Why, not just continue here, the topics are almost the same: http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/2264/rank-the-musical-scores-from-the-connery-era#Item_7

Do we really need another one?

Come on people, so many threads are getting looked recently, it's easy enough to look around, especially if you view the categories one at a time.

Anyway, my order is the same as before but On Her Majesty's Secret Service now tops the list.

As of this moment I would have to say...

    1) OHMSS
    2) YOLT
    3) TB
    4) DAF
    5) GF
    6) FRWL
    7) DN

I'm doing mine without DAF because it's not in the 60s and I consider the golden age to be Dr No through On Her Majesty's Secret Service:

    1) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (best Bond soundtrack ever!)
    2) Goldfinger
    3) You Only Live Twice
    4) Thunderball
    5) From Russia with Love
    6) Dr. No

If I did include DAF it would either take TB's place or be right under it.

The main theme from OHMSS is one of the best musical pieces ever written by man. We Have All The Time in The World is beautiful. Anything else from the score is just as great: Over and Out, Journey to Blofeld's Hideaway, Who will buy my yesterdays.

    2. From Russia with Love
    3. Thunderball
    4. Goldfinger
    5. You Only Live Twice

Glad to see most people like OHMSS's soundtrack best; for me it's a no-brainer as the best soundtrack in the whole series. I have several favorites - the Title Theme, Journey to Draco's Hideaway, We Have All the Time in the World (sung and instrumental versions), Gumbold's Safe, Bond Settles In, Bond Meets the Girls, Escape from Piz Gloria, Over and Out, Battle at Piz Gloria - all wonderful songs. John Barry really helped make that movie one of my favorite Bond films.

Really @Samuel001, you can't expect every forummember in here to do a 10 minute research first, looking at all 217 pages of topics, and then posting a topic.

I have no idea what Barry used for the musical cues during the bobsled chase, but man that is some inspired music.

The electric sounds in the film were made by a Moog Synthesizer and used to great effect in OHMSS.

They were all better than anything else, except DN. Which was still pretty much better than some others.(TMWTGG, FYEO, OP, AVTAK, TND, TWINE, DAD)

From the gut. All of the Barry scores are fantastic and even Dr. No has its moments. Although I don't see how Dr. No's score is better than AVTAK's @Thunderfinger

It had its charm and was the best one yet. AVTAK had not and was not. EMO. (Enter my opinion.)
  • I quite like DN's score. I've always seen AVTAK as one of Barry's best, personally. To each their own though for sure.
