@pachazo, nine out of those ten are in my top 10 also.

@Thunderfinger, I'm guessing that a certain film from 1995 is not in your top 10? ;)
Well, it's darn close enough so that works for me.

You are correct. How did you know? :)) I would replace that with LTK. But your taste is exquisite for the most part. ;)

I'd have to say OP is the film my opinion has changed most on. I would've called it the worst in the series at one point, now I have it at #9. I can't get enough of Khan and Moore's at his best.

For me, my bottom 4 will probably always be a variation of the 4 titles listed (unless another really bad one comes out), and my top 10 likely won't change for a while either. A lot of titles in the middle though are subject to change; I could potentially see a couple drop lower or a couple get a little higher. I'll stand by my current ranking though and just re-rank when I have my next total Bond-a-thon.

    1. DAF
    2. TB
    3. YOLT
    4. GF
    5. FRWL
    6. DN
    7.OHMSS
    8. LALD
    9. TMWTGG
    10. TSWLM
    11. MR
    12. TLD
    13. OP
    14. LTK
    15. GE
    16. TWINE
    17. AVTAK
    18. TND
    19. FYEO
    20. DAD ^
    21. CR
    22. QoS ^
    23. SF

I've just tinkered with the bottom end, moving DAD up from 22 to20 ahead of the Craig films and moving QoS up to 2nd on the Craig list ahead of SF.
I'd move DAD higher, not a lot higher, but I really cannot abide Bond being stuffed away in a North Korean prison for 14 months. Worst idea in the history of all the Bond films, which is why I dropped it below two of the Craig films for a while, if it wanted to wallow in such faux "realism."
I like Bond dangerous, but escapist too.

That's what I was thinking haha! Very interesting; I respect all opinions though, even if I sorely disagree with the bottom 3. Can't really blame you for putting the oldest ones first - the golden age, after all. For me the golden age was Dr No through OHMSS. But anyways yeah very unique list; I'm guessing your favorite actor was Connery?
  • edited March 2014 Posts: 4,622
My list is pretty straightforward. I've got my personal favourite DAF, at the top, which I see as sort of homage to the classic era that preceded, and as a glorious sendoff to the great Connery.
Then the classics themselves in my personal favourite order. OHMSS is a brilliant Fleming worthy Bond film, which deserves to be lumped in with the original Connery classics. Its just that the Connery element separates the first 6 films, but OHMSS is right there tucked in behind...and then a significant drop to the onset of the post Connery era.
The first two Rog films follow the golden era. I link these films favourably with the deft Guy Hamilton touch that we saw in DAF.
Then its kind of a grab bag, of Rog, Dalts and Broz, based on personal preference.
As I am not a fan of the darker reboot films, I lump them at the bottom. But I still watch them and enjoy them as alternative type Bond films. The filmcraft is still quite good and there are decent Bond moments in all of them, but something's got to go at the bottom.

That makes sense seeing as you like that Remo movie by the same director, eh?
    (Sorry, I know it's really Chiun's movie.)

Geez I just watched From Russia with Love again, and I must say I enjoyed it more than I remembered. Very good Bond film; only problem is that I still have several ranked ahead of it that I like better; too many good Bond films!!! haha

Timmer, where would NSNA fit on your list?
I consider it to be an alternative Bond film. I would rank it just ahead of the Craig films.
It lacks the Eon touch- the zip and excitement, music etc. Not even Sean can save it. Mind you its still quite watchable IMO, as are the re-boot films, but I prefer the full blown Eon treatment that the first 20 films got.

I think someone needs to be sectioned ;)

I can understand not having it at the very top (the poor back-projection, dodgy acting at times) but RIGHT at the bottom below the likes of MWTGG, DAF and DAD :-O

I can't help it. Its not just him - I've had 'debates' with my dad before, who prefers TMWTGG over SF (he's a Rog fan).

Most people I've seen seem to have OHMSS in the top 10 or bottom section, only a few times middle ground. Interesting. I think 90 percent of everyone has GoldenEye down as their favorite Brosnan film too.

You've gotta live Max "the Madman" Zorin, no? Or that belting theme tune? Or that superb climatic duel atop the Golden Gate? So much to love!

I wouldn't call TMWTGG a favorite of mine, but I strongly agree it's very underrated. I much prefer it to the likes of MR, OP, and AVTAK. Christopher Lee was excellent, Moore was great, and I loved the island/fun house scenes.
