That's from two years ago. I'd say it's 100% out of the realm of possibility.
  • don't like Fassbender even though he gives off some 2nd-rate, Sean Connery vibes. I don't think he has charisma and box office appeal. On the other hand, I don't think the producers will continue Craig's rugged Bond after Daniel's retirement. I bet another dark horse will come out, but who am I to speculate?
  • Fassbender as Bond ? No.

Fassbender is a good choice. However, he seems a little too obvious. When casting
Bond No.6 the more obvious names were never really in consideration ie Clive Owen, Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor. The next Bond will be an actor not even mentioned yet.

Fassbender would be great though and the prods would be very lucky indeed if he was interested.

Completely looking past the fact that Fassbender is too obvious now, he's already 35, and will be around 42/43 by the time that a new actor steps in and takes over.

While I doubt it'll be Fassbender, I don't think a Bond in his 40s would be that much of an issue. Brosnan, Dalton and Moore were all in their mid 40s iirc.

If they look good then I don't think it'd be an issue. It would just mean that they'd get less films out of them than an actor in their 30s.

@thelivingroyale, true, and I also don't think it would be a problem if they could just settled on the film-every-other-year routine like they had going for a little while. That way, an actor could start in his early-to-mid 40's and still crank out three or four films. It's the pushing back of the releases that makes a difference and shows a considerable difference in age.
  • I've been on Team Fass for many a year. Decent actor and looks the part in spades. Ideally Craig would hang it up after the next film. Can't recall the exact details of his contract so not sure if that's feasible, but it would've given Craig a good run and he could exit gracefully.

after the next film? I thought Craig will be in until Bond 25 at least. Ok. Fass has the "classic" Bond look (tall, dark, chiseled). But i don't think he has the mass appeal to attract a wide audience unlike Craig who had an underrated charisma prior to Bond; the producers need to be assured that they can sell like pancakes. I've seen him in x-men first class and i don't think he is a bad actor, but not as intense or absorbing as Craig; I think McAvoy's acting was outstanding. So, I think they will surprise us again with Craig's successor.
  • McAvoy for Bond ? Sell it like pancakes !! Is my new steamboat, all board !

Ultimately, even though I'd be cool with Fass, I have to agree that the next Bond will be someone who isn't currently on the radar. Dreamcasting the next Bond always seems to be a popular pastime, though. It's loads of fun and it never seems to get old.

I suspect, however, that dreamcasting Bond may be particularly appealing to people who are dissatisfied with the current guy. Their attention thus tends to focus on an actor who is believed to have the qualities that the current Bond supposedly lacks. In this respect, Fassbender is to Craig as Adrian Paul was to Brosnan.
