There's a lot more to worry about with QoS than Kleinman's absence. That's way down the list of priorities.

That's true. Perhaps a most important absence in QOS could have been Martin Campbell. But nevertheless the title sequence in Quantum seems too generic. Kleinman always works around an idea or a concept. And by the way, I'm not the biggest fan of his work in SF, it seems to me the most inconsistent of all his sequences.

I actually feel the same way about TND's and TWINE's title sequences. Upon viewing them, it makes me yearn for Maurice Binder.

I was not writing my list about the films where they were absent - I was writing my list based on their stellar work and that they would be missed in any film they were absent in, in general.
So when I say Martin Campbell - I put him because of GE and CR.
I'm not citing specific films where they needed to be in. I listed people I thought were exemplary to giving Bond films that special level of excellence, that Bond touch.

Just clarifying my overall list ...

Also glad Gassner was mentioned as well as BJ Worth. :)
  • LIST 130

    7 - Tarzan. 'nuff said.

6 - The extremely distracting "Cai Cai Cairo" without any lips moving. At least this little thing could have been fixed at some point, no?

5 - The DAD CGI. I'm not saying there can't be any CGI in a Bond film, but it has to be done well. DAD obviously didn't do it well. I don't want my Bond film to look like a Playstation game.

4 - Get Bond into space with little or no training. And I'm a MR fan! Bond may be a very talented man, but no-one can make a space shuttle trip in 1979 without years of preparation.

3 - Having Bond and MP make out, even if it is a dream.

2 - Virtual reality training in a Bond film. Yeah it's high-tech, but it makes no sense. Even if you give them the conceit the technology being available to MI6, what's the point of having Bond train in an unreal environment? He should go out there, run an obstacle course, try to beat real challenges.

1 - The loop whistle in TMWTGG. It's neither funny nor functional. It's, if anything, a distraction. A totally absurd element in a film that has used up its allowed absurdities already by this point. Unbelievable no-one ever thought about deleting it.

    1. CGI in DAD. The tsunami surfing would've looked better with back projection.

    2. Slide whistle in Gun completely ruins the awesomeness of the stunt. We should've just heard the car's engine purring.

    3. Beach Boys during the snowboard scene.

    4. Jaws losing his menace in MR.

    5. Tarzan yell. That was an incredibly weak move.

    6. Bond's first cinematic punch in DN starts with him pulling back with the right and cuts to him hitting Jones with the left.*

    7. In DAF, Bond balances the car on two wheels to go through the alley, but exits on the other two.*

*Those last two continuity errors don't bother me, but I couldn't think of anything else that stood out.
