Precisely the reason why they're throwing Batman into the mix. MoS did moderately successful Box Office but nowhere near the kind of numbers that WB would have anticipated.

WB/DC should feel blessed to have Batman. He's saved the day for them in more ways than one.

I think Superman may drag Batman down. Why can't they have him by himself, using losely the continuity of the Nolan movies?

I think they should leave the Nolan films alone. It's a separate trilogy from the MoS universe continuity.

I know its a separate trilogy, hence my comment about keeping Batman working alone and to spare us another origins story use Nolan's trilogy loosely for continuity. Or at least the first two.

You can keep Batman's origins as it was in Nolan's films, which are largely comic based origins anyway, just so that Bruce isn't this Bruce we are meeting in MoS, as that wouldn't make sense. There won't be an origins story anyway, as this Batman has been at it for a long time by when we see him in MoS 2.

  • Looking at the list of due-out-in 2015, should be called the year of sequels. I'll take in Bond 24 for sure, but I'll likely pass on the rest.

I was dubious about this film from the start and now it could easily have "box office bomb" attached to it. Let's see if Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas follow suit.

Yeah, I'm not sure how well an 'Ant-Man' film is going to go over, but then again, I'm sure people said the same thing about 'Thor' and not being sure on how well it would be received. Time will tell, but it's definitely not good that Wright dropped out because his vision wasn't the one that was going to be in the film. Worries me.

I'd say get Joe Johnston to replace him. He's had experience with this sort of subject matter with Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and he did direct Captain America: The First Avenger so he could easily handle the project.

Am I the only one not arsed about star wars? Jurassic park is my star wars! Can't wait for Jurassic world.

I'm really not excited for either of them. I loved 'Star Wars' when I was a kid, but I guess I lost interest as I grew up. As for 'Jurassic Park,' they're entertaining, but I'm not completely thrilled about the new one so far.

Same about me, but for the simple fact that, in my opinion, Star Wars starts with Episode I and ends with Episode VI.

I'm really looking forward to Jurassic World, I have been a fan of the trilogy since I was a little kid. Last year I've even read Crichton's novels too.
So far, I'm just disappointed that John Williams, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum won't reprise their roles, hope they'll have their space in the sequels. I understand, though, that Neil and Goldblum were left away because it wasn't easy to make them fit in the plot without shoehorning them, so I respect that decision.

"2015 may be the biggest year for movies yet" I sure hope so because 2014 has been totally lacking.
Just more of the same old rehash: superhero CGI extravanganzas, more screwball comedies and horror that is not too impressive.

@OHMSS69, it's why I've only been to the theaters twice. I've been very impressed both times, but nothing has jumped out at me more than those two this year (that was actually playing nearby), which is a pity given I've seen only two movies in the former half of the year almost.

I'm excited for both films. Star Wars because it's, well, Star Wars (I also quite like the prequels despite their flaws), and Jurassic World because it seems they've spent a lot of time on its premise; apparently it will be a different 'beast' to the previous three films. Of course I'd be more hyped with the addition of Neill or Goldblum, and I'm not familiar with any of the cast bar Vincent D'Onofrio (something else to look forward to). Jurassic Park 1 was an epic film, and a technical achievement. Anyone else have trading cards from the film? :)) :P

Although I've pretty much given up on comic book films (seeing X-Men on Monday though) one film next year did interest me from the Marvel stable but that was only because a certain director was involved.

The news has recently just broken that Edgar Wright has left Ant-Man. Being a fan of EW since Spaced I would have felt inclined to see this at the cinema. No I'd rather not give Marvel anymore money but when one of my favourite directors is on board I feel I must support, it would have been the same with Fincher. It was apparently over artistic differences according to the press release.

I know it seems to have upset quite a few but I'm frankly relieved that now I don't have to contribute to this cash cow. TDKR was the last comic book film I saw at the cinema and are only doing the new X-Men film for the cast and the fact it's Singer back on form and it's being compared to X2.

I personally have had enough of this genre and while it may have been interesting to see Wright's take on this and I hope now he focuses his talents elsewhere and yes this might sound harsh but never darken Marvel's door again. He's much too individualistic to be tied down to a big studio picture that obviously had conditions.

That being said Wright and Joe Cornish have been developing this since before the first Iron Man (2006) and Feige was saying they weren't really considering it and it was more of an Edgar passion project, so what happened? I'm sure intrigued to know why EW would back out just before filming was about to commence, he doesn't strike me as a Fincher or Vaughn type but who Knows?

I will say though the World's End was Wright's worst film by a long shot and was somewhat disappointing after the quality of the previous 2 films of the Cornetto trilogy, although I'm laying the blame at Simon Pegg's door as much as Edgar's on that one. I'm hoping his next offering will be more like Scott Pilgrim's quality, which despite it's box office failure was for me his strongest film to date and most likely was why Marvel agreed to work with him in the first place thinking that style would complement one of their films.

@Shardlake I'm in the same boat as you. I liked the Batman trilogy but I'm pretty sick of superhero/comic book films. Some of them are good but for every Dredd and Kick Ass there's about 10 Marvel movies (they're fun but you can have too much of a good thing, I think they've run it into the ground by releasing multiple films per year).

I am a massive fan of Edgar Wright though. Never watched Spaced or seen Scott Pilgrim but I loved Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz (didn't think Worlds End was brilliant although it was still pretty good). I thought on paper Ant Man sounded shit (a superhero based on an ant? Really?) but I loved Edgar Wright so I was thinking of watching it even though I'm sick of comic book films. But him leaving has killed any interest I had in it.

Since he's been working on it for so long and since he was so involved in it, I am interested in why he's left just a year before release. I'm thinking maybe that Marvel wanted the story to tie into Avengers and all the other flicks while Wright wanted to make a self contained film like he'd originally planned (since he started work on it way back before Iron Man or any of those he'd have initially planned it as a stand alone movie).

You're not alone, I couldn't give a shit about Star Wars. Never seen any of them and I don't have any interest in watching them.

Assassin's Creed is my Star Wars, I'm really looking forward to the film (and as a massive fan of the games, really hoping that they don't fuck it up).

When pre-production is in this much trouble, it doesn't give you much hope for a decent film.

This has been a dream project of sorts for Wright for years, so if his vision isn't the one that's going to see the light of day, then I fear what we're going to receive for this project.

I'm just shocked that he left. He has put so much time into this film since way back in 2006, so I fear he disbanded the project for more reasons than just a script change.

Well there was a whole thing going that it was to be a stand alone film. Could the script change be that Marvel wanted it to be part of the Avengers?

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, I think that's all it takes. He's been working on the film since 2006, and they hired someone else to do a script rewrite other than himself, essentially changing up his entire vision for the film. Plus, in that article, department heads starting to leave the project when the project was delayed for a few weeks. They should've just let him make the film he wanted to make. I'm damn sure that it wouldn't have disappointed audiences. But, it's their loss, now they'll hire some schmo who will muck it up.
