    The good doctor's wish list:

Christoph Waltz as villain, maybe a high ranking Quantum member (not the big mysterious boss, why not dame Helen Mirren, that would be something new, but not necessarily for Bond 24, maybe Bond 25)

Mikael Persbrandt (maybe as a henchmen)
    Simon Russell Beale
    Rhys Ifans

    Theme Song: Muse/Goldfrapp/Arctic Monkeys/Duffy/Michael Bublé

Rhys Ifans can be really creepy and he is a good actor. I could see him as a memorable henchman and he has locked lips with DC already AND has been almost killed by him. So - that's a good start :D

@Germanlady, I've said that for a while now! Ifans would be an excellent villain, and yes, he and Craig have been incredibly close at one point in their careers! :))

After reading the article on the main page about Dame Helen Mirren wanting to play a villain, I think that could prove interesting. I thought the head of Quantum being played by a woman would be a fantastic idea, but I had a younger, Tilda Swinton image in my head. Still, I'm sure they could find room for Mirren somewhere. She would be a phenomenal addition.
  • I want a pure Asian bond girl, not like Berenice who has Asian blood but sounds French. And a female Quantum boss for the final villain sounds like a fresh idea.

I had mentioned earlier that I wanted Bond 24 or any other bond movie to be released in the future to shoot scenes in Somalia where Bond has to rescue/retrieve intel or a person, possibly taking on Pirates, which could be a great opportunity to see Craig in a Naval uniform. Now, ive just seen the trailer to Captain Phillips; i had no idea a mivie was being made about this and it's being directed by Paul Greengrass no less. i think EoN could do something really amazing with such a scenario as a PTS.

Have Bond take down Quantum. Then one of their operatives, a certain Ernst, forms his own organization. It does not have to be called SPECTRE. He can call it CRAIGNOTBOND or whatever.
  • I want to see two types of villain. First is from organized Quantum; maybe we will be able to see the leader and get a better idea of the organization. Second is a crazy terrorist group. Bond needs to juggle time between the two.

I was thinking what if Quantum make a deal with an extreme IRA member to try and destroy the new M..

Too similar to Skyfall. I am all for a plot against M, but not for Bond 24 and even then choose a radically different approach than Skyfall.
  • Based on what I read, Logan is writing a 2-part story like Deathly Hallows 1 and 2 so 2 villains are possible. It's just the story treatment. They need to drop that plot against M for the last Craig movies. Also, 2 villains will give room for more and bigger action sequences.

Bond's world always reflects the political realities of their time. Back in the 60's, the espionage genre was concerned with the Cold War and the film's reflected that. Today, SF was loosely inspired by the Wikileaks events.

Do we think it likely that in the next film will take place in the backdrop of a Snowden type event? It serves a great dramatic purpose: Bond hunting down one of his own gone rogue. Maybe Q will take on the role of Snowden?
Interesting post. Silva is clearly a take on Assange. And you're right that global events often inspire the villain's scheme (droughts--> QoS, 9/11--> CR, etc.). Snowden is a bit too close in detail to Assange, but it is likely that events happening right now will make it into the Bond 24 script as part of the villain's scheme so...chemical weapons?

I have a feeling we will be finally getting a main female villain in Bond 24 or Bond 25, not a henchperson or split roles a la FRWL or TWINE. It feels like it's time. And of course Bond will sleep with her. Bonus points if they name her Maria Freudenstein.

    re-reading through this article:

    http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/bond_23_report_apr10.php3?t=&s=&id=02526

I really think this was the plot for Peter Morgan's Bond 23.

hmmm.... based on this, the people behind the scene had entertained that idea of a female boss villain before they went with the plot against mother M. Lo and behold, they allegedly considered would-be Mrs. Craig.

Moreover, the "Property of a Lady" is given a new meaning. A Quantum dominating the whole world ( legitimate governments and Britain included) will challenge Bond's black-and-white mentality. I've seen enough from the last 2 movies to justify Quantum's reach. In, QoS there's this British official who said line similar to this: "we have to work with villains or we'll have no one to work with"

If this is the case, Bond and Q (Snowden) and even a "delinquent" MI6 could "rebel" against the Quantum dominated world and governments in Bond 24 and 25.

