I think Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond from Lost and M. Volker from The Mentalist) would do a very nice James Bond. But my first choice to replace Daniel Craig is still Tom Hiddleston.

    He would be AWESOME!

A decade ago I would have had Russell Crowe as Bond, directed by Jim Cameron.

    I think Hiddleston is a great choice for a variety if reasons;

    He's a brilliant actor (thespian)
    Has a good height
    Familiar with action scenes
    Isn't a super star actor
Young enough to accommodate 3 year intervals for Bond movies (should that be the norm) and still get a generous amount if Bond movies from him
Can attract the same sort of talent that Craig can

Now that being said, watch EoN go and cast the man as the villain for Bond 24 *rolls eyes*

Just seen some photos of Henry Cavill on the set of the new Man from UNCLE film. As Cavill is playing a spy, Napoleon Solo, I guess this is more or less how he'd look as James Bond if he were cast in a 2013 Bond film.

His body shape reminds me a little of Sean Connery's. Both have broad shoulders and that 'tall height' look about them. I think I prefer his hairstyle to Craig's short look in his Bond films. Craig needs one decent Bond hairstyle - a hairstyle that actually feels Bondian - before he leaves the role!

As Cavill is playing Solo and Superman - Superman Solo! :P - I think he won't get a chance to play 007 although I think that's the one role he really wants!
  • Cool pictures of Henry Cavill. He looks a lot like Bond, but there's something kind of off about him as Bond. Not sure what it is. On another note, I watched Thor: The Dark World yesterday, and Tom Hiddleston was great. He could make a good Bond, but I think he'd be an even better antagonist. If they were making GoldenEye today, he would be perfect for Janus/Trevelyan.

Somehow I don't think Cavill will be Bond now. How about some of those young'uns from Game of Thrones? I was thinking about Richard Madden or Kit Harington. They are very young now, but would be the right age when it is time to find a successor to Craig. Now I don't know much about them and if they are that good actors, so I am suggesting this carefully.
  • I looked the two of them up and they don't look quite right for the part. That said, they'll have several years to mature between now and then, so age could be kind to them.

They are still very, very young, so I am suggesting them carefully.

He's too old now but I think Nathaniel Parker would have made a great Bond.

Replacing the last couple of Brosnan films? Yes, please, that would have been an improvement.

I never thought Crowe would have fit as Bond. Too big, not lean enough, too rough looking. He looked dangerous, but not the can of dangerous James Bond would be.

Ioan Gruffudd may have made a good Bond but he's 40 now:

I think that Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be good but he's 36 now. He'll probably be too old as well by the time Craig steps down.

Damn, everyone seems to be too old!

I never thought either would fit for Bond. For Gruffud, maybe it is because he played Mr Fantastic. I was never impressed with his acting skills.

That is why I brought forward two very young actors. Right now they are too young and not experienced enough, but if they gain maturity and if they show themselves as capable actors, they might have a chance. And they are just unknown enough right now.

It is a few years off (fortunately; I am a Craig fan) for a new Bond - but look at how well Leonardo DiCaprio has matured. So yes, a youngish looking actor now, in a few more years, could be right for Bond.

And let's not forget Craig's successor is probably an unknown now and may well be when he is cast!

Not that I really think that either of these two will be cast anyway but I think that Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be a good Bond. He's a good actor and I've seen him in a number of films. He's very charismatic, suave and cool. One great film he's in is 'Match Point' which is directed by Woody Allen.

As for Gruffard, I'm just going by his looks really. I've only heard him deliver a few lines of dialogue.

    James D'Arcy.

Someone else brought him up in another thread, but I found a photo of him in a naval uniform and he IS Bond to me now.

    Bond 27, 2020?

  • James D'Arcy would be a bit old (45) in 2020, and your second picture isn't there @JWESTBROOK. Neither is yours, @hildebrand_rarity.

Which second picture? I can see one of D'Arcy in a naval uniform and the drawing of Fleming's Bond.. I deleted the link to a second picture of D'Arcy I had up.

Mike Connors- Every time I see him in a show or movie he reminds me a lot of James bond. His stance, mannerisms, action scenes are all very Bond like. Even his height is Bonds height at 6'2. He would've been the first Armenian/American Bond. How do you guys think Mike Connors would have done as James Bond?

I had to google him, but yeah,if it is that Krekor Ohanian bloke he had the looks for it.
  • This is an Aussie bookmaker website. They have novelty bets, (like most) and they have one going for the next James Bond, (like most).
    Here's what they have: http://www.sportsbet.com.au/betting/hollywood?LeftNav
Seems like the bookies really think Idris Elba will be the next Bond at 4 to 1. Though who would you guys put your money on???

I most certainly don't see the next Bond being Elba, Fassbender, or Hardy, that's for sure. I'm sure it'll be a relative unknown.

Count me in for an unknown actor, preferably British. When you start changing the sex or race of the principal character, it's a sign of desperation and becomes a franchise-killer. I would hate to see that.

And I would think to consider that midget Tom Cruise as Bond mortally wounds the franchise.

James Purefoy as Bond in a parallel universe to the Brosnan era. He's very charismatic and convincing as the villain in Sky Atlantic's The Following. Like a bad Bond. I believe he actually scree-tested so MGW and BB must have been impressed.

I often think people bring forward the same names for Craig's successor they brough for Brosnan's, or even Dalton's.

My top choice is easily Karl Urban. Tall, handsome, muscular, and plenty of acting chops. I'm sure he would've channeled a Sean Connery-like swagger. I know it won't happen though. Urban is 41 now and will probably be in his late 40s by the time his next chance comes knocking. Still look at this guy. That's James Bond.
