I love seeing people get all heated up over mere performance art.
  • It's just like any other TV show, when it comes down to it. Besides, we're on a James Bond forum, we can hardly act all highbrow.

Quite true. All entertainment lovers are guilty of being caught up in the exploits of fictional characters and worlds through television shows, films, books and more. Of course, these various forms of entertainment don't pretend to be real, while wrestling does (and horribly at that), hence the many jokes at their expense.

I don't think any wrestling 'pretends to be real' more than any other TV show. Certainly they can't say 'These guys aren't really gonna fight!' but just about all the fans (at least the ones over the age of six) know that it's not real and like it because the stories can be a lot of fun and the matches can be rich if you know what to look for.

Not exactly, you simply demonstrated your ignorance.

I don't understand why wrestling gets all the hate it does. People's main gripe is always "But it's fake and/or scripted". So is every film, television show, and play you've ever watched. Unless you're into snuff films in which case you're hardly in any position to act all highbrow. What wrestling is is basically an ongoing adrenaline fueled stage show. Theater for the action junkie. The Undertaker losing his streak a couple of nights ago and retiring is not too dissimilar to a cinematic hero dying in their next film. Only there's no reboot.

Won what? All I saw was a condescending dismissal of wrestling as childish from someone with a Simpsons-filled profile on a James Bond forum. Give me a break. A paper champion if I ever met one.

    And we're done.
This is going nowhere other than a disagreement with no winners.
