The best "couples"

edited April 2014 in Bond Movies Posts: 15,123
I don't think there is a thread about this. I am not merely talking about Bond-Bond girl, but Bond-villain, Bond-Q, Bond ally and even villain-henchman. Who do you think were the best "couples" of the series, the ones when the interaction was most interesting.

If I were to think of five:

    Connery-Lee (James Bond-M)
    Lazenby-Rigg (James Bond-Teresa di Vincenzo)
    Moore-Topol (James Bond-Milos Columbo)
    Dalton-Davi (James Bond-Franz Sanchez)
    Craig-Dench (James Bond-M)

Change Moore to Maud Adams and include Pierce-Llewelyn and I agree with everything else above.

Craig-Harris. I liked their interaction in the PTS as well as their work in Macao and the scenes in Mi6. And of course the "close shave" scene is highly memorable (but does not seem to receive the credit it deserves)
Craig and Naomi has great chemistry and it really stands out.

Almost too much I thought. I loved that scene, I was nearly disappointed she became Moneypenny, because I thought they can't return to safe, platonic flirting after having such a scene.

Connery- Lee, Kerim Bay (don't know the actors name) and Maxwell.

    Lazenby- Rigg.

Moore- Lee (Chris, not Bernard), Llewelyn and Adams.

Dalton- Davi, Saunders (again, don't know the actor).

Brosnan- Bean, Bond (MP), Dench and Llewelyn.

    Craig- Dench, Green, Bardem.

Two that come to my mind (and I am surprised nobody mentioned them yet):

    -Bond-Grand in FRWL
-Bond-Blofeld in OHMSS: by far the best antagonism between the two characters. They seem to hate each other, even on speaking terms.

Sean Connery and Lois Maxwell. (Casual Couple)
George Lazenby and Diana Rigg. (The Loving Couple.)
Roger Moore and Maud Adams. (The mutual attraction couple.)
Timothy Dalton and Robert Davi (The gentlemen's club.)
Pierce Brosnan and Desmond Llewenlyn (Student and Mentor.)
Daniel Craig and Judi Dench. (The odd couple.)

I agree with many of the selections so far.

I know that this is a "couples' thread but I think that Connery, Lee and Maxwell were the best "trio" of Bond, M and Moneypenny. The chemistry between them is outstanding and has provided us with many of the series best moments.
    Connery/Llewelyn was always fun too.

    Connery and Kitzmiller (Quarrel)
    Connery and Wiseman

    Lol.
    Connery and Pedro Armendáriz.
Connery and Shaw were great too.

    Connery and Blackman

    Lazenby and Rigg

    Moore/Lee and Moore/Maxwell weren't too shabby either.
    Moore and Llewelyn
    Moore and Hedison
    Moore and Seymour
    Moore and Adams
    Moore and Topol

    Dalton and d'Abo
    Dalton and Brown
    Dalton and Wheatley
    Dalton and Davi

    Brosnan and Dench
    Brosnan and Bean
    Brosnan and Scorupco
    Brosnan and Llewelyn

    Craig and Dench
    Craig and Green
    Craig and Giannini
    Craig and Bardem

Khamal Khan and Gobinda made quite a good pair too I think.
  • I always thought Luciana Paluzzi as Volpe and Connery as Bond were perfect foils for each other, pity they didn't have enough scenes together.
I also loved the scenes with Vesper and Mathis together at the casino.

Lazenby + Rigg is the best haha
Other ones I like are Craig and Dench, Brosnan and Bean, Connery and all the villains (his interaction with villains was the best IMO, particularly Frobe).

Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell were by far the best M-Moneypenny team, in the early movies at least.

Absolutely & hands-down Craig and Eva Green.

CR has the best screen lead chemistry of any action/thriller of the current century, let alone a 007 movie. The post-trauma shower scene is one of the series' most memorable.
