fun to witness the laughter he brings in all of his constant one liners - but for me, he was hard to take seriously as Bond. I felt like when the time came for action, he was hard to rely on because he seemed so laid back in his other scenes. Timothy Dalton was great, starting to bring the type of Bond that Craig really shines with, and it was always such a shame that he didn't get more time in Bond's shoes. I would have loved seeing at least one more film in between the six-year gap that awaited Goldeneye, but alas, we never got that chance. Pierce Brosnan: many members on here know how I feel about him, that I'm in love with him and his Bond, and all of his work, pre-Bond, Bond, and post-Bond, is fantastic to me. He's my favorite actor to play James Bond. Granted, many would agree that his films seemed to lessen in quality as his time went on, and it's a shame that he went out with such a dud that was DAD, but I still try to enjoy it for the good that's in it, albeit few and far between. Finally, Daniel Craig: I love him as Bond. He's a real Bond for the times that has delivered such a serious, gritty feel to the series that I was interested in for quite some time, giving us such an enormous jump from DAD to CR. His time in the series has been wonderful, and I'm happy to say that his usually-loathed QoS is one of my favorites.

Great answer @Creasy47. An everymans Bond fan.
    Benny wrote:
Sticking with the film series, what would be your favourite Bond film, and of course why is it your #1?
    Creasy47 wrote:
My favorite Bond film is Goldeneye. As stated previously, it's the film that brought me into the world of James Bond, and from start to finish, it contains everything that I love about 007. I could do with it today what I did with it as a kid: watch it from start to finish as much as I could and not tire of it. With it introducing me to the series, alongside it containing Pierce Brosnan, it's one that can never be trumped in my book.

That's one of the many reasons I love Bond, our favourite films hold that special place for us all, and for any number of reasons. I love finding out why these films appeal to us.
    Benny wrote:
With the good comes the bad, what would be a low point in the series? And of course your least favourite film?
    Creasy47 wrote:
While I wouldn't say they were low points, I think they should have switched out Connery and Moore when they got so close to the end of their time as James Bond. Their age really started to show and it took me out of their final films at times. But, the lowest point for me has to be DAD. Of course, when I was a young teenager watching it in theaters, I loved it: it was the first one I saw in the cinemas and that was fun for me. But, over time, going back and rewatching it, it has so many cringe-inducing moments that can really kill it for me at times. I try to focus on the good when I watch it now, but the previous three films of Brosnan's stand as Citizen Kane-esque movies when compared to some of the moments DAD offers. I think what made it even worse was after the release and the whole toss-up of whether Brosnan would return or not, you had four years of questioning whether this just may be the end of Bond, and what a bad way to finish. Granted, James Bond always returns, and Campbell more than delivered come CR, but in those four years of waiting, it was something that most certainly would have spooked me if I was at the age I am now.

    No arguments here. ;)
    Benny wrote:
As Bond fans we're all different, and have different interests in the character, what are your thoughts on the novels?
    Creasy47 wrote:
I'm quite ashamed to say that I haven't read many of the novels - only a few of Fleming's and a few standalone novels, such as 'Devil May Care' and 'Carte Blanche' - I absolutely love Fleming's work the most. 'Casino Royale' is such an exciting read from start to finish, and I really, really enjoyed reading 'Dr. No,' thinking I know what will happen next and then having different bits and pieces thrown at me that I'm not expecting, mostly with the climax of the novel. Of the Fleming novels I've read, they were all in a short time many years ago, though, so the details are slim for me. Some day very soon - preferably in the summer - I plan on picking up the rest and reading straight through all of them.

Don't feel ashamed my friend. You've at least read some Fleming, and I think most fans have at least some grasp of the man who gave us James Bond.
That's one of the joys of being a Bond fan, we can get so much out of it.

And that my friends is where we'll leave it today.
Untill the next set of questions, you stay classy Mi6 ;)

They'll be the same base questions but later ones will change slightly depending on the member and how the interview has gone so far, I believe.

    I'm loving it so far.