As a bonus, a Craig-Weisz Bond film will do very, very well on the publicity department even though it's not necessary. Not mentioning a steamy scene.

@jason_bourne, I think that would work out: the title would fit just wonderfully with a female-driven Quantum organization, whether Weisz heads it or not. I still say someone like Tilda Swinton, but if this idea comes to fruition, I'll be more than happy.

I'd rather have The Property of a Lady as Bond being the property of the Queen.

And while I am not totally against the idea, I am dubious about a female main villain at this time, right after the female M's last bow, especially if they go the Elektra route again, which didn't really work. If it was going to be a repulsive villainess like Rosa Klebb, then of course that would be different, and more Flemingesque too.

It's really fun to speculate especially knowing that 24 and 25 will be a 2-part. They need a big, influential organization as an enemy (like Voldemort's Death Eaters in Deathly Hallows 1 and 2). If they go with a male boss of Quantum who is practically a modern Blofeld, I would still be fine with it. But a female boss villain will be a refreshing surprise. I'd prefer someone in the vein of Rosa Klebb who will have a hot female henchwomen.

So Tilda Swinton can be that Klebb coz she gives off an enigmatic villain vibe. But Weisz in a Bond movie....... Just awesome.

Nice to see others are also a fan of having Swinton play the head of Quantum.

Didn't think I'd be saying this a few years ago, but can we have Bond in some casual clothes? The wax jacket and jeans suited him perfectly in the climax of Skyfall, but the rest of it was pretty much in suits. Thinking back, Casino Royale had a pretty good balance of work and action clothing... the white shirt and chinos that Bond wore in the Bahamas is a solid, casual choice for example.

    Anyone with me?

I am. Bond should wear what's suitable for the action he does. He can't always wear a smoking.

Personally I love seeing Bond dressed in a tux at totally inappropriate times, it always adds something for me seeing a good scrap whilst are hero is imacculatley dressed it's just seems so Bond.

Like Bond wearing a dinner suit in the middle of a desert. Gotta live it.
Anyway, I might be the only one who isn't overly enthusiastic at the possibility of Mrs Craig's casting as a villain. She's a great actress but I'm just left feeling slightly underwhelmed at such potential casting.
  • @identigraph. guess i have to agree with your viewpoint. shows the contradiction in Bond's character: a rugged gentleman.

IMO, Weisz playing the female villain is just a pot sweetener. Other suggestions include: Swinton; Helena Bonham Carter; and Monica Belluci. there's this guy wanting a female lead antagonist badly.

Oh another wish: Bring back the brutal, hand-to-hand fight scenes. just one will do, Mendes.
  • I'm usually lukewarm to the idea of a female main villain, but Tilda Swinton is an interesting choice and really gets me thinking.

Her "look" is simply one in a million. She's certainly not ugly, but she possesses an androgynous quality that is so different from anyone else we have ever seen in a Bond film. Don't sexualize the character one iota, she's the furthest thing from a femme fatale or a seductress. They should make her truly nightmarish.

I think a director like Alfonso Cuaron could work wonders with something like this. Speaking of which ... CUARON FOR BOND 25!

I would love to see Bond wearing his Navy Commander suit or in some way have a reference to his commander days. Kinda like in TND

Now THAT'S a take on the villainess that I would love to see. No sexy femme fatale or young heiress commanding people around, but a character much closer to Fleming's original female villains.

M, Moneypenny and Q out in the field doing the job- bring Tanner as well.

The casting of Hugh Jackman and Benedict Cumberbatch as villains.
  • Not for Bond 24, but for Craig's last Bond film, I want You Know My Name to play over the end credits.

Cumberbatch is a must. Surely Eon have already brought him up during dinner conversation. Jackman as a villain is quite an interesting idea I'd like to see. Has he played a baddie before?

@QBranch : and a half-baddie in "The Prestige" , co-starring Christian Bale (Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, David Bowie).
